    It's not just mopeds. It's bikers as well. Bikers follow zero of the traffic rules. They will get to a bottom of a hill and fly right through a red light right in front of another vehicle. And if a car hits them, it's going to be the driver's fault unless he has a dash cam that can prove that it wasn't.

      If only drivers followed at least half of the traffic rules I would agree with you! But all we see around the city is drivers parking on bike lanes, blowing the red lights all of the time, running over the speed limit, going the wrong way all the time! Disrespecting cyclists! Trying to edge cyclists, being aggressive, so I guess bicyclists feel like they have to get ahead of the traffic not to get nailed by a car, be asked to go on the bike lane, get honked at when they are just following the traffic rules using the same roads you do!!!!

    I drive both Uber and Lyft all around the city and these unregistered bikes are an absolute menace on the roads. As far as Uber, any statement from their spokespeople is a lie. They are all about their bottom line, that’s it. Any in-app message about safety will be only for show, and those delivery drivers will simply continue the reckless driving to make the money. Their app/system is completely contrary to their safety message. With their dynamic pricing scheme, they facilitate unsafe driving as well by incentivizing drivers to mobilize to specific spots before the rate disappears in a matter of a couple minutes. There is more talk about fraudulent workers on these platforms too that get away with all this because there is zero oversight.

    • @jackietimes2578
      @jackietimes2578 Před měsícem

      You are an uber driver! Perhaps you don’t park on the bike lanes in the city as well, because that is also illegal and unsafe! You are risking cyclists to dodge your car and get on the busy road with traffic to avoid your car, putting people on bicycles at danger as well!

      @@jackietimes2578 Not relevant to the topic, but I’ll bite. Tell your community to get their butts out to the curbside and be ready for the driver if they’re hailing a rideshare. More than half the time people are not ready. There MIGHT have been space before for vehicles to pull out of traffic to wait for passengers, but NO, we need bike lanes! And guess what, I’m not going to circle the block thru traffic multiple times, wasting gas as the alternative until my passengers are ready. Tell the city to create pickup areas because there is NOWHERE ELSE TO WAIT. And here’s a fun fact! Bicycles have brakes and the ability to change lanes too, just like the rest of us must do to navigate through traffic.
      Here’s a little food for thought specifically for the entitled ableist bicycle community. The elderly and disabled use rideshare to get to services and places around the city where there is only a choice of blocking vehicle traffic completely or the bike lane. I escorted a man who needed assistance to his building while all the entitled self centered bicyclists jeered at me while I was going above and beyond at my job. Maybe more bicyclists could use a bit more understanding that they are not gods gift and do not own the road either.

      Yes, I believe it's a little unfair to only punish the drivers and not the delivery app companies. The apps set conditions where driving like this is needed. If you don't you don't meet the requirements and apps punish those drivers.

    Too little,too late but since we're on the issue educate them that scooters aren't allowed on the Mass Pike, cyclist aren't allowed on the Tobin bridge, crosswalks are for people who are on foot.Then after dealing with the delivery drivers how about the ATV vehicles that we occasionally see.All these bike lanes and cyclist are still on the sidewalks.By doing nothing all this time has led to the full misuse of public roads.Allow the police to "ENFORCE"the laws and maybe put together a task force of officers on bikes to help monitor wreckless activity.

    Uber's excuse that the city caused this mayhem by urging them to move from 4 wheeled to 2 wheeled vehicles is a boneheaded excuse. Riding on 2 wheels doesn't give them the privilege to break laws.

    PFffff these companies would care less. 90% of those people that you see riding on one of them, are unfortunates that have no other legal means to work. That's what they do. I cannot fantom how many times I have seen a different car/picture of a delivery driver and another person, usually masked, doing the delivery. These companies know no shame when it comes to their pockets! They don't care if smb is hurt or killed by these drivers, and they don't have insurance!
