  • In this video I take you through the process of making white watercolour paint from egg shells (organic food waste). The use of egg shell white paint opens door to a new realm of colour-mixing possibilities and adds a new dimension to the appearance of your watercolours.
    The same process applies to obtaining white paint from foraged sea or shells or empty snail houses.
    EDIT : 1:16 : Transfer contents to the mortar ( I made a mistake while speaking)

    I wonder if my blue chicken eggs would produce a light blue pigment

    A dedicated coffee or spice grinder would work wonders here.

    You mentioned your binder not having mold. Did you make your own binder? If so, how do you make it?

    I was just watching a Vietnamese traditional painter's youtube video and he said he uses eggshells for white too! Then i thought to try making it so i searched how to make natural paint again (I searched but haven't found time to shop for binder ingredients).
    ❤️❤️❤️ Keep going! I've followed your account on my alt. channel previously. Am glad to see your videos are showing up higher on the search pages 😍

    do you find that a heavier muller really helps to grind down the pigments?
    Thanks for the nice in debth video!

      indeed, a heavy object would crush the smaller particles much better :-).

    Hi Jyotsna, so grateful for your content and inspiration. I'm curious what your advice would be for a natural / less toxic way to seal and protect our finished watercolor pieces

    • @JyotsnaPippal
      @JyotsnaPippal  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi Myranda, thank you for stopping by, and glad that you enjoyed the content. I personally don't use any sealant to preserve my work because I work with archival cotton paper and earth pigments. These colours don't degrade and so also the paper. Besides, I create art for myself. But if you sell your art then the only option I know is to frame your work in glass and to keep a gap between the glass and the artwork
      A window mount that conceals the edges of your art piece will do this, by a minimum of 2mm. If you are planning to just attach your painting to the frame’s backing board, you will need small wooden fillets to create this minimum breathing space. hope this helps.
