    Keep in mind that we are talking about a blended scotch, which is more then affordable. This is my go to peated blend of scotch. I drink this neat With just a drop or 2 of water. I highly recommend This scotch if you are on a budget.

    Teachers has developed a bit of a reputation as cheap gut-rot (much in the same way that Wild Turkey has with bourbon) but that's a shame and really not a true reflection of the expression (or WT for that matter). Yeah, it's not super complex, and the finish isn't that long, but heck, it's only $19 where I live. As a daily dram for anyone seeking a scotch in the sub-$25 range it's a winner!

      I wasn’t aware of the reputation for Teachers but definitely for Wild Turkey 😂 -C

    My bottle is 43%. Water helps with the burn. This is my go-to blend. And the fact that it's affordable is even better...

    Good to see you review such an affordable whisky. This was my go to blend for some time before I got in to single malts and became passionate about Scotch. I think it is not as good as it used to be, but that is memory, not an actual comparison.

    Teachers Highland Cream Blend whisky is much better then White Horse, Famous Grouse, Johnnie Walker Red, Grand's, 100 Pipers and so on . The price is excellent and is light Peated with high contents of Malt. to me is a winner all around.

  • @foodquig
    @foodquig Před 6 lety +1

    It's a decent blend... There are so many decent blends out there, and there are only a few like this one that are not too bland. I usually go for the Famous Grouse expressions or Chivas Regal when choosing a blend for my enjoyment...

    Hey Guys:
    Picked up a bottle of Teacher's Blended Scottish whisky around St. Patrick's day and have been enjoying it, Here are my impressions.
    SLÁINTE
    Mike
    TEACHER’S Blended Scottish Whiskey
    4/12/19
    NAS 43% ABV 1/2 bottle left
    Left the glass sit for about 15 minutes
    COLOR: Deep Gold with a mixture of Beads clinging to the glass and legs running moderately
    NOSE: A faint light fruit sweet note; transitioning to a doughy malt sweetness.
    PALETTE: Malty sweet arrival with light pepper then a medium peat smoke note rolls in. Pepper and a light malty sweetness mix with the smoke as I swirl it. It all held together with a medium creamy mouthfeel
    FINISH: A pepper Peat smoke mixture with a light maltiness around my mouth and a very light smokiness.
    With 1 drop of spring water
    NOSE: A light floral note
    PALETTE: Very Light Malty sweetness, with light Peat Smoke and more intense pepper. The light Peat Smoke is brought up more when I swirl it!!
    FINISH: Peppery and drying.
    Thank you to Mark Kauffman of Whisky Whistle for giving me the idea to try this Blend. I enjoy it. It has a very nice mixture of sweet notes and smoky peat notes, neither overpowering the other. My tastebuds lean more toward the Neat glass but with water the spice note rises up in the palette to add to the overall complexity. A Nice anytime sipper. Highly Recommended.

    Teachers is definitely one of my favorite blended scotches. I found some old dusty bottles at a small store a few years ago, and they are even better than the current bottling.

    • @trennyandcwhisky
      @trennyandcwhisky  Před 6 lety +1

      Old versions of teachers are really good! They still
      Putnout a solid product but you're right. There was something about the old version that was better. Same with black bottle. Except that one is now Isn't ever recognizable to the old version! Cheers- Trenny

    BTW I've try lots of new whiskys because of you. I'm trying this one just because of your review. The Bushmills Black Bush I tried because of you, and was a win. I'm having my second bottle of it. And also Highland Park, one of my favorites.
    And have a lot more save it to try later.

    Thanks for the review. When I switched from vodka to whiskey, Teachers was my first whiskey. I really like it. I only tried new release. I totally agree with your description. But here in Russia, where I live there is a widely held opinion is that the new release is much inferior in quality than the old one.

    • @JasonDebly
      @JasonDebly Před 6 lety +2

      It is indeed inferior to say what was made in the 90s. Main reason is that GlenDronach was a key sherried malt in the blend that complimented Ardmore. The current blend does not have GlenDronach to its detriment.

    My two favorite blends are Teacher's, Isle of Skye and Glasgow by Compass Box. The value of Teacher's is insane. I can get a 750ml for $15 bucks! I'm definitely with you guys that mixing it with a splash of a peat bomb like Laphroaig is delicious

  • @onggia850
    @onggia850 Před 5 lety +1

    You guys should do a re-review of Teacher's. I saw rumors of Suntory-Beam reformulating recently and picked up a bottle a week ago. It's not as good as Black Bottle but it is much improved indeed.

    • @trennyandcwhisky
      @trennyandcwhisky  Před 5 lety +1

      Hmmm interesting. Black bottle changed from a slightly peaty Blend a number of years ago, and lost a lot of loyal fans. Teacher’s on the other hand impressed us with this bottling. We will have to try some recent batches! Cheers and thanks for the info! -Trenny

    Thanks guys; I like that this shows malty notes over the grain....but I admit that if I want a reliable blend with a touch of peat I'd rather have a good old JW Black, just my opinion

    This whisky has gone downhill. It no longer says how much of it is peated malt, and you can tell that the proportion has been reduced, leaving a much harsher whisky than the mellow and creamy whisky we used to have.

    • @trennyandcwhisky
      @trennyandcwhisky  Před 6 lety

      Totally agree. That was the thing that set this blend apart from most. A nice hint of creamy Peat sweetness, it’s become a little more metallic in nature lately - cheers! Trenny

    nice whisky. does have a somewhat sharp/bitter fusel oil taste but that's all young whisky. very good and mostly smooth. I'd rather drink young glen grant tho, they make a fine young single malt one that's as easy to drink as this. teacher's certainly has some noticeable peatiness.

    • @trennyandcwhisky
      @trennyandcwhisky  Před 5 lety

      I think it's the slight peat on the teacher's that we like. It stands out compared to some regular bottom shelf blends.

      Key malt that is no longer there is GlenDronach and no longer the higher malt level. More grain whiskies making up the blend.
