Well done mate , it definitely looks the goods . You do realise that there are lots of us in 300 Rally land watching what your doing and how things work or don’t depending 😂 your our test pilot and I’m following your Rally adventure with great interest.👍👍👍
I have mine in but having trouble with electrical hookup. Have you seen any instructions on connecting everything? I'm usually pretty good at electrical stuff and hitting a wall with this install
'Jeeze Shonky'..... you get a bit of rain over there and you start modifying your bike again. Joking aside, you put a lot of work into that and joining all the wiring again would have be time consuming. I wouldn't be surprised if your next project with the little red rooster is the Daka. As a video blogger, what concerns me is even with chin cam there is a little too much cockpit in the view in my videos. With your setup have given thought to that aspect? That rainy muddy ride with Dave and Nugget in the bush with all those spooky log bridges, how do think that would work? Have you considered mounting a steering damper on your bike mate? I've been researching steering dampers and it seems to be the last frontier to get any attention for the 3 hundy as I haven't had much luck. Anyway, another awesome video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Kiwi ADV. I do have my chin mounted a little higher than normal, but personally, I like to see the cockpit in the shot. It might be too much now I have the bigger roadbook etc, so I will see what I can do. I don't like the camera on top of the helmet myself.
Could you install the original dash on this tower, and then have the top part free to install a sat nav and other intercom stuff? Or is this tower not compatible with the oem dash in any way. Looks pretty cool
Hi, love the channel. I have a rally too but have dreadful wind noise, do you have the same problem? I would like to know what helmet do you use? if you don’t mind. Cheers
Hey shonky. I have one sitting in my garage just waiting to be installed but how did you support the side fenders? Also did you have to reroute the clutch and brake line so the tower would not hit it when you turned hard right? And lastly, did you have to grind down the front wheel fender? Sorry for all of the questions but haven’t seen anyone else install one Thank you!
Hi Steve, the side fenders I just supported with a longer bolt connecting them to the tower. I didn't need to touch the cables as the tower cleared them all fine. I did extend the steering stops to limit the bars hitting my roadbook, but I will reduce them because everything fits well. With the front guard all I did was put a couple of washers between it and the tripple clamp to space it down a few mm. Good luck with your installation.
Have you crashed off road or tipped over with the tower on? How it holds up on minor spills is the one thing I wonder about with them. Close to buying one for my WR though, love the setup EDIT never mind, saw that you crashed in Sunraysia. Assume the tower held up? Hope you’re healing up too!
What is involved with the wiring when moving the stock speedo up to the top? Does the new tower setup come with extended wiring, or is there enough slack in the stock wiring?
Hi mate, there is enough length in the stock wiring to move the Speedo up there. That is just my custom Speedo placement when I am running all the navigation gear for rally racing. If you have a look at my 12 month review video, you will see how I have my tower set-up now for adventure riding.
When racing, I didn't notice it but now for just adventure riding I found it a little small. I've installed a different screen now and am about to do some testing.
@@ShonkyProductions I did but only on their website and what they sent on FB in that previous convo. The big decision is frame or triple tree mounting.
@@joellaurin9007 From experience, anything attached to your triple clamps will have an effect of how the bike feels in the steering. More weight, means more mass and heavier, slower steering.
hey if you dont need this anymore, i am just thinking of fitting a CRF Rally Tower onto my L, not sure if its working but i dont see why it should not.
@@ShonkyProductions thx for getting back :) I am located in Phuket Thailand. Haha... Thanks Dale. No pressure then! 🤣
Great idea to do the adventure to rally conversion. I'm looking forward to follow this project!
Thanks Mate, I'll give it a good testing this weekend.
Looks class and thanks for the simple working explanation of the road book.
No worries Charlie. Hopefully I can use it properly in the race.
Sweeeet, looks great, awesome quality and Aussie made bloody brilliant.
Yes, it's an awesome product and the company is very easy to deal with.
Looks great mate. Well made product by the look of it
Love it mate. Looks so much better that the winking light setup of the OEM tower. Can't wait to see some pics and videos of the Sunraysia Rally
Thanks Davin, it's an awesome product! 👍
Couldn't agree more if only they'd made the oem one like that, as I do prefer the rally to the standard bike .
I like that . I use a standard manual roadbook on mine . I need one of those
Thanks, one I get the power supply hooked up it will be great.
Awesome looks good ride safe
Thanks 👍
Great job.
Thanks
What did you use for the low beam headlight? I have a set of the high beam lights on my AT, they a great.

Thanks for the aweskme video Shawn! Did you install the Gen 4 or Gen 5 tower?
Thanks, mine was the Gen 4 tower.

Was the installation plug & play with head light. Do the use same mounting point of tower installation.
Enjoy the adventure
It mounts to the factory mount and is available as plug & play.

Yes, absolutely. The tower comes setup exactly for that.
I have set it up in the rally navigation option with a different dash plate.
Hi Sean,
VERY VERY NICE 💥and perfect JOB ! -awesome SNOUT🐺-
Haha... Thanks 👍
Hi, love the channel. I have a rally too but have dreadful wind noise, do you have the same problem? I would like to know what helmet do you use? if you don’t mind. Cheers
Hi Pieter, thanks for the comments. I struggled with wind noise for quite a while until I made a fluffy cover for the GoPro case.

Haha... Thanks Jake, I was just about to tell you to watch me crash testing it. The tower held up fine.
What's the exhaust your running now ,thought it looked different to the aftermarket one you had originally.
Yes, good spotting. It's still the Moto-X system but with the muffler changed to a slip on "Akropovic" muffler.

Hmmm…instead of a road book, it might serve owners of this bike to have a gps map with that size screen.. I’d totally buy one for my rally.
Yes, after the Sunraysia Safari I will swap the roadbook for a tablet and run my GPS app on that.
Is there a weight difference between stock and this one?
The ARX tower is about 1kg lighter than the stock tower.
How was the wind compared to the other shield?
When racing, I didn't notice it but now for just adventure riding I found it a little small. I've installed a different screen now and am about to do some testing.
How did the new screen go?
Are you still running the 14 38 gearing?
I've just changed to 15/41... Ever so slightly lower.
Mate does this fit the CRF300L?
Yes, it does. Several people are now running them on the 300L
Yup.... your a machine.... its official!
That bike was meant to have a proper rally tower!
How easy was it to install?
Thanks Joel, The tower itself was easy to put on... it was the new wiring for ICO and roadblock that was a bit more time consuming.
@@ShonkyProductions I'm still deciding if I should get one of these or lynx fairing for the DR650.
@@joellaurin9007 Let me know which one you decide on. Have you seen what the ARX tower looks like on a DR?
