  • Can't believe we finally made it to the final walk thru of the cabin in the woods post frame barndominium. Truth is there aren't any bedrooms...but it's still a great example of how awesome a post frame structure is at being a residential space. Build on a full foundation with a nearly maintenance free exterior and spacing interior, what is there not to like.

    This is a good book. Does provide a step by step introduction to how to build things czcams.com/users/postUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 , also does offer some steps. Includes pictures to give you ideas for layouts and such. If you are looking for a guide, this is not exactly what you want. But if you are trying to familiarize yourself with the way that pole barn building and other out buildings, are made, then this will work just as you need it to. A few things in this book are a barn (of course), detached garage, storage building, and coops.

    It's been a privilege to follow along this build with you both. I think you made the right decision on the versetta stone on the inside fireplace, not alternating on the corners. It looks much better I think how you did it. I would do that all the time or until they make a corner piece. Glad you said this wasn't going to be the last build! I hope they invite you both back for a party in summer 2021 when it is all fully kitted out. Great job!

      That's what I thought too. I can't imagine spending so much time, money, and effort and not have at least one bedroom or a separate space with bunk beds or something. Maybe they'll have couch beds but it's still just one big room.

    • @Verdant02
      @Verdant02 Před 3 lety +7

      Agreed, I would have used that large loft space and walled it off into three or four bedrooms and another full bath. Still a nice space regardless, I think the owner was going for something simple.

    There are a lot of negative comments regarding the layout of this building. A reminder that this channel is about the construction techniques involved with some Greg beefcake for extra interest. So lighten up you trolls. Fine Homebuilding Podcast #309 talked about insulating a barndominium. Kyle should talk to them using this build as an example.
