Hey well look at this way. Had this show stayed on air she may have still been under contract and not able to do the sister sister series which started in april 1994. Jackee should have stayed on 227 til the end. Show ratings sunk once she left and it got dropped.
QuadrantBottomHalf Right. Even though, the ratings DID decline back in the '88 season, the show still survived, because of Jackee. After the NBC producers brought in four new cast members, while replacing Jackee in the final season, the show definitely hit rock bottom.
I just watched the 1st season on DVD and the creator said the show could've ran longer because it was based on her life with so many people in her building. I doubt it unless they found another pretty lady like Jackee. Maybe then the show had a good chance to run another 5 seasons.

I agree with everyone else that said the show should have been called 'Sandra'. It made no sense to call it 'Jackee' because that is the name of the actress and not the character she played. I think the producers felt that because Jackee had become very popular on 227 and was a household name by 1989 they decided to market the show using the actress's name in hopes that it would bring in her fan base. NBC didn't even give the show a chance. They just pulled the plug after the pilot episode. I consider that a tragedy in television history because 'Jackee' had the potential to run for 5 seasons and possibly open the door to a 227 extended universe.
I had to subscribe to your channel!! Thank you for having all of these good shows on CZcams!! Im sharing this on Facebook also! Our people could use some laughter right about now!
Funny you should say that. I remember Morris Day co-starring in a short lived television show from the late 80's or early 90's playing a similar character. I think it was called New Attitude.
Jackee was so beautiful in her prime!

Wish this became a series
I agree with everyone else that said the show should have been called 'Sandra'. It made no sense to call it 'Jackee' because that is the name of the actress and not the character she played. I think the producers felt that because Jackee had become very popular on 227 and was a household name by 1989 they decided to market the show using the actress's name in hopes that it would bring in her fan base. NBC didn't even give the show a chance. They just pulled the plug after the pilot episode. I consider that a tragedy in television history because 'Jackee' had the potential to run for 5 seasons and possibly open the door to a 227 extended universe.
8:02- “ I was just looking for suitable names for blonde haired Black Children”! Saaaaaaaaandra!
I had to subscribe to your channel!! Thank you for having all of these good shows on CZcams!! Im sharing this on Facebook also! Our people could use some laughter right about now!
The 80s we all had a krush on saunnnnndraaaa u right though even though its called jakee
Dude reminds me of Morris Day, way he talks....it was the 80s..
Funny you should say that. I remember Morris Day co-starring in a short lived television show from the late 80's or early 90's playing a similar character. I think it was called New Attitude.
Morris Day was on an episode of 227
i remember that show as well morris day was a big deal back then.
3am CZcams suggestions ☺
Every single outfit was a hit !😍
This is definitely, the black version of, "THE NANNY!"
The TALK, the CLOTHES, the BEAUTY, the dingy. Wowwww
Koko Anthony you mean the Nanny was the white version of this show since it came out first.
I don't think she is a nanny.
Everything that a black person does not does not not have to be a copy of something a white person does. Jackee is not a copy of anyone else!
@@Myopinionmattersthemost well The Nanny is the Jewish version, Jews aren't white.
You mean the reciprocal seeing how this came long before the nanny
One and only episode? That is a shame. Jackee was brilliant on 227. Why didn't they give this series a chance?
“I live life I don’t let life live me”
Jackee needs another sitcom.
Sandra was a icon and still today
The set for the gym looks like “Dorothy Height Hall” on ‘A Different World’ circa season 4-5
I said the same thing.😃
Some ADW extras in the background too...
