    Just some info on differences between new saragosa swa and new stradic sw. So the body is identical in both reels, but jdm stradic sw has more options where you can have different gear radios available in same size ( 6000pg or 6000hg or 6000xg). Stradic sw 4000 is pretty much a stradic fl which is more of a finesse reel, very smooth, it has worm gear and x-protect (no gasket in body plate). But stradic sw 5000 and up is a saragosa swa design, not as smooth,, and does not have worm gear but has x-shield (better sealed, has gasket in body plate). And besides the different handle knob, the saragosa has a different and stronger drag system and different spool support system. The spool of saragosa uses one keyed drag washer and also has a drag washer underneath the spool which is much larger in diameter on reels 8000 size and bigger. Also, it has a drag clicker built into the spool where bottom drag washer is and it is has a rubber seal protecting it from salt water. So 6000 saragosa swa has slightly stronger drag than 6000 stradic sw, 8000 saragosa and larger have significantly larger drag washers underneath the spool and can be used with noticeably higher drag pressures. In my opinion stradic sw is more of surf/shore reel but saragosa is more of a pier or boat reel where you need stronger drag to controll much larger fish.

    I'm still confused with Shimano SW series nomenclature. We had old Saragosa SW before, now the new version name becomes SWA. It should be SWB. But if we just accept it, it means current Stradic SW would be SWA as well, rather than the same SW name again without any suffix.

      Yeah it’s a bit strange how they’ve gone about it. I think that they should have given the Stradic SW line all of the sizes and released it in the Australian market as the 2020 Saragosa SWA. But I’ll wait to get my hands on the 6000 before passing too much judgement.

      Not slammer III for sure, way too heavy. I have Stradic sw 6000 hg and slammer 5500, the weight difference is about 200 grams, it is tiring especially for jigging. Now I only use slammer for surf fishing cuase I don’t have too hold it. Now I am going to buy another reel and I am thinking getting the new gosa.

    Your information on weight is incorrect there is only about 10 grams difference between the weight of the second series saragosa 6000 and this the third series. Weights of both are on the USA website ( in ounces) you may be confusing the weight with that of the first ( blue) series which was much heavier, as the 6000 shared the same body as the 8000 in the first series ( it just had a shallower spool)

    • @baytobluewater8165
      @baytobluewater8165  Před 3 lety

      I’m referencing the previous Saragosa SW which was released ~ 2013 and is listed on the Australian website as 595 grams. I’m not aware of any other Saragosa being released in between that one and the current SWA? It’s interesting that the weights are different on the US vs Australian websites. Possibly variation in the usdm gosa vs adm gosa?

      @@baytobluewater8165 very interesting actually the USA website which has both the new Saragosa SWA 6000 listed at 16.0 ounces the last version SW listed at 16.4 ( thats an 11g difference) ounce they also have the spheros 6000 listed at 16.2 ounces. ( same body etc as the saragosa 6000SW)
      I would be very interested if you could get your hands on an Ausi SWA 6000 and SW6000 and put them on the scales.
      ( the original saragosa (was not called SW) was blue and did not have the water proofing that the two later models had and was available up to 18000 size the original saragosa was designated F e.g. 6000F 18000F etc

    • @baytobluewater8165

      The Stradic SW is positioned slightly above the Saragosa. It’s a few grams lighter, has a different handle and different drag pressure ratings. The main point of difference is the gear ratios in each size. The other deciding factor is that the Stradic SW is only available up to a 10000 size where as the Saragosa SWA goes to a 25000. It all comes down to what you need in the reel.
