- Between July 14th and 17th, 2023, our family cycled from the Italian Dolomites to Salzburg. This leg of our bike tour began at Lake Dobbiaco / Toblacher See in South Tyrol Italy and headed east following the Drava River, then turned north to follow the Möll River towards Mallnitz. We took the Tauern Railway through the mountains to Böckstein, then continued along the Gasteiner Ache and finally along the Salzach to Salzburg.
This was part of a 5-month long family bicycle tour of Europe we did on sabbatical. See a playlist of all of the videos in order here • European Family Bike Tour

Cycling in Austria is magic! I enjoyed the via Claudia Augusta and discovered the magic of cycling through the Alps…love your video, it brings me back to the same experience! 💚
We had such a short time in Austria but it made a big impact. We really want to return for more!
beautiful. the route looked pretty flat (relative to the surrounding mountains)? going back to start watching this trip from the start now!
Yes, before the train, it was mostly slightly downhill except for the climb to Mallnitz. On the northern side, it was much more up and down but overall a loss of about 750m over 2 days. Thanks for watching! By the way, I had to re-upload several videos to fix video quality issues so they aren't in order by publish date. the best way to see them in order is via this playlist: czcams.com/video/dJtSGe0C4Mw/video.html
Amazing 👍👍👍nice view
Thanks!
Nice long bicycle ride
It was really lovely, and yet we saw so little of Austria. We'd love to return some day.
Where you said "not sure what that is", I think it's a maypole.
Thank you! I looked it up after and it certainly looks like one, but I'm still not sure because it was mid-July. I'm hoping someone can say for sure if they sometimes keep them up that long.

My favourite were Dampierre village (FR).
You might have interest to visit that location? ))
We want to return to France some day. Thanks for the suggestion.

I have been watching all your video
how did you stay in europe for 5 months, I thought visa gives only 3 months?
I am an Irish citizen, so the Schengen rule does not apply to me or my family traveling with me.
