We've played the game several times and haven't won once. The difficulty is extreme.

Nothing evokes mystery and investigation of the unknown quite like a visible puzzle in which you solve a case by rolling a die with plus or minus.

Board is not set up correctly. Obstacles can never be in the last position of any row during startup.
