  • Not as deep as we normally go but any hole we find were climbing down for a look. We needed to check all our gear still works aswell for upcoming videos as we havent filmed for a bit so thought we'd do it down this hole. We know there used to be a hotel here but dont know if there was a pub afterwards or this stuff is from the hotel, either way we've been walking over this and were shocked to find this 20 foot under the town.

This was originally the Well Hall Hotel, built in 1873. It closed as a public house in 1958 but was open as the Zanzibar bar/nightclub in the 1990's and possibly for a shorter time under other names. I remember there was at least a bar on the ground level and one in the basement, but not sure what the higher floors were used for. Was most recently an opticians shop, which probably explains some of the medical documents and records. It's supposed to have a two level basement, but can't tell from the video whether you were in just one or both of them.

Great vid fellas. I do like the urban type of exploring as well as your other stuff. Was brilliant seein such a massive space that people are unknowingly walking above that isnt sewers or anything. The original layout and brickwork with the arches looks to be Edwardian or even a little earlier but as i cannot see street level its hard to say. Somehow missed your last vid but just watched it now. All the best from lancashire.

carry one of those little ultra strong magnets in pocket (in a small bag in case anything gets stuck to it), those code door locks like the "private" door stick it on the top left of the mechanism and slide it down to bottom left and leave there - then it will probably open. Obviously this is only for use on a door you or a friend owns and you have forgotten the combination.
