    I bought one 4 years ago. Beat the crap out of it. Over 2k miles on original chain, belt, suspension. Still fun and reliable. And I’m convinced the battery hasn’t lost a step. Or at least I can’t notice.

      They really don’t. We’re hopeful for the Arctic Leopard EX800 but it has to be compared to a modded UB bc of the price. The Freeride never took off bc, although the power and suspension are good, the range is just terrible. No one really knows what’s happening w the Dragon bc of Talaria’s problems behind the scenes. For now, the Ultra Bee wins in a category of its own.

    Spot on 👍 I still love my Surron and the fact you have all the aftermarket parts and service is huge. I made the mistake of buying one of those off brands directly from the china manufacturer. There’s no service and no parts when it broke I was shit out of luck took me forever to find someone to fix it.

    A Storm Bee almost won Virginia City Grand Prix if they had another battery. I have my Light Bee MX the very first Light Bee and I've been racing it for a long time. Literally every part but the frame is aftermarket now. I regularly podium racing against supermoto minibikes. I've broken this bike so many times I have a youtube playlist dedicated to whenever I break it. The beauty of the Light Bee is it might not be the most durable bike but the parts are easy to find now and easy to replace. Tons of aftermarket parts to make it stronger and faster. Wish I had the monies for an Ultra because I sunk it all into the Light Bee.

      I predict surron will ride the wave of their current pricing scheme as long as possible, then and it might be soon, compete on pricing and hurt competition. Surron has the most capacity the ability to produce bikes for cheaper than anyone else. Once surrons retail for 2.5k then it’s over

    My exact same thought process and set of conclusions...which is why I ultimately decided to build two surrons, with a bunch of parts from you guys. I have learned a lot from your videos and experience. You guys rock. Now, all I need is a battery and controller for my Ultra, so I can get more range and POWA. Not an inexpensive affair but you really can't compare gas bikes to a built electric bike, that is properly setup and has maximum range. Gassers are fun but ebikes are better for me in many ways, and so much easier to ride and maintain.

    A lot of good points were made here in favor of Surron. That said, I got turned down by the Florida DOT even though I had turn signals brake lights, MCO and receipt. The reason they give me was that the ultra bee is for off-road use, and the ntsa has it listed as off-road only. I had to go through dirt legal for my ultra bee.

      The obvious answer for your size is an Ultra Bee. It’s taller, stronger, and has more moto feeling suspension and brakes.
      If you want to stick with the small bikes, power and range should be your top priorities so you can enjoy the bike on day one and not feel the immediate need to add a controller and aftermarket battery. Everything else like suspension, brakes, wheels, etc are fairly universal and can be added later if needed.
      Call the shop and ask for Nate. He’ll give you much more detail.

    Love my Ultra Bee, struggling on how much I should upgrade it until maybe a Varg would have been a better choice given the power and quality suspension. I never rode dirt bikes in the past, ex mountain biker, so love the peace of an e-bike and the light weight of the Ultra. My challenge is when I take it to the MX track with my son. I've put a 21" front wheel on it with MX33's front/rear for tires. Suspension is lacking for the track so this is an obvious upgrade. If I can get away with stock power then I think it is still a great buy but if I go to a new controller and battery then I'm at the price of a Varg. It's a dilemma I do not (yet) have an answer for.

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  Před měsícem

      We have struggled with the same. After owning both bikes for a while now, Nate prefers his built UB and Brian prefers his Varg.
      One option might be to let us tune your forks and add a controller to get your power up to 16kw on the OEM battery. It’s not a Varg, but it’s 50lbs lighter and it’ll be more enjoyable off track.

    I love my Sting R MX4 but I'd like to try a Light Bee someday. The jackshaft and belt are really the only downsides as far as I'm concerned. Why doesn't Surron come out with a gearbox? It ain't rocket science ...

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  Před měsícem

      There’s a reason all other bike brands go with a belt. The Talaria gearbox has more problems than you think and our service department replaces them more often than we want. We sell the gearboxes on our store and they sell out all the time. That knocking that you might hear on your bike is a combination of the gearbox teeth loosening and binding. That doesn’t happen with a belt. If strength is the goal, a chain drive conversion fixes all reliability issues. We think this might be why so many Talaria owners are coming back to the Surron brand.

      Consider the age and how abused it is, then balance that with the price.
