When the State Takes All Your Stuff (and Why That's a Good Thing!)

- You don't need all your stupid stuff! The state of Nevada took away all of my money and everything I had. But you know what!? It's all good. Cause it helped set me free. What stuff of yours is holding you prisoner? Hmmm??

When i want to rid myself of things i watch Hoarders. Keeping our headspace clear starts here. Thanks Brian!
You’re awesome! Thanks for your comment 🥰
Great advice. I look at all my stuff and get overwhelmed.
It’s so overwhelming!! All the stuff all the time 😅 it’s so hard to not automatically accumulate more stuff. ❤️
Van life sounds like something you might like
My elderly dad passed away recently and it broke my heart when we had to clean his place out. I was offered some items as keepsakes but to be honest, the weight of it all emotionally/mentally dragged me down. I hold my memories in my heart. Photos however, not that he had many, can be digitised and that is how I keep them - find a happy median. I started decluttering my place after his funeral as I couldn't bear the thought of my kids having to go through my stuff like I had to do with dad's. "Swedish Death Cleaning" they call it? Working too many long hours the past 7 years, I didn't keep a lid on it. So I donate anything of value or in very good condition if others can use it, then I feel good about that. More than happy to throw out the junk! 😅 I dislike gifts too - a little of friends' good company and time, sharing a meal together, is a far more precious gift.
Reminds me of tidying up with Maria Kondo. Our space reflects our mind. Good job on clearing the clutter 👏🏽 to free your mind.
Thanks for the reference. I checked out Maria Kondo a little bit. Hadn't heard of her before you mentioned it. I like her 6th step about checking if the item(s) in question "spark joy." I find that so much of the things cluttering up my space actually spark the opposite: guilt, disgust, dread. That is a good instinct to go by when considering one's things. I can't wait to learn more about her!! Awesome 🙂
I honestly felt heartbroken for your dad watching you throw away the time capsule. Yikes.
but I am proud of you for decluttering.
I went through this when I came out of the psych ward.
I know I felt so bad too 😞 But he actually called me afterwards and said he was happy that I got so much out of it and then moved on by getting rid of it. He understands the minimalist mindset 😊
I went minimalist 2 years ago when I packed up what I could in the back of my jeep and drove halfway across the country for a new job and new life. I moved into a tiny place, got a bed and couch and avoided accumulation of anything but necessity. I'm moving back now with an even smaller car and even less stuff and I don't care. It feels good to be free of stuff. My mom was a hoarder. When she died suddenly of cancer, my siblings and I didn't know where to start. What's really sad is that there was nothing of value. I refuse to put my kids through that. Aside from my books, I'm free from stuff!
Best day of my life was when most of my things got stolen. Now I live minimalist.. I have what I need that no one wants..😂😂
I recently found myself overwhelmed with everything around me. I moved from one state to another and thought that I had done a pretty good job of getting rid of things. But getting married 6 years ago and combining 2 houses without any major removals has caused my predicament. I find the items I truly want to see only a daily basis is being housed in boxes. It’s spring and a perfect time to fix the problems. It’s a little more complicated because we are two but in all honestly my husband is not the problem. So I begin today. Good luck darling (I’m old enough to be your mother, so please do not take that endearment out of context. Lol)
Inspiring!
👀How long did you tolerate sleep on that pad vs a mattress? I guess I’ll have to keep watching.
Haha. I actually moved to another place since I made this video and I have a mattress again. 😂 But I still have the minimalist things going on. One bowl, one plate, one spork, etc. thank you for watching
Good shit
This is an ongoing project. But it's beyond worth it
@@SmilesforMiles2024 I can’t believe you threw away grandpa’s truck drivin trophy
I think most of the shit we have would never be missed if no-one ever knew it was thrown away@@shmoelyshpread44
@@SmilesforMiles2024 I totally get that, but do you know how few people on this planet have a truck driving trophy from the 80’s? I imagine the number is tiny.
Seriously though, this actually did inspire me to throw a bunch of old sentimental shit away that I’ve been dragging around with me from place to place my whole life. The thing that holds me back is every time I move, I go through the boxes and all these old memories come back. I feel like if I don’t have the keepsakes I will lose the memories.
Please tell me you have a mattress now!
😅 yes I have a mattress again 🙂 I loved getting to meet you on your channel by the way. Leadership skills! That’s something I want more of in my life! Keep posting videos 🙂🙂
You lost all your stuff because of your illegal behavior. Own up.
