I love to hear other speakers explain the same message I share in their different unique way. Karen does this beautifully and even though I think I know this stuff, I still get to learn from how she explains it.

One of my teachers said that attention and love are the same thing to most people. This is especially true for children. When the little kid says "Mommy Mommy watch me swing!" Even though she has seen it twenty six times in the past twelve minutes, the child is asking "do you love me?" If you simply acknowledge someone through something as small as a smile, you can make their day. Never underestimate the power of a smile. I have seen it flip people's days around, mine included.
I work with children a lot for my job, and this had made it far better. I understand what the kids are asking, and can make their whole experience better. When I smile at a child (especially younger ones), they are able to see me as friendly and fun. If you smile at the crying child in front of you in the checkout aisle, they will likely stop and hide behind mom, as they will feel shy.
Find common ground between you and coworkers. Talk to them, even if it is kind of awkward at first. I ask my coworkers about their hobbies and interests, and they will talk about stuff endlessly. And it is wonderful. Sometimes they go on about something you have no interest in, others end with a college lecture. It is beautiful.

Thanks for your comment Brad. I agree. Many people are leaders are hesitant to use stories. Not knowing where to find them or how to tell them. But I have case studies that show when you lean into them, you are more engagement and better performance!

This is maybe why pastors tell a story during their sermons; to engage more parts of the brain, and aid in retention.
Read between the lines people
Its more powerful not trustworthy. There are misleading stories told all the time. Who has not witnessed someone telling their story and even though its filled with elements of truth it is ultimately misleading. Storytelling is only trustworthy if it points to something that is true. It can be powerful whether its true or not.
She makes it seem so easy. It’s not!

When you say, "data doesn't change your behavior, emotions do."...I wonder if you have studied or worked with engineers?!
I don’t like this. We may all have our own interpretations of the data, but that doesn’t make your’s correct or better than other interpretations. Interpretations are going to have some underlying truth/value claims that we all ought to come to definitive conclusions on through deduction, syllogisms, and fundamental axioms relating to our shared normative ethics. Ie: if we value life, than this is true, making that true, therefore validating this opinion.
