We chose flat towing about 5 years ago. And we just felt that it fit our style of travel and camping better. But I seriously considered dolly towing as well.
Great video. It seems like the list gets smaller and smaller every year. We have a Ford Escape but it is not flat towable. The Escape Plug in iis flat towable but I worry about having battery and a gas engine together. The Escape hybrid does not have all of the bells and whistles we want.
We have been looking at the Ford Rangers, the models all seem to be below the 5,000 lbs limit(4,500 lbs or less), except the Raptor which is around 5,325 lbs. I believe the Ranger would be a good choice for below 5,000 lbs
Hi Steve. I wasn't sure whether the 2024 Ford Ranger was flat towable or not and that's why it's not on the list. Etrailer says that it is flat towable through 2023 but doesn't mention 2024 - www.etrailer.com/faq-can-you-flat-tow-ford-ranger.aspx And some other sources left it off the 2024 list as well.

When we started looking last year, we just thought since the Rangers for 2024 were about to come out, that all the sites just didn't know or confirm at that time. Looks like we're back looking at the 2014 or 2013 low mileage CRV's. We appreciate all your knowledge and videos!

hello ! a kia forte / soul manual or 7 speed DCT ( have to be those either or engine type ) can in fact be flat towed ! I actual myself got a 2024 Kia GT 7 Speed DCT and pull it everywhere behind motor home! please make a video about these cars they are becoming very popular the kia forte GT for sure since its a sporty car you can flat tow Reply

The Ford Ranger (2023) is also flat towable. The new 2024 is NOT.
