I remember loving rusted moss until I stumbled upon this challenge lol. Took me hours of practice but I ended up liking it, after this i never struggled to move around with the hook again. A few hours of suffering and movement in the game became second nature
When I went over 200 and still didn't reach the flag I almost fell in despair... Now I'm frustrated by how close I got 😅

This is great strategy, but If you struggle with this challenge I personally recommend using shotgun. With its help you can more easily manoeuvre in mid air (in mid air you can double jump, jump after hook jump, move closer to wall/ledge after hook jump for recovery), it has more amo, and when the heavy amo trinket is used, powered shotgun jump had the same jump high as powered rocket jump, also don't forget that taken damage replenishes hook shot and you can shotgun jump after using bounce crystal
for me the shotgun's knockback was ridiculously inconsistent when I tried it for this. not sure if it's ability to do a "double jump" gets reset with ledges or something but sometimes I'd fire it straight down in the air (while using the heavy ammo trinket) and it wouldn't even slow me down
@@Martman321 My theory is that second shot is significantly weaker in terms of propulsion, but if you reload then effect is reset. If you try to use yous first shot when you fall in mid air, then use the second shot you would see the difference for yourself (pay attention at bullet counter below your crosshair). But the second shot adds to momentum of the first, so you should shoot twice every time. And i recomend if you fall to not shoot straight down, but instead slightly to the left, that way you propell yourself to a wall.
I couldn't get past 50 so wanted to check how close I got. I guess I'm not good enough for this 😅
No just keep trying. It's all trial and error until you get it right.

is there a grapple hook upgrade bc i've spent the past hour trying to beat this and i swear ur grapple hook is longer or smth?? maybe i'm just coping but urs is like blue n looks cool
Yes you can get the upgrade at the lower half of living quarters. Just go up from the Pipe area. You press down to shorten the g.hook to get a quick jump boost. The g.hook turns blue when you use it.
@@MakinaIcy this explains a lot of the kind of janky stuff i did to collect the flags/beat living quarters, thanks a ton! Didn't realize I'd actually get something if I went back to the tree I ended up just skipping the required 4 my first playthru lol
@@MakinaIcy hey thanks for this. I had gotten that upgrade but had no idea what it actually did. Am I crazy or does the upgrade just say "you can swing around now" or something equally vague?
Without using that grapple contraction, I was forced to try to build up ridiculous momentum by firing rockets upward to bungee myself up for a ton of these tight jumps. I got up to like 215m but was completely running out of time because my strat was terrible. Once I saw your explanation I nailed it!!

Barrow's Ceiling, about 5 screens left of the teleporter... Does require all the overworld jumping/climbing challenges done (and the flags associated)
