  • Hey I am Prateek. I reside in Bangalore, India.This is my effort to show how I have taken my recovery outside in the world. I suffered a SCI T12 Incomplete in 2014 and was left paralyzed waist down, and have been undergoing rigorous physiotherapy since then. I was walking in a controlled environment at home but I thought its time I take my walk out in public and face the crowd. I have tried to do everything people of the "normal" world would do. The video is a true reflection of the immense power we all have within us. Keep fighting guys! RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE

    I'm a 58 yr old recovering from a t10/t11 incomplete spinal cord injury. Mine started may 13, 2016 after leaning over to kiss my wife goodbye. After two days of agonizing back pain and 2 trips to the ER , my disk shattered and left me paralyzed. After surgery I started out with just a slight movement of the big toe on my left foot. I had no movement or feeling anywhere from the waist down. I am now walking with a cane short distances. I'm still experiencing a lot of neuropathy, spasms and pain but the main thing is I refuse to give up. Good luck to you and please don't give up hope.

    hey you're next level inspiring that i feel numb and couldn't help but complement you. I'm gonna sound a little childish but this quote is my favorite, it has helped me and it truly defines your strength, your will and motivation so here it is " REACH FOR THE STARS EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO CLIMB ON A CACTUS" well you've crossed every limitation ;)

    How can you control ur bowel and bladder?plz help

    • @prateekkhandelwal5
      @prateekkhandelwal5  Před 6 lety

      Usually due to sensation loss, people with SCI face bladder n bowel control issues. The best way to control it is by following a routine. Example : I have monitored my water intake at specific intervals and I know after how long will I get a bladder call upon drinking one glass of water. This has helped with bladder control. For bowel movements I follow a routine where I use the washroom after having breakfast and a hot glass of milk or coffee or tea. I also use some laxatives while sleeping. All of this help in regular bowel movement and now it's not dependant on sensation. I follow a routine and it has really helped.
