Special update: Heavy rain for Australia next several days

  • A blocking high pressure zone over the Tasman Sea coupled with low pressure west of Melbourne will encourage wet weather to line up along the south eastern corner of Australia for the next five days ahead.
    Rain will be held up through inland parts of VIC and NSW by both the mountains and ranges but also that high pressure zone to the east. ACT is also affected.
    Rainfall totals exceed 100mm in some locations, including into the outback.
    We also have a special mention of Bathurst with the big race on this weekend - and plenty of weather going on around there!
    Full details to Sunday in this special Australia-only update for Tuesday October 4, 2022.

    Thanks, Phil!
    From my understanding, that more heavy purple area is still flooded already from recent rain. What a difference 3 wet years makes.

    Really appreciate your videos - they were super helpful for our recent NZ trip! In regards to the inland Australia flooding... most of that area is already saturated with many rivers at major flood levels. Dams are full and overflowing. At this time of year these areas would normally be rather dry! Pretty serious situation. Search "NSW weather warnings". Cheers, James

      Saturation reports from Victoria as well via my uncle. I'm visiting Guyra from the mountains. Everything saturated along the whole way.

    The inland rivers west of the dividing range are certainly not dry. With forecasted totals this widespread these inland rivers will continue to creep up! Localized flooding is already an issue with some parts of the Murray river being several meters above the riverbank...

      @WeatherWatchTV  Před rokem +1

      Thanks Dan, was thinking about well inland when I said that, not so much in the populated places - but yes, it's a major prob. Hearing many updates about the Murray - such a big and low lying river, will keep an eye on it very closely now. Cheers for the update.
