    I'm an extract brewer and would love to do all grain but I doubt I'll ever get the gear together to actually do it.. this however looks to be the better idea.. to do semi grain and just enhance the extract.. I have just started brewing again after 8-10 yrs wishing I started again much earlier.. just finished my 3rd brew (after starting again) and can't wait for all my future brews. cheers!

    🍻 I had big plans to brew at my last house. Then I got ill, very ill. Feeling better now and wanting to brew exactly this. (Even though I can’t drink much anymore 😂)

    Well done Pierre. Great vid, as I've got a can of Cooper's 'Ruby Porter' in the cupboard.
    I'll do a search on these interweb things you talk about to look at jazzing it up, as I only ever use a bit of additional hops.
    You've got me really thinking now. 👍

    ive just done the coopers irish stout,partial mash kit, it was my first beer to be produced in the newly purchased fermzilla gen 3.2, brewed at 15 psi for 4 days, it was then at a contstnt psi of 10, for 3 days, starting og was 1.050, it fermented out at between 1.010 and 1.000,about 5.5 per cent abv, super impressed with the fermzilla,cut down so much fermenting time,plus did closed pressure transfer,wow,should have done it years ago,done many stouts over the years, i have found stouts are absolutely fool proof, and start fermenting within a couple of hours of doing mash, happy st,patricks day for monday 18th march 2024😃

    Might try this myself. Just a thought. Make yourself a graduated dipstick for that fermenter. Then you could measure the actual fluid volumes rather than trying to estimate them.

      I'm going to do that, it's probably the only quick solution that's available I think. Thanks for that 😊

    mate if yyou find your self in the predicament that you break something reach out to your subs or friends to fix it as soon as possible, ( Karren told me when I did that if you buy to you will never break one ) 😊😊😊😊

    Hi mate, when I am using dry malt and things. To make it easier I try to add to fermenter before adding any hot liquid so the steam doesn’t make it stick to your pots or measuring bowls. Also you could add to you hot pots to dissolve and then pour in fermenter. But the problem is the steam as well. Hope those tips make sense and help.

      You are spot on, in nearly every video I make I advise my viewers on doing this exact thing. I started adding dry malt before hot water to stop coagulation and help use all the powder. If this helps as I have done this before. If you add your sugars and forget to mix it, it will still ferment. The only issue is you can't get an accurate gravity reading.

    New to doing home brew. My dad did it way back in the 1980s ! Can you explain why do you add additions on top of the kits ?

    • @SimpleHomeBrew
      @SimpleHomeBrew  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I am thinking it could do with turning standard flavours of the extracts into a crafted hop infused delight at a reasonable price. A good craft beer can be up to four times more expensive.

      @@HistoryNiche it adds freshness and fuller flavours to an extract kit. It also allows you to modify the hop additions to your liking. I strongly recommend reading how to brew by John j Palmer. He covers everything: simple extract (can) brews. Extract with grain and hop additions. Right up to all grain brews. I'm following it as we speak and the book with videos like this are god sends.

    Holy shit, you shooting that fly and spreading yeast all over the floor is the funniest shit you've done to date
