  • Hey everyone, welcome back to my channel! This is Samira Dahdal Sayegh, how are you guys?
    Are you thinking of giving your dark old bedroom furniture a fresh new look? Well guess what! I'm going to teach you step-by-step how to paint your dark furniture white. This tutorial is also great for painting any kind of furniture any color. So grab a brush and let's paint!
    In this video, I am repainting a Queen Bed, Desk and Nightstand. It took me about a week to finish this project. I started off by removing the handles to the desk and nightstand. After, I gave all three pieces of furniture a deep clean with TSP. Then I sanded all three pieces of furniture from top to bottom and FINALLY, I primed and painted.
    Products I used:
    Wooster Brush - bit.ly/3qEl9Ri
    Wooster Brush Paint Roller - bit.ly/3u56IIl
    TSP Substitute - shopstyle.it/l/bvL4O
    Tack Cloth - shopstyle.it/l/bvL3p
    Kilz2 Latex Primer (Sateen) - shopstyle.it/l/bvL3f
    PPG Paint (Elegant Ivory Cream) - shopstyle.it/l/bvL3m
    Protective Finish - bit.ly/37j1D5e
    Electric Hand Sander - bit.ly/3qujAFD
    Sanding Sheets for Electric Hand Sander - bit.ly/3udrRQP
    Sand Paper - bit.ly/3pqrheN

    Wow thank you for the video I'm still debating since I have no clue and there's so many types of paints. Also I don't think my bedroom set is all real wood. Did you mostly sand the pieces with the sander you showed? How long do you wait between the primer and paint coats? Do you use seperate rollers for primer, paint, and sealer, or can you wash them..... Would these products all work on a kitchen table?

    • @XXgenderloveXY
      @XXgenderloveXY Před 3 lety

      If you use a bonding primer you don't have to sand anything, and it will adhere to ANY surface, including wood, "fake" wood, metal, vinyl, laminate etc. Just paint one layer of bonding primer directly to the surface you want to paint. Just make sure it's clean. The primer dries within hours and then you can paint! Or if the surface was rough you can do a second layer of primer. It's so much easier and faster. I just did a metal bedframe and it was not even comparable to having to sand first. Hope this helps!

    • @SamiraDSayegh
      @SamiraDSayegh  Před rokem

      Hi! I believe that all furniture requires some level of sanding...so I personally would sand the furniture to make sure the paint adheres to the surface. Look at it this way, sanding furniture before painting will ensure a smooth finish that will make it less likely to chip! Good luck with everything! :)

    My furniture is red and I wa t it to be grey but I also want to distress it without the red coming through do you have any tips please

    • @SamiraDSayegh
      @SamiraDSayegh  Před 4 lety

      Hmmm so in your case, I would heavily sand the furniture in order to STRIP OFF the color. For this I would use ultra course sandpaper, the lower the grit, the better. Sanding will avoid the red coming through. After, prime and paint. Then the fun part - lightly sand to distress.
      So sand -> prime -> paint -> distress (lightly sand) Good luck on your project! How exciting!

  • @misscole06
    @misscole06 Před 11 měsíci

    So you’re sanding the clear coat/shiny sealer off so the paint will adhere to the piece.After you sand off the clear coat then you want to remove the dust with a dry rag, then a damp rag & once dry wipe down with the tack cloth. If necessary then sand it smooth (if wood sand with grain) and repeat the cleaning the dust steps again.Then You can begin the painting process at that point.

    Unless it is fiberboard for the wood. To achieve a lighter look. One can use a stain that is even white to allow the wood grain that your Deity had placed into the wood itself. For example Pure White 1081 by Minwax.

      You mean use a white stain instead of using the paint she used.

    Instead of using a tack cloth you can first vacuum and then follow up with a lightly damp microfiber cloth.

    • @SamiraDSayegh
      @SamiraDSayegh  Před 4 lety

      True! But I personally feel like a tack cloth is a bigger time saver and it worked well for me :)

      I personally wouldn't skip it, maybe lightly sand it just to remove the polish this way the white paint can adhere better to the surface. Good luck! :)
