I've never bought anything from Alibaba, but I did purchase a Eahora Romeo 2 from Amazon a couple of months ago. I only saw a couple of reviews on it but I was still interested in the bike.
I did exactly what you did with, minus the price negotiations.
The rep I was dealing with, answered all my questions but it took them a few days to respond. No big deal. The bike arrived a month after I ordered it. No damage and everything working. I'll share this video with friends to help them navigate through the online ordering process for buying Ebikes online.

But I think I can change the controller and shunt mod it and get over 50 mph. The new controller will be a 72 volt. If it doesn’t satisfy me I just may purchase one on Alibaba.

Ok now tell them thanks for letting me know and if your manager is running any specials I’d still be interested. I could pay today if the price gets better. 3600$ is pretty good though, what are you looking at?

Customer service has been hit or miss for me. I wanted to lower the bar for expectation and not tell people it would be great each time but I’m glad to hear good experiences this helps people know!
