    The Clayton LPS II power unit really is a game changer in the camper conversion world. With that much power that re-charges so fast, you really can go off grid and still do all your cooking with an induction hob, instead of needing gas. I don't really go into it that too much in the video but I hated having gas in my camper van previously.
    1. It takes up more space
    2. It's more costly to install
    3. You have to carry an extra gas bottle in-case the one in your gas locker runs out
    4. There is an obvious safety issue
    5. You need to make sure you can get the gas type you need on the go.
    Yes I know you can have underslung LPG but that's a more expensive installer, it's getting harder to find and it's just another thing to have to think about when traveling.
    None of that is an issue when you have a Clayton Power LPS 2. These things have mega powerful, charge crazy quick from you vehicles alternator via the battery and also solar. Now you can run your induction hob, coffee machine, hair straighteners and just about anything with out the need for electric hook up.
    There is so much to explain about the Clayton Power unit, we can't get it all in to one video. We have more videos planned showing how easy they are in to install amongst other things. Don't worry though, they come with really clear, simply to follow instruction with wiring diagrams.
    These are the future of camper van installs. The electrics have always been the most complicated part of a camper van build, well that just got so so so much easier.
    I hope you enjoyed the video, please do hit that like button, it means a lot.
    Please do share this video with your conversion company or anyone struggling with camper electrics.
    As always, thanks for watching.

    I have the 2000w LP1, (2020 unit) back then there was no solar charging, clayton were great they give me all the help i needed to add a victron mppt solar charger, i added a 360w panel.
    I can run a water heater, shower, electric inverter hob, travel iron, air fryer, coffee maker, mig welder, grinder , battery chargers, everything you can use at home (not all at once) It lasts forever. The solar at 360w charges to full in the first few hours of morning sunlight, which then means that your battery easily reaches the float cycle level daily, which in turn protects and conditions the battery gives fantastic life span.
    Its mega! Everything said in the vid is 100% right, i wouldnt even dream of having anything else its tiny but massive ! Worth the money.
    Only downside and I had to really think hard, is if you leave the 240 inverter running overnight the fan starts and stops every 10-20 mins which could bother light sleepers.
    You can just run 12v on a night while sleeping which is completely silent.
    Its nothing compared to the benefits.
    Offgrid 10 days in france this year never used shore power hook up once, never had a flat batt. Aaaaand it can be taken out of the cradle and used remotly, if you fit it that way. !!!
    10000% ace!

    Without trying to knock the product this is a 100Ah lithium battery paired with a 1500 watt inverter meaning about 20 odd minutes at 1500W before you get to 20% left in the battery from full.

    • @THQAutomotive
      @THQAutomotive  Před 11 měsíci +6

      A 3000w inverter with a 160ah battery (or 2000Wh). So it would run 2000 watts for an hour or 500w for 4h, more than enough for most Campervans where a 2000W draw for extended periods us not common. And if more run time is required you can add on additional storage very soon with the new battery banks 😊

    Informative video. I’m a big fan of solar and those who like this sort of setup in their van may also want to consider it for their home. A domestic 4kW system with 11kW battery storage can now be installed for around £11k. It’s worth looking into if you like to collect power for free and want a system that eventually pays for itself., for your home.

We currently have a couple of Lead acid 100Ah batteries along with a couple of 100w solar panels. We need power for laptops and would be great to get our 240v system working off grid so we can use an Airfryer etc. We are up in Scotland, and Clayton dont seem to have any dealers up here. It is great and definitely more capable than other systems but I feel the smart move would have been to make it shaped to fit under the driver or passenger seat in “most” vans. That would be game changing! And would make it viable for kombis etc. where there aren’t cupboards. It is also very expensive and to compare it to victron the most expensive brand isn’t fair.

    • @THQAutomotive
      @THQAutomotive  Před 10 měsíci

      It's designed for the commercial market, we're just saying how it can work really in a camper. Shape wouldn't have been part of their original design for that reason. I think it is fair to compare it to Victron as that the equivalent in quality and what's most commonly used in 230v camper builds.

    Aside from the small footprint and ease of the install is the true game changer .... the abitity to recharge the LPS II 3000 from 0-80% in 30 min of driving if one also has the 1000W super booster?
    Also:
    1. How long does it take to recharge the LPS II 3000 the remaining 20% (i.e. 0 to 100%)
    2. Is it possible to recharge the LPS II 3000 via one of the electric charging points at say a supermarket or petrol station?
    And if so how long would it take? ...and would it be at 750W?
    3. There is mention of the ability to add extra batteries in the future. Any idea of the time frame as to when this will occur and what the possible options might be?

    • @THQAutomotive

      For induction hobs so you don't need gas, for a fridge, hair dryer, coffee machine maybe. To charge laptops, phones, drones, camera. To power kettles, microwaves a TV maybe. To power you lights, diesel heater etc. All while being off grind and not on an electric hook up. I agree, many don't want that much power, but in this day and age when so much can be electric, lots of people do. Including me 🙋🏻‍♂️

    There is just not enough energy in those power stations to totally replace gas or a diesel heater or the grid.I have a typical power station, an ecoflow, it holds 1 kw of power and it cost £1000. It is very good for short term use but it needs to be regularly topped up with either the grid or a solar panel, which would take forever with a typical 200 watt unit, especially on a cloudy day or worse in winter. It can typically boil an electric kettle full 4 times. Not a practical long term solution as a replacement to gas, diesel and the grid. Sorry, you are wrong.

    • @THQAutomotive
      @THQAutomotive  Před 11 měsíci +4

      I disagree and I never mentioned replacing a diesel heater. Yes an ecoflow does take forever to charge off your 12v but a 2KW Clayton LPS can charge in as little as an hour off the vehicle alternator. Yes on cloudy days you're not going to be pulling 400w from solar but you have the vehicle running as back up if you need. It also takes a lot of electrical equipment use to use 2KW. It's a good option to add a hook up for sure if you have that option on the campsites you visit. We'll have agree to disagree on this one.
