    • @ArtCakes
      @ArtCakes  Před 3 lety +1

      I just realized I actually used a 6x9 inch pan for this one but I would recommend an 8 x 12 inch. Not much different in size but I think it would look better and detailing would be easier.

      What is the weight of the sponge?
      And the weight of the cake?

    • @ArtCakes
      @ArtCakes  Před 3 lety

      I used moist chocolate cake on this one. I'm not so sure how much it weighed. Maybe around 500 to 650 grams, definitely heavier than sponge cake. With the fondant and all, I would say the total weight would be approximately 900 grams to a little more than 1 kilo.

    Where did you get the template. And the size cake you used.
    I'm also self taught,learning more as I go.

    • @ArtCakes
      @ArtCakes  Před 3 lety +3

      Cake size is 8 in x 12 in. Then I drew the guitar on a white boxboard and cut it, once I'm satisfied with the drawing, to make the template. I just had to make sure the width of the guitar is 8 inch to maximize use of the cake. I know some use their computer and print the template but I'm more comfortable drawing it.

      @ArtCakes  Před 3 lety

      Hi. For an 8 x 12 inch pan you're going to need at least 10 x 20 inch cakeboard.

    How do you pack these big size cake

    • @ArtCakes

      We just put it in the usual cake box. In our case, coz the size varies, we make a box that is just the size of the cake board.

    May I ask the exact colors that you use for airbrushing?

    • @ArtCakes
      @ArtCakes  Před 2 lety +1

      I used yellow, orange, red and maroon. For maroon, I just mixed red with a tiny drop of black.

      @ilianatsogkaraki2911 Před 2 lety

    • @ArtCakes
      @ArtCakes  Před 2 lety

      I used americolor brand liquid food color for airbrushing. I did not use gel food color on this one.

    • @ArtCakes
      @ArtCakes  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, you can make it a day before. No need to refrigerate, just keep it in a cool room(preferably with aircon). Sorry I can't comment on modeling chocolate 'coz I haven't used it. I don't know how it behaves especially with regards to temperature.

    I’m gonna try this!! Is it is possible to make the strings of fondant?

    • @ArtCakes
      @ArtCakes  Před 3 lety

      Good. It is possible to make the strings fondant but not as thin. And, in my experience, it is very difficult to hold a long string of fondant without breaking it. It would be cool if you can do it though.

    • @ArtCakes
      @ArtCakes  Před 3 lety

      @@watfordbros5440 Oh, by the way, you may also use a fondant extruder to make a perfect string. I'm just not sure if you can get enough length from one load of the extruder. Anyway, you can find a way to just hide the joint between the guitar's frets. I hope this helps.
