    So....what's the problem? Is it just no parts available or is there a common problem across all Ryobi mowers? Tell us more please.

    Blade motor control 285001002, have a literal pile of them in a box. Its the 6 N6005 mosfets in the control itself that go bad. Cant find any data on these fets either so looking to find equivalent component to rebuild controllers.

      I don't know. My neighbor has a Ryobi all wheel drive for less than a year & had to send it back for repair. He said the CS was terrible, ignored him/ didn't respond initially. My Honda has lasted 15 years with minimal problems. The biggest issue I've had is a bent shaft that I had to fix myself.

    You are COMPLETELY CORRECT. I have. $700 paperweight in my garage because I can’t get the PLASTIC blade hub. Ryobi parts and service are non responsive. They don’t answer the phone, they don’t fill orders, they don’t respond to emails. Basically they don’t exist.

    I've been waiting for over a year for my gas power mower Kawasaki engine recall update parts. It's NOT just electric mowers having parts issues. If gas mowers sold as much as the new battery mowers AND if you were a warranty center for them, you'd see a similar situation.

  • @MeAmJosh
    @MeAmJosh Před 4 měsíci +3

    It takes like 30 minutes to replace the electric motor in these, or you can rebuild the motor bearings easu too. Its not part availability its lack of online instruction. (Its kinda availability)

  • @normandothegreat
    @normandothegreat Před 3 měsíci +2

    Most of the ones I have repaired were the micro-switches not closing, telling the module that it is safe to send power to the blade motor. Sooo many safety switches to compensate for dummies that would probably be better off losing a few fingers! When mine ran out of warranty I bypassed all that garbage, I'm responsible enough. But I could imagine trying to run a business and not being able to get parts for what you need. Hopefully it gets better for the industry, because I am tired of gasoline products!

      I just bought a Ryobi AWD mower. I'm in Canada but I assume it the same as the US model. I'm kinda freaking out now because it was expensive but I'm so sick of gas. The smell, the noise, the maintenance, etc. I hope it lasts or is at least easy enough to repair.

    You nailed the problem. I only wish I'd seen this video before I'd purchased my Ryobi electric mower. When operational I've been happy with the mower but as of late I've been stuck using a backup gas mower I luckily kept in my storage shed as my Ryobi sits in a half-ass operated repair shop 23 miles from my home. I attempted to email a replacement request to Ryobi yesterday but I'd be surprised if they received it because emails have to be submitted through their website and I can't complete their required inclusion of model and serial number because both are attached to the mower that has been in their authorized warranty repair shop for 2-1/2 of the last 3-3/4 months. Can't wait to see how long I'm put on hold when I call them tomorrow. Oh, almost forget this classic. 11 months after purchasing my mower from Home Depot 1 of the 2 batteries crapped out. It took multiple back and forth's with Ryobi because somewhere between the company packaging the mower and my purchasing it, somebody apparently replaced one of the batteries with 1 that didn't match the serial number that was included in their data base. Naturally the implication was that I was attempting to trade a different battery than the one I had received. They eventually (rightfully) did send a replacement. I sure with I could put that battery to use today!

    Please help me with my 40v Ryobi. Mine is three years old, the battery still seems fine as far as longevity. It is cutting uneven strips of grass and I am having to mow my lawn three times to get an even cut. The blade is sharp and I am mowing in different patterns at the slowest speed. I am overlapping seventy five percent. No matter if I mulch, side discharge or bag it leaves strips that are hard to see, but when I go back over them it is picking up more grass and the next day the strips are even more noticeable. I have centipede grass and cut to one an a half inches and cut my lawn five to six times per week. It has just started doing this two weeks ago and I have not changed any settings. I did try a new blade with the same results. I have measured the deck height and the back is a bit higher, but that is normal. The front sides are at equal height as are the rear. It has a single lever height adjustment. Do yo have any suggestions for repair? Anybody.

    It's not so much the "problems with electric mowers" as parts failing prematurely and no replacement parts available. Take any common ICE maintenance item off the shelf and ICE mowers will quickly pile up just like this.

      "The dude" isn't a clown. He's experiencing the same nonsense I've been going through. I'm happy for the people that acquired a good product, unfortunately some of us haven't had the same luck and are suffering because of it. In my case I'm also dealing with a warranty repair shop that does nothing but lie, and in one instance, had a representative call me a liar when I repeated what one of their service rep's told me. The truth of the matter is Ryobi's reputation has become so tainted that all of the service centers they one had in my immediate area have bailed because of what this poster has shared. I'm surprised the crooks I'm dealing with that have my mower haven't bailed too. The first time I brought my mower in I had a direct sight line to a literal mountain of Ryobi mowers piled up in their outdoor storage area. I wish I had taken a photo of them.

    I did my homework so I bought the best rated at the time which was a Makita model and I have had it for at least 4 season's or more without any problems what so ever ! I own four pretty large properties which I cut without any issues with one being in Northern Michigan that property has alot of sand so trying to cut it with a push gas mower is nearly impossible because the sand quickly clogs the carb and eventually ruins the engine when the sand passes the filter ! I do not have that problem with my electric Makita mower the only maintenance if you call it that is i rinse off the grass if any before I store it in my garage which I did with my gas mower as well and in hindsight the electric mower is much easier to clean as well because it doesn't have all of the nooks and crannies a gas mower has not to mention it needs no oil or has no carb to clean just add a battery and go ! So yes if you want to call it a problem you may want to get a extra set of batteries in which do to the large yards I have I do use two sets to complete my cut on my larger yards . In which when cutting with gas I use quite a bit to finish as well but again the benifit of not having to go buy gas and smell like gas is a bonus as well !

    I am on my second 40V Walk Behind Mower in less than 2 years. Pretty pissed myself because I paid someone ALL summer last year to mow my lawn while Ryobi fought the repair center on replacing the first mower since there were no parts available. I did get the replacement mower in the fall.Thought I was a fluke. However, the repair center looked the same as yours.
    One year later, I am literally on hold with service right now. Have not talked to anyone and it's 39:35 min. My replacement lawn mower just stopped working yesterday. I mowed the front yard but could not start to mow the back. I have 2 batteries, one fully charged. Self propel works fine?? Not buying Ryobi again. I hope this is not the case for all electric mowers? BTW for all of you looking for common problems, my problem is the same as last year- Ryobi repair said it is common.
    FYI it takes me 2 hours to get to the nearest repair center and still on hold. BTW ... just updating... I haven't talked to anyone yet and it is now 1:11:10min

    I wonder what the common symptoms are? Those mostly look like the 21" model? My RY40180 and RY40190 20" models have been good to me except for the stupid safety cutoff problems. I have an older 20" one that doesn't have the LED lights that just stopped working but I'm willing to bet that the safety cutoff is the problem too.

Gone are the days of spending a grand plus on something, take care of it well and it will last you 10 year to forever…Now, it’s just constant buy, re-buy, rinse and repeat. How our youth are ever going to understand financial literacy is beyond me. All these kids know is just to keep buying crap every few years and nobody can save money!!!!
