    I am Alaska Native (Inupiaq and Yup’ik) and play one of the cleaning ladies in this episode. I appreciate your take on this, especially scene with the grandma. In our culture talking to an elder like that is deeply disrespectful. But she held her own speaking in Inupiaq! Lol

    • @watchwithmeellebee
      @watchwithmeellebee  Před 7 měsíci +17

      Woohoo!!! I was hoping a Native cousin would pop in and leave a comment! YAY!! It's so cool that you were in the show, how different are the climates in your part of Alaska, and the filming location in Iceland? Girl, I was soooooo mad at how she was speaking to granny, I had to remind myself that this wasn't real lol

      @marylouasicksik8156 Před 7 měsíci +8

      Right? My reaction to that scene was visceral. Alaska is so big that it has several climates. The way it looks in the show is a very dry cold, which is accurate to the northern Alaska area I grew up in. Iceland is actually a wet cold like the climate in southeastern Alaska.

    • @watchwithmeellebee
      @watchwithmeellebee  Před 7 měsíci +6

      @@marylouasicksik8156 I think I would prefer dry cold. Because even the words wet cold sound terrible to me. I'd rather be dry and cold than be wet and cold. That's probably a weird way to think about it but here I am thinking it 😂

    Rose and Navarro's conversation about being visited by the dead and what that usually signifies, reminded me of my mother and grandmother who believed in that. My grandmother referred to it as having a black veil over your eyes. She grew up in Mississippi, but her mother's family was from Baton Rouge. My grandmother said that she had been visited by the deceased, since she was a kid. Like Rose, my grandmother believed that sometimes the dead either wants to let you know that their spirit is near, or they need to deliver a message to you. After my grandfather passed, my grandmother said that he visited her for over a week and kept up their morning routine where she'd come into the kitchen and see him sitting at the table reading a newspaper. She'd go over to kitchen counter to make some coffee, but she'd turn around and he'd suddenly be gone. She said that this happened each morning until it just stopped one day. She felt comforted that he would come by, because it gave her a little time to move on from his passing. My sister used to experience the same thing, but she was terrified of it. My mother would tell her that there was nothing to be fearful of, especially if the person visiting didn't look menacing or sickly. According to her, the living are the ones who we should be leary of.

    • @watchwithmeellebee
      @watchwithmeellebee  Před 7 měsíci +2

      Yes to all of this! I'm so grateful I haven't been visited by anyone sinister, except for that one time "something" pinched me at the Gaylord hotel in Colorado. I can see why folks get scared of this kind of experience, but I'm glad I'm comfortable with it.

    • @momi1610
      @momi1610 Před 7 měsíci +2

      @@watchwithmeellebee My mother said that it takes a lot of energy for the dead to appear to you in their full form. When I was little, I used to see what seemed like a silhouette of a person. When I couldn't sleep, I would go into the kitchen where we had a small TV sitting at the far end of the countertop. I would watch it until I'd got sleepy and went back to bed. Every once in a while, I'd notice from my peripheral vision a figure passing by me. At first, I thought that I was just seeing things because I was sleepy, but my mother said that it could've been someone's spirit roaming around and that they obviously weren't concerned with me since they never approached me. So, I basically, didn't need to worry. Not sure how I'd feel about that these days if I saw some figure moving around; but as a child, it made enough sense to me back then... :-)

      Danvers was so disrespectful this entire episode. I want Navarro to pop her one time to set her straight. 😂 And let's just say, New Orleans has a way of keeping people close, before and after death. 😂 I also think that because of the way we honor our dead, they tend to stick around.

    My thought on the Dad: He spoke with the owner of the Ice Rink (and Mine) and she encouraged him to get his son to start working for her. It will start with private coaching and then...now you are beholden to the owners of the Mine. The Dad is a plant for the Mine. He is helping to cver up what Annie K and Clarkson figured out about the mine.

    Yay! I was so excited to see your review up 🎉. I think that Hank, Connelly, Clark, and some other mine people had something to do with what happened to Annie and they had to that to the scientist to cover their tracks. Also I’m with you on whatever is going on at the mine is affecting the drinking water and making people crazy. Maybe they’re slowly being poisoned some way. We definitely need backstories asap because Danvers done cuffed half the town 🤣🤣🤣.
