About Me:
Welcome to my channel! In addition to making flipbooks, I am a stop-motion animator and worked on the Oscar-nominated movies ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls, Kubo and the Two Strings, and Missing Link. I fell in love with animation as a kid and have been doing it ever since.

You animated Mrs. Tweedy during the final fight? You can be really proud of yourself. Animating the villain during the end of a movie is a big thing!
This is awesome andy!! This is a great insight if the daily struggles of an animator
absolutely
A legend is here :0
In my solo attempt in making my debut album earlier this year, I ran into so many little problems, I wound up having a meltdown that completely shipwrecked my progress. Your video has helped me beyond words. Thank you.
I needed this today. I couldn't get anything done and had a bit of a meltdown before this. I gave up and said "f it, I'll just watch youtube untill I fell asleep" and this was the first video I watched. It really helped me see things in a different way. I'll still rest for a bit, hopefully tomorrow will be better. But I just wanted to thank you for sharing this, Andy 🙏
🙏🤝
I absolutely LOVE the behind the scenes stuff. As a former TV producer, I love to see how other forms of entertainment use tech to capture the tiniest details!
Hello, I know you likely won’t see this but I just wanted to say something real quick
I stumbled upon your channel when I was 9 and thought it was so cool, you were a big inspiration for me at the time and I’d say you’re the main reason I got into animation. Glad to see you still post stuff and thank you for getting me here
Anyone else thought he was joining game theory?
Edit: For those who don’t understand, the original thumbnail had the game theory logo on it, but he changed it
me
Me, The logo in the thumbnail made me think he was in a theory video.
Lol yea
I did, but it was just a theory.
Yes, it's literally the reason why I clicked on the video
12:50 Don’t Worry Andy,You did a Great Job Specially that Holding Hands With Ginger And Molly that looked so Sweet and that’s exactly what a mother can do for her Child Every time I’ll see the movie gonna remeber that detail From you
And the Mrs Tweedy shots 🤩♥️
Thank you for sharing this, Andy. I am currently working through the final stages of my scary but amazing experience/project, and you have no clue how much I needed to hear this story. No matter how it turns out, if you did your best, that's all we can realistically ask for. Life itself is imperfect, so it's worth being proud of the great things we've made in spite of their flaws.
I’m so proud! Although we may not know each other I am so proud of you. It’s a huge step to take to go and do a new type of work and still be proud of yourself. I love how the shot went and I think you should too. I am so exited to see the great work soon. Now I can say to my friends and family in the cinemas my favourite CZcamsr did that clip! But it’s not just about that is about the journey and the work you put in, but I hope you understand that I will always be supporting you even if I cant watch all the vids you do.
Won’t keep you long.
❤❤❤
So awesome to see some more behinds the scenes! Loved your analogies and honesty throughout. Wonderful to know you feel strengthened in more ways than one after your experience. I'll be looking for all of your shots come this Friday! 🙌🏿
I grew up on on Aardman Animation. The early stuff is the best. Love a grand day out, the British gas ads.
Brilliant video! I was a compositor on Dawn of the Nugget and it's so lovely to see the gantry shots getting worked on. The shots of Molly being helped up and Tweedy falling were my shots. Amazing to see you animating them and the skill you showed on this film is incredible. What a treat it was to work on.
One of my elective classes is doing a unit on flip books and showed one of your videos
cool. I was in your class.
Good job, glad you have a dream come true, keep loving your work and everything will be alright ! For myself when I went to my very first day of work, I went sick because of stress but I have kept up and now I love my job. So anyone who's reading this do what you have to do and most importantly love yourself and what you are doing !
Lad I'm british so I have watched every film made by them which I love so I'm so hyped your working for them congrats
Hey Andy, thanks for sharing the reality behind a movie as a real human, panic ataks / happiness... Animation is not easy, and Tim Allen, he is the best buddy, always there helping out.
Thanks Ed ❤️❤️❤️
Amazing insight and story! I'm an amateur stopmotion animator and this helped alot and it was also mindblowing to see the level of detail you guys work at ❤Congrats for your patience and talent!
10,000% understand the overwhelm and imposter syndrome with getting an amazing opportunity and then working on it. It's like it's "supposed" to feel magical because it's your dream! But it turns out to be terrifying and uncomfortable but in the end, well worth it once you get a bit more used to it. Generally if you're uncomfortable, you're growing and you'll be so much happier when you're out the other end and can look back at what brilliant work you did in order to get where you are (of course that doesn't apply to everything and sometimes you do have to get out of the situation to grow and there's no shame in walking out of anything either).
I love seeing behind the scenes, but it's awesome seeing *behind* the behind the scenes 😂 it gives great insight into not only the astonishing amount of work animators do but also the personal journeys within themselves too. A lot of love and care, sweat and tears go into the work and you deserve to be proud of yourself!
Your running was great
That was so inspirational. Thanks for releasing this video, and great work!!
My 7 year old son has been fascinated watching the video of your hotdog flip book. It took me right back to my childhood, my friends dad printed on stationary from his garage and I used to pay him for flipbooks to make cartoons. I also will never forget how much I laughed when the penguin lands in the bottle in The Wrong Trousers. Me and my son are bonding together making more flipbooks and looking forward to going to see Chicken Run 2. A chance video has connected my and my son over a huge shared interest. Thankyou.x
This was very inspiring! It is really cool to see how the animation process works behind the scenes at Aardman, and it’s awesome to see you achieve your dream, even with having to get through some struggles along the way.
Nice people, like Tim and Alan and your other Sam Gamgees sure do make a posititive difference in this world! This video is also a glorious look at the backstage magic of a studio I love!
(2:09) I actually didn't know you primarily lived in the US and likely grew up living there. As I came to your CZcams channel from that 'animating one frame in real time' video you posted a while back which I found while researching for a side project I'm working on, I didn't think about it.
I grew up in and primarily live in Singapore, but am UK and Australian influenced as a result of stuff that are too complex for me to easily explain here. As such, I imagine that I could relatively easily adapt to life in the UK, Australia, or New Zealand, but similar to your experience, I would have a difficult time adjusting to life in the US or Canada. I do already translate some stuff in my mind while watching TV (including CZcams videos), though.
There are other thoughts in my mind that I had while watching this video, but I can't put those into words. I'm glad you shared your experience in a video.
This is such a cool vlog. I've always wanted to work in media but I have no idea where to start. I always wish I could just be a fly on the wall at movie sets and animation studios and watch the artists work. This fulfilled that dream a little.
Thank you for sharing, for being vulnerable, for showcasing your vulnerability to an international audience, and for being an inspiration. Great job, on both the movie and the video.
Thanks, Andy. I appreciate your point of view. Especially after a difficult day of... trying.
Saving this to listen to again and again when having the same feelings when animating myself, well said sir, I hope to get my name on a film credit some day
I like the run cycle, in my opinion it makes it look cartoony and serious at the same time.
that is awesome!!!!
Thanks Grant!
We love you Andy Bailey. We’re also proud of you of doing such a good job on Clay animated shots for chicken round the nugget. You did a really good job on this animation movie. We’re excited to see it on Netflix without you this wouldn’t be possible you are so awesome Andy Bailey.
Oh my goodness!!! So COol! Thank you for sharing! I really enjoyed both Chicken Run Movies, and I’m a fan of Shaun the Sheep…. So it was cool to see the studio. 😊
Enjoyed the parallels, the behind the scenes; however, you showed what separates the men from the boys. I dreamt of working for Will Vinton, but I’m sure I would have had a similar story. Thanks Andy for sharing the raw side.
I just finished watching the movie!!
And Molly is the voice actor of Hilda too! I love both ❤❤❤
I’m gonna rewatch the movie to see the scenes Andy animated
you are a very skilled animator and what you said years ago paid off as your name is in the credits of the film. well done.
I really enjoyed the movie, great job
Congratulations to all the artists who worked on this beautiful movie! All your hard work is appreciated! Thank you!
that is so wonderful Andy and stimulating! thank you for easing all the anxieties
Dang there shoulda been a spoiler warning. Now I know how Mrs Tweetie or whatever her name is dies, unless she doesn't actually fall idk.
I absolutely loved this Movie! Chicken Run is my favourite animated film!
Thanks for letting us be part of that!
seeing this video seeing how people worked on chicken run has inspired me to finally work on one of my projects
Wonderful insight and brave action to share this experience with us. Honesty and truth as you work and continue to learn. BRAVO!
I always love your work ❤ keep it up
congrats on all you've accomplished, i wish you continued success. it looks like you had your family with you at least. going to another place like that would be rough for me without support.
So pleased you got to achieve your dream ✨️ 😊
I saw your name in the credits, congratulations!
Great movie btw.
WHAAA YOU'VE WORKED ON DAWN OF THE NUGGET?? I ALREADY LOVE THAT MOVIE BUT ONE OF MY FAVORITE CZcamsRS ALSO WORKING ON IT??
Ok, so English is not my first language, but that small holding hands moment is just so lovely! For sure these little insights do create the whole atmosphere of the movie, people might not notice it at first, but I’m sure that in some way, it got right into everyone’s hearts. Nice work Andy, that’s just brilliant! Keep on the hard work! ✨🐔
I love your videos. Well done Sir!
That is amazing 👏 🤩
Thank you for sharing.
Always love your work. This process is really something to behold.
As a bloke who has worked on clay stop motion myself and a dream come true to work at aardman can't imagine what you felt truly an amazing animator
Plus at 6:54 I was like "What the he'll happened ro Rocky's head?!"
Before watching this I watched the movie and I think ur team and you (the team u worked with ofc not ur team) I think you all did amazing with the movie!
I love it... Thank you so much for sharing the process.
4:28 Finally, someone who does the same as me when is lost 😁.
It's nice to see even a master in it's job as you are can feel insecure sometimes because that means even the bests have their though moments while they work as everyone else, and still can learn from their mistakes to be better.
Thanks for sharing man I really appreciate it. Fun movie and great animation as well - Cheers!
youve got to put some swaz on it Gromit...TOP BINSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just saw this video and was wondering why I saw aardman in the thumbnail but then I looked at the description… AND I AM SO AMAZED YOURE THE ANIMATOR FOR ONE OF MY FAVORITE STUDIOS!!
Well done! Amazing. I just watched the film, it was fun seeing your shots.
Can't wait to see that movie! Good job animating!👍👍👍
I had a similar day working on a great design job today and feel your struggle. Thank you very much for sharing your journey and I'm very happy that you made it so far. Let's see what's going on 20 years from now. :D
Hey man, I'm one of the Puppet Makers at Aards, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching that. So great to hear what a day is like from an animators perspective as well as the stresses and self doubt etc. We're all surprisingly similar it would seem haha. Thank you! All the best
I love Chicken run!!❤
What an encouraging video! Thank you for sharing your experience. It's so neat to see what goes on behind the camera in clay animation. I appreciated your references to Lord of the Rings, and you gave some very thoughtful advice, like "Sometimes good enough is good enough," and that it's better to focus on the 99 things you did right because the 1 issue eventually fades into the whole and becomes part of the charm. I think those ideas can apply to any big undertaking, and keeping them in mind will help you to push through it. I'm looking forward to Dawn of the Nugget, and I'll keep an eye out for that hand-holding scene. God bless!
You’re amazing and it was an honor to watch your work as a preteen and now as an adult.
You’re an amazing job for animating this!
This was super interesting, thank you for sharing your experience 🙏
Great video man!
Whoa... I never thought you were struggling in the beginning and the end, but first I like how you were struggling in the studio trying to find your office it was like Henry trying to escape Joey Drey Studio while the ink demon is chasing you, that what I thought😄. I know how animators feel about fear and the deadline but I am still learning because I am 17 and the deadline put fear in me, but the way you describe it, it was quite motivating about how you wanted to change that scene and how it will affect you but you conquer your fears was just... I can't describe but amazing, I watch Disney's new movie Wish and it was my first time for an animation movie I watch till the end and when I saw the animators name I actually thought of you, the way you wanted to be in that scene I actually wanted to be in Disney movies now and not in Dreamworks and I am such a huge fan of it and that where I wanted to go, even tho I am doing 3d animation and not clay characters, my passion was 2d animation and wish was mixed into 3d and 2d and that was just an amazing movie. But you Mr. Andy you are a very good Animator you should not worry and fear my friend and you inspired me once again Thank you. For entertaining me...🫴🍿
Thank you 🙏 ❤️
You spoiled me now I think Mrs Tweedy Will fall to the crusher
“Good enough is good enough” is good advice, though your shots were as close to perfection as we want from an Aardman film. It’s the human touch that makes the clay live and all humans are imperfect; it’s what makes us human (happily and sadly).
(When I saw the pirates film I hated it: there was something vital missing. Then I found out they used CAD and CGI to make it ‘in the style of Aardman’. I don’t know if it was bigger budget but it felt a bit too shiny and ‘perfect’ but soulless and there were some logical inconsistencies plus the script wasn’t nearly as good as usual.)
So, to quote my mum, on receiving a gift made by my sister who kept pointing out all its flaws, “it’s perfect in its imperfection”!
(Nice running, and love your extra (literal) touch: it’s those tiny things that add up to make Aardman characters feel more real and why people adore them.)
🙏
This was a lovely insight, have a sub.
2:44 I actually know Adam! He's an amazing animator
same!
Woow! I got so stressed watching this! Working in Aardman is one of my dreams for future too and as you described your feelings I felt it all the way through. That consuming feeling that the shot could be better... I know it, but also with time you get the distance and start to like what you've done. And you've done amazing job! I hope one day I will set on that journey too :)
This is so inspiring to see, thank you. Your shots are incredibly animated and I’ll make sure to look for the hand hold moment when I watch the movie!
I graduated in animation this year, doing stop motion. And I’m still trying to find a way into the industry. I live in the same city as Aardman, so I’ve known it my whole life, and hope I can make it there one day too.
Congrats on being an animator for Aardman ^u^ Even though the new Chicken Run didn't feel like the old one or had the same people working on it, it still was really good (I prefer the first movie tho). I'm most happy that it's more popular than Disney's Wish! LET THE SMALLER ANIMATION COMPANIES RISE UP!
the movie was amazing!!
Well done. You seem like a great guy to talk to. I love what you do .
That is actually pretty impressive that you animated for the sequel!
I never liked Chicken Run when I was little but now that I am older I am more interested in the process and the movie. 😊Loved the video.
Proud of you man ✊
Your my idol bro..
Oh man, you worked on Boxtrolls? Such a good and underappreciated classic.
Love your videos ❤
I just watched the movie, it’s soooo amazing!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
i watched this movie being a huge fan of you but yet i didnt know you made this movie
I wish I had a Gandalf for my dreams.
It was unusual, saying like it was an adventure with Gendalfs guides
I relate way too much to the getting lost part 😅😅😅 lol
Moving to another country. its super hard😢
💯
It would be cool for you to bring more about this animation industry thing 😮
Was I the only one who originally thought this was a film theory video about Andy? 😂
