I'm glad I saw your video and have now made a decision to apply for Cambly. I've been doing some research after hearing about it. I just moved to the Philippines after living in Chicago for 38 years and I'm now looking for employment. This will be a better choice than working for a call center. Thank you for the info. I was curious about qualifications and what to expect from students. I'm glad to hear that 95% of students just wants a conversation. That I can do. 😁

Thanks so much for this explanation! Cambly seems like a really great option to supplement your income without having to put a lot of prep work into it beforehand 😄
Thank you Nikki This is great, very informative. I am TEFL certified busy with my diploma but with no degree not easy to get work. This is a great start for me.

Hi Nikki.Thank you for the simple and clear instructions. It’s the first time I am looking for an online job as English teacher. I have a long experience about 20 years teaching face to face in class. I have all degrees possible a teacher can have ,but I am not a native English speaker. What do you recommend. Any other companies that hire experienced non native. Thanks a lot. Wish you all the best.
Ohhh geeez this is the best "how to apply" video i have seen so far. I want to become a tutor here at cambly too, but i got one question and i hope you can answer my question. Do they ask you to upload any form of id once you get accepted ? Passport,id, birth certificate ?
Hi Nikki. New subscriber here. Your details are simply straightforward and really inspiring. I am trying to complete my application on Cambly and a little bit nervous. So I started looking for tips.
Hi there, I'm from Brazil. I have been learning English for by myself, but nowadays I'm needing to get powerful on my way to talk, because I don't have any partner to get practicing. So fortunately I found out this app, and I guess it one can get my taking my experience with English off. So I'm going to looking My schedule after, for I can get my conversations through the Cambly. I hope so. So I really hope to meet this adorable teacher, right?
Hello, Thank you for amazing video on Cambly channel today. you said the word ( with /wɪθ/ ) with θ symbol - are Americans stop say ( with /wɪð/ ) with ð symbol, if not is there rules. thank you so much.
Hi Ramzy! That depends on the accent of the speaker. Most native speakers from the U.S. pronounce "with" as the voiceless /wɪθ/, however others (usually from older generations) will pronounce it as the voiced /wɪð/. You may even hear people from some regions or educational backgrounds pronounce the word as /wɪt/.
Hi Nikki----Thanks for sharing your wisdom with all of us. Can you please estimate how much you had to spend for a camera and a microphone in order to teach, and your camera in particular since I can't tell if your camera is on a stand/tripod or clamped to the top of your desktop or laptop? Thanks!
Nikki, thanks for the helpful video! I'm applying soon. Does Cambly pay you as soon as you log in as available or do you only get paid once you are connected to a student? Also do you now only have to do the 2 min. intro video? When I was going to apply a year or so ago you did a video for Cambly to see and hopefully approve then if you got approved you did the 2 min intro video for your potential students. Thank you :)
You will get paid after you connect with a student :) So you will only get paid those hours that you are talking with them. You have to be approved to do the 2 minute video as well! I hope this helps! Goodluck!
Hi, I really like your video. It's very helpful. I just wanted to ask: Do I have to choose at the beginning to teach Kids or adults or can I do both? The introduction video would be more animated for kids so does Cambly ask for two different introduction videos or is it a case of having to make the one introduction video work well for both kids and adults? Vicky
Hi Nicole thanks so much for the video! It was super helpful. I watched a few Cambly videos before but still do not know if I did my intro video right. There was no real submission button so it seems like it just submitted my application just after everything was filled out almost automatically. I was mortified as I still wanted to tweak my video. How exactly does that work? so scared I ruined my chances of becoming a Cambly tutor. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks :)
Great Nikole, I see you are an excellent speaker however it's sad to see that you are not regular on youtube, people are always there to listen to you. I hope you are doing something interesting in life. Are you still on Cambly? Neeraj from India.
So if anyone sees this, hi, I’m not a native English speaker but I’m fluent, I’ve already taught a bit and I don’t really have a distinguishable accent, would that be alright ? I was midway through filling the application when I realised you needed to be a native speaker which was a bit of a bummer aha. But anyway yeah would that be acceptable ?
I have no teaching tutoring experience and who is in the middle of getting a TEFL cert. I do have a BA in an unrelated field, but how long would you guess it would take to get established on Cambly? Is the 2 min video something you record within the Cambly website/platform? Or do you record it separately on your own time and upload the video? Also, when the student wants to use one of the lesson plans or games, does it make accessible for both you and the student to see the lesson and manipulate it? Sorry for all the questions! And thank you!
great explenation of cambly, i sent an application to cambly about a year ago but still no answer. might try again with a better video, what do you think?
Cool, thanks for sharing! I applied for Cambly on Saturday. I got an email saying it could take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks for them to review my profile and approve it. Do you know how much time it usually takes before your account is approved and activated?
I’m working on the cambly kids demo. I got in and Ive worked on both intro videos. :) I know you said you didn’t like teaching kids but do you have any tips on how to pass that recorded demo.
How much can you realistically make on Cambly? From a monthly perspective. I'm a US citizen living in The Philippines. I have money saved but run the risk of running out of money if I don't get something going soon.
Hello, I have a question regarding the first requirement you talked about. I am not a native English speaker; however, I hold a degree in Linguistics and Literacy from an accredited college from New York. I am currently working towards a Bachelor's degree in Applied Linguistics (TESOL), too. I moved to the United States when I was 13 years old. I picked up the language, and I love language pedagogy. So, do I still need to be a native English speaker in order to teach English as a second language or not? If anyone sees this comment, I would appreciate it very much if I got a response.
Hello Nicole, i found your video to be really awesome and informative. I am a Native English speaker and i am an Indian from South Africa. i recently got my TEFL certificate with I-to-I and i am also a qualified graphic designer for the past 6 years now. so i applied to a company called palfish but the app is still verifiying my experience and seeems to be jammed. so i thought that Camply would be the next best option for me. do you have any other suggestions on which path i should take ,as i want to make english tutoring my full time job.. the general conversation sounds amazing..although it seems to be hard to get hired because of my ethnicity and i already spent alot of money on a TEFL certificate.... thanks for taking the time to read my comment hope to hear from you soon...
