    The next set is a return to Aria but also the all arcane set. Featuring Wizards and Runeblades both with the twist of elemental. Single talent this time, for the better, 2 of each of each. Lightning Runeblade, Lightning Wizard, Earth Runeblade & Earth Wizard. Is Briar at half strength still strong? Or how about Wizard with the added tempo of Lightning. Can't wait to find out!

    Interesting take. The last true innovative deck might’ve been Hamilton’s iyslander or dunn’s fatigue briar, but I think that has to do with limited card pool. Unwanted interaction will happen more often in the future and then people will crucify LSS for not putting work in the testing phase, which I think they do a good job atm. But I do agree that we lack a bit of creative freedom in deck building right now

      I would also attribute elemental/tales have the more connective cards by far, which also begs the question of how they handle it for Rosetta, sole element cards or maybe still the dual elemental but more as a this is how it works for x and then for y while still supporting the older heroes.
      But yeah I think what the game has does competitively is fantastic and it's absolutely correct of them to focus all the resources into that. Its just that that has reduced interest to me personally. While its wonderful watching that grow its also sad to see the game dry up in minor areas especially now that I live rurally and anecdotally an actually close store carrying the game till Bright Lights and then dropping it.
      As for unwanted interaction I don't know how much it will occur or even if what occurs will hit a large number of heroes at best it would probably just be between the set hero and the other heroes of the same class. I think their design philosophy and structure just doesn't allow for it. Their best interest is to try and create bigger and better and that's being done through radically different heroes or completely new classes/talents.
      The statement about Zen really hammers home to me their passion and the wonderfully job their doing with the competitive scene, but it's gamers making a great game so I think they'll always have an adequate lid on design & testing. And its where a social format like PVE could shine as the whacky playground but its also the reason why Adult Shiyanna gets put off just as much as PVE.

      @@kllooooyy I understand the frustration of not having a “scene” locally for your favourite game, unless you have competitive minded individuals. Happened to me with keyforge and I ended up ditching the game for FAB (yey?). But I guess you hit the real reason things are as is: they’re not WOTC and need to allocate available resources efficiently. Right now people are very much geared towards the competitive aspect of the game. I guess they tried somewhat to do something about casual play with the social kit, but again, you need to have an established scene. Comparatively, in my LGS, Lorcana has gained a lot of new players and their weekly events have now as many players as FAB ones and I think it is because they reward players that bring new players in. Maybe a monthly score system that rewards not only wins, but bringing new players could be the answer to fix armories in FAB

      @@filsmartins Absolutely can't fault them and even should commend them on devoting so much to the competitive scene. But they are continuing to neglect other areas too much for my liking. Strike decks are the "innovative new product" to funnel new players into the format they semi-denounced... And I really don't like here's your armory ready deck, oh but you'll probably want to add these cards to it. Personally I feel the focus should be Competitive>Causal/New Player>Collecting (and marvels are meant to be for collecting not majestics...). But the focus is so strongly on Competitive and Collecting which ruins collecting since playables become the collectible cards rather than the actually rarities designed for it. Also the lack of follow through for anything but competitive also rubs me the wrong way... pretty sure we should've rotated through all social play kits for round table by now cause remember "they will eventually be reoffered"...

      @@kllooooyy yeah, my LGS still has loads of social kits because the on demand armory doesn’t usually fire. We have armory, which is CC and then a on demand event which usually is a non competitive format (blitz, UPF, commoner) and the latter usually doesn’t happen. Give it a couple of years? I’m sure we’ll have stuff other than competitive play happening

    It kind of seems like your issues with FAB are more issues with TCGs in general. I honestly think if you want a PvE card game you should look into LCGs like Marvel Champions, Arkham Horror or Lord of the Rings. Marvel Champions even has hero based deckbuilding like FAB and a similar resource system.

    • @kllooooyy
      @kllooooyy  Před 21 dnem

      Thanks for the game suggestions, but I do like collecting, the underlying issue for me is card utility. It's not the ev of boxes that ruin the feel of opening to me its the lack of caring for the volume of bulk which I know all games have, I just feel FaB has it worse due to the limited crossover cards have with heroes/sets.
      Personally the model thats always popped in my head is, commons could be all generics, rares class specific cards, majestics hero specific card, rather than card quality. But yeah this is just a personal issues, it's not about me dropping the game or finding something else I still like FaB and think its a great game, but more about its place on the channel.
      I was at the peak putting out 2 videos a day and streaming here and there, and going forward it will be solely if something has my true interest and passion, i.e not a competitive player so probably won't bother speculating on cards or following the meta anymore so no set reviews or Bans and Restrictions.

    Pve was not announced from the getgo, maybe from when you started but not when the game started.

      There are three PvE made by fans: Overlord Engine II, Rathe Adventures and Unofficial Rathe PvE. I liked the three of them.

      PVE has always been on the table, but the most concrete statement for it was from 2.0 where it was cited as the social play flagship. But its design has been speculated on as early as CRU with the release of the first merchant hero, although that can be connected more too UPF.

      @@ProfessorMoai While those are pretty great its just not the same as being a fully indorsed facet from LSS, most of all it would be the event I'd rigorously go too or try to form a consistent play group around. I've even taken a few cracks at designing it myself it's just not the same.
