such an amazing song honestly. Roxen is seriously one of my favourite artists in esc (i jammed to Wonderland way too much at this point) and Amnesia still proves that she is talented af. so far, its been a really strong year tbh even if you dont count San Marinos sudden but good bop.
im guessing you will react to Belarus soon but tbh i expect the worst of the worst from you here. so far, every reaction channel has been negative to Belarus and with good reason too.

I totally get that there was a comparison between Roxen and Victoria last year. What this 12 months has shown me in growth between these two is immeasurable. Victoria feels like a one-trick pony to me, a whimsical darkness, while Roxen seems to have developed into a really mature artist, mature beyond her years. I have to ask myself, who would I watch in concert? Seriously, Viktoria would send me to sleep after an hour... Roxen, I would just be waiting to see what comes next. Last year as you know I couldn't stand her at all, hated all her songs, alcohol you I found downright disturbing, and her attitude but this year I'm really liking this.
She's absolutely beautiful in this, love the faerie/anime look, navy blue characters have always been my favourites (did you notice she had navy blue lenses), love her styling too, the song is coherent, her voice is fantastic, the video is AMAZING, best video this year.
I agree that it doesn't have anything standout but it draws you in. And yes she has grown up.
Amazingly enough I still have it in 7th place and it's really not my style or generation.
I can see why the odds are high, they are winning odds, not placing odds, and it's too niche to win (it might have won in 2010 but the standard is now much much higher) but she deserves to qualify.
Ps: I LOVED Ester Peony, my god she was robbed

Like it knew I wasn't smart enough to get it ahahahaha. I will say this video, and Roxen's star quality reminds me A LOT of Loreen ❤️❤️❤️ maybe we'll get staging like Euphoria? ☺️

I'm perhaps a BIT lower on this than many others (Still in my top 8) but regardless Romania continues to deliver. Honestly I'm just glad that a bunch of songs I like have come out here at the end because I was getting worried that I was going to end up only liking 5 songs after the disappointment that was the Portuguese, Danish and Estonian selections. I've got 8 now and I'm banking on Iceland, Malta and Azerbaijan to bring it as well.
Side note but I'm sure you've heard about the Byelorussian entry by now. You'll want to look up those lyrics if you react, or at least check them if you have already seen it. They're an important component to the aforementioned public reaction. You might not even want to react given the whole ordeal, but just a heads up.

omg I 100% relate. Every year when I make my top 10, I always scour my brain for what is an automatic qualifier into that top 10, and i only really had 2 - finland and Lithuania.
That weekend with Denmark, POrtugal and Estonia will go down in my history as the weakest selection day in the history of Eurovision - i literally couldnt care less about any of those songs, they are meaningless to me. Im up to 5 now, but i havent heard Belgium, Moldova, Netherlands, Greece, Bulgarias revamp, Iceland, Malta. So im PRAYING this year will have an overloaded amount of top 10 candidates. Her vocals at time can be a tad sharp, so I'm hoping that it's just the studio edit and not the way she sings live. I'll have to watch the live performance to see how she sounds, but its looking very promising for Romania!

Those small synths and the bumpy beats that are subtle in the background are absolutely perfect and really help the song to flow along and it keeps things interesting.

      Roxen:
"Thank you to everyone who understood me, you were always with me and respected my personal life. Indeed, I went through an unpleasant moment, from which I learned a lot. The important thing is that I am well and I think that's what matters right now. The steps I took when this problem came into my life I took with confidence in what I want to do and I'm not going to give back. I take all my decisions, I have not returned to them and I will not return to them, I have seen all kinds of materials and articles in the press on this subject these days, and many of them have no real basis, on the contrary. also statements that have nothing to do with reality No, I do not want a reconciliation with my ex-boyfriend, I do not want to withdraw my complaint when I was blackmailed, emotionally abused I wouldn't have a reason to do that, even if I were to further filed, and after filing the complaint. I think it is very important that anyone who goes through such an episode to take action, to have the courage to say "stop" and not be overwhelmed by possible blackmail or manipulation. That being said, what happened is strictly my private life and I do not want to continue with this topic. I know very well what happened, why I had to file a complaint and how much evidence there is."

wow thats crazy. didnt realise there was all that dark stuff behind the song

  • @konstantinospapaioannou2588

Roxen is a charismatic artist - no doubt about that. The song, however, is not winning material. It's top ten material, yes, but not as strong and as unique as Alcohol you. Again, we have a dark, solid, contemporary composition, but it's not as deep as last year. This song is quite flat, easy to get lost among the extravaganza, the melodrama, the experimental nature of other Eurovision entries. It is a decent effort, but it doesn't have signature character. To the disadvantages, we should also add the similarity to Victoria's style from Bulgaria (and the dangerous similarity of both of them to Billie Eilish - let's be honest). Romania will definitely qualify, but winning?????? I can REASSURE YOU it will not happen. Not this year, not with this song. Last year, she would have had more chances.

Yea this is way better lyrically, i actually love the "self love amnesia" lyric - its lightyears better than that AWFUL fake news one. I totally get what you mean about sadgirls. I think it probably feels more inflated though because Victoria literally had 6 sad girl songs though. I feel a lot of countries were conscious about not sending something sad this year, given the global situation, as it feels like we have more happy bops that usual this year.

This contest has fallen a lot, it can be seen from the proposed pieces that are known to come with an order from the EU, that is, a certain idiology ... a certain imposed musical pattern. The most obvious last moment was that of Laura Bretan who supported a certain cause for her country and was fraudulently deducted by the jury of this contest ... such a thing is not forgotten! I'm sure other countries have suffered similar injustices ... so I don't think it will be a fair vote.

I think I'm in the minority, but I'm not really digging this. Her voice, the lyrics, the production quality and the background bits are great, but the backbone of the song is really weak. No interesting build, not a great melody and no climax to save it.
While I understand why people love it, it lacks memorability in my eyes. You'll remember her, the performance, but not the music.
To me, it's great background music, but not a great song. Much preferred last year's 5 songs.
With some artistic staging it can really do well at Eurovision I would say.

I have to agree with you. It's a song that grows on you after a few listens, and it has actually been stuck in my head for the past hour haha, but it lacks a climax, like you said. It could definitely stick out more with a great performance and great staging, but then again... it's a song contest. I don't know about you, but I'd prefer a great song with minimal staging to win over an OK song with good staging, if you know what I'm saying? I mean this song is great, I just don't think it's great enough in itself to win, or to deserve to win 😅

Iris, i get what you mean. last year it felt like some songs "tricked" me into thinking the song was better than it was with epic visuals - greece, azerbaijan, serbia etc.
But then there are songs like "My lucky day" by Moldova 2019, where the staging made me look at the song in a new light and changed my interpretation of the song, without changing the song itself. I ended up listening to that song 40-50 times after the performance because of that new interpretation. Without their stage show, i wouldnt even have downloaded it.

@@ESCTom Haha yeah, there are a lot of sneaky producers out there who know exactly how to stage a performance to make people like the song better 😅 The songs you mentioned there were actually pretty good though, and I don't think there's any problem with using good staging and great visuals to ENHANCE an already good/great song! Like Fuego 2018. I already loved the song before the show, but after Eleni's performance... WOAH. Climbed right up to my number one! Absolutely fantastic! La Forza 2018 as well! And let's not forget Verka Serduchka 🤣 But when the song is just meh, but they spend their budget on cool visuals to win people over... Well, that's a bit unfair to the artists who put everything into their song. Like Lejla in 2006, that's still one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard in Eurovision, and I'm not trying to discredit Lordi because HRH was a great song too, but... aaahhh, it was a tie for me between those two. Sometimes I feel like Lejla should have won 😭But I am half Bosnian, so I'm a little biased I guess 😂
