@@dezertfox3130 John Densmore wanted him back for the early Noughties Doors reunion instead of Ian Astbury... that was one of many disputes between him and the other two that led to the infamous lawsuit.
I never really appreciated how incredible of a performance he gave with them. I mean this is 10/10 in my opinion. I wonder if they discussed a possible side project because he has such great synergy with them. Ray, John and Robbie look so happy and excited and Ed's just like "I can't believe this is happening!!" Amazing amazing time in history. I think Jim and Eddie would have been fast friends. My Dad always said that Eddie reminds him of Jim. 💜💜💜💜💜
Just wow man what a performance by Eddie Vedder, never thought someone could sound that good after Jim Morrison, but it was so good, I think Eddie should do more of the doors songs! 💥
Epic performance!! The Doors couldn't have pulled off three hits without Eddie Vedder on Vocals. He sang in the true Jim Morrison style. The Doors needed a newer Recording of their hits, and Eddie's powerful vocals that night was the perfect time to do it. At least we have this video to bring back the vibe, with just a bit more power 🎤
cmon guys, juts like what eddie says, its just music not competition, you cant judge art!...both EV and Jim Morrison is great artist in their own respect...but eddie does done a good job on this one..bearing in mind he just learn the lyric in the car on the way to the RoR Hall of Fame...
That's right. Eddie didn't accept to be on Jim's shoes when he was asked. Ian astbury accepted the challenge and ended beaten by the fans. Jim is irreplaceable. And it is the same with Freddie Mercury, in this case George Michael denied the proposal on being Freddie's replacement. And it was the same when Michael Hutchence perished. These singers are one of a kind and can not be replaced even if the others say they're just trying to spend time having fun.
@@Xporttek777I looked up Scott’s version. Phenomenal. However I think Eddie channels Jim’s thrash/garage rock side vs Scott focusing more on the poetic emphasis and Jim’s deeper voice. Both great, but if I had to pay money I’d pay to see Eddie sing with the band!
It's nice to know that Eddie Vedder and I misheard the lyrics in the same way. It's "Gate is great, deep and wide." For years, I thought that Morrison was singing "Pain is great, deep and wide." Vedder apparently too.
rutuzzura...he performed the song perfectly...Jim performed it differently over the years and I guarantee if Jim was alive and had been there for the induction, he wouldn't have performed it as it is on the 1967 album. The "dead cats, dead rats" modification is one that Jim threw in from time to time, along with other alterations to lines such as "everyone does my baby", a more blunt line that they obviously couldn't do on the recorded album track. Eddie did great and in fact John Densmore later said that he'd only go back with the rest of the band for the right singer...and name checked Eddie as the prime example, saying "what a singer". Precisely because he wasn't being a karaoke Jim.
@jipsqueeny you dont know nothing about music little boy, Eddie is an great singer (i love PJ) but morrison was and still being a legend, the doors + led zeppelin are the fathers of rock, you have to learn more about music, and be more respectful with the legends...
Jonathan Rodriguez nobodys being disrespectful of legends....eddies a legend in his own time....just as talented...and still going strong. who isnt respecting them? more like ppl disrespecting and hating on ed .
Rutazzura doesn't get it. In my opinion an artist, especially a rockstar, would try an make the song their own so they could do a better job. Otherwise it would be like copying the encyclopedia for a paper at school.
...nono...they both r good in their own way... own style , own vocal...but relating to Covering Jim Voice..yeah Eddie sounds a little bit good as compared to scoot
EDDIE VEDDER DID IT BEST!! So who ended up singing with The Doors at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Eddie Vedder, The Door's pick. They even asked him to come on tour with them and he said no. 😊💓🤘✌️
A professional singer, a rock-star, whatever, who is not able to perform the lyrics of a rock masterpiece as they are (as well as a poem of William Blake or Rimbaud...) is not worthy of being called artist. What a shame Mr. Eddie Vedder. You had your chance but you missed it
rutazzurra vedder one of the best musicians of our day. and no hes not jim...nor could jim do eddie better then eddie if he were here. some ppl dont recognize pure...raw talent when they see it. doors in my top 5 favorite bands....so is pj
I told my wife i want this song played at my funeral 👌
love their dorky smiles after ray says “high”
this is truly amazing, they should’ve toured with this lineup
They might be remembering the Ed Sullivan show where they were asked to not say “high” but Jim bring Jim did it anyway lol
Man imagine Archy doing a cover of " The Crystal Ship"!
Eddie Vedder is such an amazing singer. He truly is a force of nature when on the mic.
yes

I love his voice so much

there is no substitute!
Excellent sir
Cant go wrong there
Add Pink Floyd and you have the top 3

Man that’s awesome 👏 wow. Great vocal.
holy moly he's great!!
Glad you like it, I have uploaded this video 12 years ago, and never bored to see the performance. Definitely a classic!

Early 90s Ed was gold. Pure gold.
Eddie’s literally the only person that would pull off Jim’s vocals well
Look up Scott Weiland's interpretation
I love Scott Weiland’s version of this! Really channels Jim well!
I feel Scott´s was much better
Scott Weiland smoked Eddie.

Vedder the only singer who could has been easily in Morrison position.
Thanks for posting this!!
Felicitaciones Eddie hubieras sido el remplazo perfecto de Morrison
This would have been a great tour.
That sounds good
PERO SI SON LOS AUTÉNTICOS. MANZAREK, DENSMORE, KRIEGER Y ACOMPAÑADOS POR EDDIE VEDDER.SALUDOS DESDE CHILE.
Robbie ❤
Welcome back 240p quality
SHE GETS HIGH!!!!
A wee glance through CZcams and it’s plain that Eddie Vedder is rocks version of Kevin Bacon
Two words for those who think this was great...Scott Weiland. Check it out.
Damn.

In that era.eddie was too COOL to perform with a goofy sounding keyboard.but since its a chance to act like morrison mr.cools gonna jump at it
Versão insana
Oque passa na cabeça desses caras ao tocar , responda Jim Morrison
??

Sorry Scott It was more and more
Scott Weiland…
Eddie is a great vocalist, but Scott Weiland was the all time best with The Doors post Jim.

NOPE! watered down version of this song. I love Eddie but didn't capture the Jim magic
Eddie Vedder did amazing! I'm a big Doors fan and Jim Morrison fan, Eddie was incredible!! Very Jim Morrison 😊💓🤘✌️

there is no doors without Jim, it just sounds and feels different and it should never be done without him
Scott Weiland is rolling over in his grave... Eddie uggh
Ed > Jim
Pretty much concur. Remember seeing this back in the day, and thought the Doors could have gotten someone better. He's OK. But not "it"!
Eddie's better than Scott by far...
...nono...they both r good in their own way... own style , own vocal...but relating to Covering Jim Voice..yeah Eddie sounds a little bit good as compared to scoot
Scott ... covers good Roadhouse Blues , Five to one , LA Women.... He has done very good
Hell no.

. Ray said Scott was the best of any of them. Densmore said only Scott could fill Jim's leather pants
a vedder fan...but weilands version was better imo
EV IS FAR BETTER THAN JIM WHATSISNAME ANY WAY
you're a dumb ass .
