There's something almost cathartic about watching these patch and sound design demos. I also find them a great cure for "I don't know what sound to make next" syndrome. I'll always keep coming back for inspiration 👍 great job
Best demo I’ve heard so far showing it’s versatility
It does sound lovely. One day when my cash is high and self control is low I will get one.
yeah I had that moment made easier when they just went on sale for 200$off and it was all the easier since I qualified for the first time for the sweetwater credit card. now I've got 2500$ to spend anytime I feel like I just can't live without out something also was perfect timing to get the pro 800 on pre order for 399$ man they really made up for being a couple years behind dropping the price by 33% come on a poly synth a 8note prophet 600 clone for 399 perfect thing is it probably won't be shipped till September and by then I'll have my grey meanie payed off zero apr if you can pay it in full inside 6 months yes please
One day never comes. I have that problem of no self control 🙃 and low cash... my solution is a credit card and deal with Mom 👩 tomorrow. True story LOL 😆 I say "JUST DO IT", each and every time you want gear. 😉
thanks a lot for uploading these great videos. No talking…awesome!!!
amazing. your patches are amazing. please more of the 2600... the bass is quite incredible
Great patches!!! Please keep making such videos!
Thanks! I'll certainly do
Great demo!
This is the best Behringer 2600 demo I've seen to date. I like that you didn't noodle for 30 min, barely moving past the original sound and drowning it in reverb. Thanks for showing a wide variety of sounds, very useful for us who are trying to decide whether to buy this synth or not.
That Rave Bass patch was great.
Excellent, thank you!
Superb synth! That grey color matches my Rytm mkIi
Nice demo. I just got the orange and black version (easier on my aging eyes). Lots of fun.
Nice sounds. I really like the reverb.
got a blue marvin today. Awesome job of the Behringer guys. I mainly got it for the possibilities of experimentation...I dont care if it is not 100 like the original..I will send it thru my Binson Echorec and will not stop smiling
What an excellent combo. I only now the Echorec from its software recreation and already love the sound. I can only imagine how awesome a real unit sounds
Great, thanks!
I can't wait for mine. It's shipping in August (next month).
sweet af
Clever ,thought "Melodic techno Bass" was fake ,until i saw you output the waves from osc 2 and 3 to ringmod separatly ,and had no volume except ringmod in the vca section ,hmmm. That brings ideas.....Nice demo!
There's many sounds I can recreate on the MS-20, but I still want THIS.
I'm the proud new owner of a Blue Marvin and these kinds of videos are about to be my whole world for a while lol
Great job as usual man!
my Gray is coming tomorrow and im grabbing these videos like a madman :D
@@oldfatbastad6053 my man!
what starts around 9:00 and continues till end is absolutely intergalactic fantastic …
right that was a tune for sure
Sounding great. The grey & blue ones have better capacitors in the filter, they have a more rounded heavier sound to my ears that is closer to the original. AMSynths, the designer of the B2600, discusses this in a comment on a grey vs black/orange tear-down comparison video. He mentions an optional mod, replacing these capacitors with an even more premium type since they are through-hole and could be replaced by hand. At that point the sound would be very much like the original 2600 (except more stable). But i am not the kind of guy who takes apart my synth and heats up a soldering iron! I’m happy with the sound of the Blue.
That's useful info - i might do that. Do you have a source by any chance?
That actually sounds very much better than half the Eurorack combos out there! On par with Analogue Solutions really...
Here I am with 8x88hp wondering if I need a 2600... sounds awesome. Maybe someday with a seperate Studio and not in a living room ... I am out of space :)
What are your thoughts on this one? I must say I’m not really blown away with the sound.
Tbh - I’ve never been a huge fan of the arp sound. First I really liked the 2600 but having used it a couple of days it’s again too ARPy for me. There’s something in it that doesn’t speak to me. Same happened with the arp odyssey. I guess I’m more into Roland, Cwejman and oberheim when it comes to analogue sound,
On the other hand that’s a good thing. At least it has a very unique character that others might like a lot. And other like me not so much
I must say I’m intrigued. It sounds like a proper techno machine.
@@limbicbits i agree, i love Roland they made lovely sounding synth back in the day. I have a juno 6. It’s limited but nice sound. Keep up the great content
Since my first synthesizer was an ARP, the Behringer 2600 works really nicely for me. Very melodic. I find the Juno sound (i.e. DM-12 and a friend’s Juno 106 back in the day) thinner.
Whut? I'm sorry, Mate but I AM blown away. I will take IT over a Juno. Roland always seemed too "safe" for me unless we're talking about the System 500, or even the 100. The Behringer 2600 roars for me.
Wondering how you have this already? I pre-ordered the day after it was announced in January and still have at least two more months to wait.
I’ve ordered it at Thomann right after the announcement
interesting. more bass presets please!
I really want to get this but if you had to pick between this synth & another one, what would your other choice be? $769 price point
hm. Hard to tell. If you like the Arp-Sound, then 769 $ is very hard to beat, tbh. I'm not such a big fan of the Arp-Sound in general, so my advice would be biased anyways. It also really depends on what you're actually looking for and what equipment you already use.
I had this idea to make low cost euro rack modules before Behringer started. Researched what cheap surface mount components sound just like old thru hole. Big rabbit hole, related to frequency responses, inductance, etc. You can do it, but the capacitor had to be selected depending on its circuit function and grounding, and just a very special kind would work, but not the general mlcc. Similar issue with surface mount resistors, had to be specific types. Wonder if Behringer did all that analysis?
yes, that's all part of how B modernizes things and why these take time to develop rather than just being exact copies of old circuit boards. they post about it sometimes on their facebook page.
Theres a video floating around called "Dave Smith Instruments Factory Tour"
. He talks about relaibility of SMT and shows his machines, fascinating
Cool sounds. What's the difference between the Gray one and Blue one?
None, apart from the different color. Bothe feature a real spring reverb and hand selected components whatever that means
You need to give the gray coal firelights. Turn up the brightness!!
The grey meanie? More than one sound threatened Bob.
Does it not have the same led lights on the sliders as the the black model ?
the leds on the faders on this one are all orange / red
They're on sale $200 off at Sweetwater!
Behringer drop the got synth in the 🇺🇸 already!
ultimo sonido las ostia dios mio
jajaja.
It's hard to see on my cellphone, but how many oscillates or on that 2600 ??
Three regular oscillators but you can also use the filter as simple sine oscillator when self oscillating.
@@limbicbits what a beast... thanks for the info.. it sounds awesome..
Now €485 on the Dutch online Market
cool
How is the spring reverb?
I like it. It's a bit more subtle than for example on the SYNTRX. But a little feedback here and there does the job if you want it to be more extreme.
@@limbicbits do you like it better then the digital?
@@tomburden I don't know Behringer's emulation so unfortunately, I can't give you an answer to that question. I've heard though, that it's quite nice. If you like to slam your synth for that "Dub-Sproing", then you have to get the real deal.
If it's a great synth with reverb... why using an expensive delay unit alongside ?
It is! But sometimes you just want to use a delay instead of a reverb. I’m trying to be not too dogmatic when making music, although I get that using a delay might be veeeery experimental to some. Groundbreaking stuff even
Went to the site. I didn't see any patches for the 2600
On the site you will find patches for all kind of synths. In case of the 2600 though, I recommend to watch this video in HD or 4K, hit pause and copy the patch settings for free. To be honest, I've never thought of offering patches for analogue synths without patch storage. Would you be interested in such a purchase?
@@limbicbits Yes to the last question. And thank you for responding.
1:40 wow, that was a nice feature!
Sounds nice but a little sterile - My original - in fact all the original analog gear I have sound 'alive with raw electricity' in a way that digital synths don't.
It sounds closer to the arturia than it does to a real 2600.
All new synths sound more sterile compared to the vintage. It’s a known fact. Old electronics age, get imperfections, hence sound more “alive”.
It's not digital
VitaminX Yup. Same with the Boog Model D. To people who complain about sterility: just "de"calibrate the parts a bit, if that's the sound you're really after. Then come back complaining about it not being perfectly in tune... at about 600€ I sure don't complain
@@maxhult830 These clones are what they are clones - that's not a bad thing but yes pop the back off if you want that authentic imprecise instability aka warmth of an original.
At a price that the masses can stretch to.
well i have the black orange version and my Odyssey is more my taste . i can't find a bit warmth and deep in my 2600 very strange
Shit thin sounds
I had an original Grey Meanie, this cheap thing sounds nice, but in anyway to a real ARP 2600.
Couldn't compare these both but am curious to know: What do you think is the main difference in sound?
Had one in 1972. Could have bought a nice car for what it cost. I remember writing a nasty letter to Allan R Pearlman because the oscillators drifted so badly. He had me ship it back for calibration as there were no techs in Chicago at the time to work on them. I’m waiting on my new Grey Meanie from Thomann - I’ll bet it’s a lot more stable.
Incorrect.
@@limbicbits this one sounds as late 70´s Roland, nice but no way as a real ARP.
Guy, why you cant only Fokus on the synth 2600 ? Why do you need a fk reverb/delay on it ? With reverb/delay all Bad sh.. was lovely. How can the people Look Like only the 2600 ,If you need other wardware ? Or ist this to much complicated or to cheeesey? Video is OK, bit this reverb/delay Fake IT! Sry Dude
Good demo. This thing still sounds like a complete joke compared to an OG 2600, though. While the Korgs aren't dead on either, I'd rather spend that extra money to get the smaller one, even if it's like three times the price or whatever. It's worth it. Some of Behringer's other remakes sound really good and are killer bang for the buck, but this one is shite. Just a cash grab.
Hopefully I’ll get the chance one day to give it a try. But I’d rather not always base my judgement only upon how good it recreates the original. And seeing this only as a synth by itself it still offers a lot for the money.
Independent from it being spot-on as a clone. But that’s just my take on that matter
Moving a slider is not composition. I once met a composition teacher who called the majority of electronic a pronophonic trash heap where clearly most of the folks involved don't possess much knowledge of harmony or structure. When I 1st heard his opinion I was early 20s and thought the equivalent okay Boomer but his off hand comment has stuck with me over the decades as I evolved into a more and more advanced musician. He wasn't completely wrong but that's also my reaction to P. Glass but strangely not Pärt or Reich. Who are of course not really electronic composers but related only better. Hey SOMEONE HAS to be the dissenting opinion .
we got ourselves a yapper
Did this person ever claim to be a composer? I must have missed that. Do you think it's possible that people buy synthesizers simply to have fun?
@@jilsk3153 okay okay
😂 You missed the point. It’s just a short demonstration of this synth. Nothing else. That’s what the video title says.
This is not a composition, this video consists of moving sliders, to give a display of the machine's sound
Tired of techno...
Thanks for letting me know. Interesting! You might want to share why? Also, what music do you like then?
