We visit Llanes, a beautiful seaside town on the coast of northern Spain in the Asturias region. We haven't much time but we make the most of what we have, with a few surprises. Best watched with a serving of hard cider.
What a great video of Llanes! My husband lived there as a young boy before his father was stationed in Nerja as a Guardia Civil. He’s always wanted to return and I reckon this video will be just the thing to get him back there.... current restrictions permitting!
Welcome to what we would call 'shared space'. More common called a 'fietsstraat'. Basically it is a common space where 'economic activity is paramount and cars are 'allowed though heavily discouraged'. Bicycles and pedestrians are the main transport but cars can enter. Even cars are allowed but aren't considered to be anything other than a nuisance. Sure, people live there and might even have cars but parking is either prohibited or drastically reduced. Liveable cities/villages need those areas, guess Euclidean Zoning is just a North American thing 😉
❤
