    Hello my friend I have a question please
    What is the appropriate height to put for the camera, I mean how high is the wooden pole that you installed the camera on?

  • @kittyrings

    Wow, thank you! This has answered a nagging question on the dotted pattern sheet. I've a LightBurn camera, and I've the XTOOL D1 10 watt Laser, and for some reason LightBurn does not like the Laser???? I try to frame after calibration and the laser will go off to the right or left and frame an area that does not have my coaster. Yes, I undate the camera. Anyway, I'm thankful for you clearing up the dot size pattern.

    Thanks for the tutorial. The overlay just showing the area between the alignment marks, what about the rest of the area around the current overlay? Is there any way to get the full view of your bed area?

    • @MiddleRoomWorkshop
      @MiddleRoomWorkshop  Před rokem +1

      Hi, Markus; thank you for your comment.
      The overlay should show you the corresponding engraving area as long as the camera is placed high enough to capture the entire area and the size of or machine is set correctly.
      Do you see the entire picture in the Camera Control Tab? That is everything that the camera sees. If not, you need to raise the camera.
      Is your engraving area corresponding to the machine? Check under Device Settings > Working Area.
      Let me know
      Ciao and Happy New Year

    I use my laser to cut out prints on card stock paper. I cut out hundreds of the exact same prints. My issue is I have to constantly position the paper in the exact spot so the laser cuts precisely where I need the cut to be. Is there a way I can print on these sheets registration marks so this camera can pick them up and self align the laser to however I’ve placed the page on the work bed?

      Hi, Xavier Pemmerl; thank you for your comment.
      This is an interesting question
      Unfortunately, is not that simple, but it can be done.
      It depends on which machine and software you are using and whether you are working in an Absolute or Current Coordinate system.
      If you are using LightBurn, and you were working in Absolute coordinate, and you did not move the workpiece, once the machine powers on, home it, then get to the preview window, use the slider to approach the point where it stopped, and then use the arrow keys to make fine movements, finally click on "Start from here" button.
      In most cases, you should get out good or, if noticeable, a very small imperfection.
      If you were using LaserGRBL, it is a bit trickier because first, you need to reposition the custom coordinate system, then you need to do something similar to what is explained above, but you cannot do it in the software itself; you need a code previewer like ncviewer.com/
      Load again the file you were working with in LaserGRBL and set it exactly the way it was, then move the laser to the point of reference, say the bottom left corner of your design and make finite jogs adjustments to get as close as you can there, once that is done save the file as a .nc file and open it in the software linked above.
      Here you will be able to preview the file, and you need to try to get to the point where it stopped; you will see the dot on the screen and the corresponding code line highlighted. Once you are there, hold SHIFT, scroll to the top of the code and click the beginning of the 3rd line, delete and save.
      Now you can re-import the file in LaserGRBL; if all is good, you should see the engraving starting exactly where it was.
      If the engraving is not a picture, that should be much simpler, but you need to understand your code a bit to leave the parts required for the machine to work.
      As I said is not simple, but it is also not impossible.
      A comment may not be very easy to understand; therefore, I might plan on making a video about it in the future.

    • @MiddleRoomWorkshop
      @MiddleRoomWorkshop  Před rokem +2

      Hi, @elquis_merl; thank you for your comment,
      As long as you verify that the camera sees your entire engraving area after the optical correction and the engraving test, the software crops automatically to include only the engraving area.
      I hope it helps

    If I am using a laptop and I disconnect the laptop close the program etc, and come back to do another cut does the camera have the setting saved or do I need to recalibrate everytime I reconnect?

    • @MiddleRoomWorkshop
      @MiddleRoomWorkshop  Před rokem

      Hi, @jeancancel; thank you for your comment.
      As long as the camera is not relocated or the machine moved relative to the camera, the software should retain the settings. Therefore you can shut down your laptop.
      Still, I have had users reporting a problem with the calibration lost.
      I hope it helps

    • @MiddleRoomWorkshop
      @MiddleRoomWorkshop  Před 8 měsíci

      Hi, @tomy8148; thank you for your comment.
      Yes, you can use a simple webcam to implement this feature. Alternatively, you can look for a dedicated, inexpensive fish eye lens camera.
      Here is the link to the one I recently installed on my Machine, version 160°:
      s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Dnq84P1
      Unfortunately, it has no enclosure or shell. in a few days, I will upload the one I designed on my website so that you may 3D print it.
      I hope it helps

      Hi, thank you for your comment.
      Yes, this is independent of the type of machine you have; if the machine works with LightBurn and you have a camera that LightBurn recognises, then you are good to go.

      Hi KM, thank you for your comment.
      Please make sure that the pattern is printed in the correct paper format or to be occupying a portion of the view of the camera.
      If the pattern is too large compared to the view of the camera is not going to capture it.

      It will not show up in Laightburn.
      The name pops up, I selected it. and Nothing.
      So I went to the Computer settings for devices.
      Click the name, Video popped up, saying Laserburn is using the camera.
      🤷🏽‍♂️
      Nothing else.
      doesn't work in Lightburn.

      Hi, Jason Medina; thank you for your comment.
      It looks like some other software is using your camera.
      Try to see if another app is running in the background that takes priority of the camera use. You could check in the Task Manager if you recognise some app that may use a camera, otherwise in Windows; go to the settings, and under Privacy > Camera at the bottom, you should see the application currently using the camera, from here you can either look for it and remove its permission by toggling off the button or go back to the task manager and locate the up to terminate it.
      Last but not least, you may want to try updating the camera, as there may be some incompatibility issues with your specific machine/software combination.
      I guess this can be done with the Logitech G Hub support.logi.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360025298133
      I hope it helps

      Hi, B Gat; thank you for your comment.
      Yes, it can be a bit problematic the first time.
      Make sure that you are printing out the pattern in A5 format; if the size is not correct it won't take it.
      What webcam are you using? You may have some incompatibility issues with the specific camera.

      I have the AC1 Camera from Adamstack I had to scan the dots on a 1 to 1 ratio or exact size and print the dots on a flat white paper. The dot matrix printed on a glossy paper was not seeing the dots I also had to cover the honeycomb even though I tried the switch to hide the honeycomb. Between those two I was able get it calibrated.😀🛫
