Timing and instinct. He can judge how his opponents body leans and moves better than any I have ever seen. To make that cross work requires timing you cant just do it fast. Anybody can cross fast.
Love AI but sixer had the sixth player of the year, also defense player of the year? plus not bad PG, team build for him just let him score.and he did it. tough guy
I just cant get enough how influential this guy is to me his style his swag his playing style his handling its mesmerizing to watch dude has great charisma
That Jordan moment gives me goosebumps every time ... he didn’t really break his ankles, but the fact that it was Jordan (short shorts Jordan!) just makes it legendary
I know what you mean man I was watching that game when it happened actually did it two times first he crossed them then he stepped back and did it again
In my lifetime I've seen most of the greatest ball handles in NBA history from Zeke Thomas to Jordan to KJ to Mark Price to Tim Hardaway to Kenny Anderson to Damon Stoudemire to Kobe to Nash to Starbury to Steve Francis to White Chocolate to Jamal Crossover to CP3 to Derrick Rose to Kyrie to Steph to Kemba Walker and I've even tried to watch as much footage of those sick ball handlers before my time like Earl the Pearl, Clyde Frazier, Tiny Archibald, and Norm Nixon but Iverson remains, in my opinion, the most devastating ball handler of all-time! He advanced what everybody before him did and set the blueprint for everybody after him. Before him, you didn't see somebody who had multiple combo isos, left to right crossover, stepbacks and go's, stepbacks behind the back, hesitation dribble fake, and the ability to just break you off real nasty with his iconic "banned" crossover, etc...He will always be the measuring stick but I don't think he will be surpassed because the NBA outlawed his signature move for palming but in the '90s and early 2000s for us kids growing up, we know the NBA was simply hating because he was making a mockery of the NBA's defense!
Phenomenal comment! As comprehensive as it can get. I love the fact you researched the old school cats like Earl The Pearl, Tiny, etc. Thankful I lived in Philly those days. AI took a team and a city...dragged them to the NBA Finals.
Iverson's mid range game was so underrated. You don't lead the league in scoring if you aren't a good shooter. Prime Iverson was something we will never see because they don't make em tough like him anymore. He was a football player first so..what a special athlete he was.
the most impressive feat is how his ankles and knees stayed on his legs for all those 48 min per game, 82+ games per season, more than 10 years straight
My man Iverson.. had every color Jersey from the Sixers. This is the dude I couldn't miss. I had to watch him every game when I was younger. Broke ankles for sure
he lived in a time where the "and 1" skills weren't appreciated. But living close to Philly and watching him play three times in real life....he really made us feel like we were on top of the world...and in Philly sports it is few and far between times when you can truly appreciate something from philly and I am sad he doesn't get as much appreciation he should get....he made a million miserable philly fans stand on their feet and cheer.....and to a philly fan person that is saying alot...when he was playing the whole place was electric and we miss him
i still feel sad he didnt had a good management & players back then, one finals appearance feels few for a talent like him, couldve had been 5+ finals appearance & might a ring if he have a good teammates
He wouldn't use it every time down the court. He used to set them up by using his first step and then stop and pop after a few of those he would start hitting them with the crossover and it was guaranteed to get them because of his speed.
First and foremost he was a great athlete, I guarantee no NBA player wanted to guard him. Definitely one of the most exciting players in the past 30 years.
Let's not forget Iverson also invented the "euro step" 5:01 is from the 90's. That was Armstrong, the pg, who got euro'd/Ginobli'd/Harden'd.......I call it the AI step
Yea a 94 is bs he was rated 99 when the first 2k game came out... He's at least a 97 in his prime averaged 33 ppg 7.5 assists on 46% in 06 not many players could top stats like that
He may not be a passer for a team but a scoring machine and can beat you on a one on one anytime..the only ankle braker and king of crossover of all time!

Some good music in this video. Anyone that says A.I. is overrated is either blind or a complete fool. With all due respect to Jordan, Magic, Bird, etc., what he did considering his size, makes him the best in my opinion.
NEVER see an AI highlight where you're like he pushed off. He created SO much space with his handle that people weren't even CLOSE enough to push off 😆
"His quickness is unbelievable." -Michael Jordan
I think he was the next Jordan
The NBA would've been better lol
lol he crossed over jordan
I think if The Answer and MJ stayed longer in NBA, MJ could cope up to AI's quickness. Maybe that's the reason why AI said that MJ is the GOAT

The mere fact that you can compile 100 crossovers from a single man is a testament to just how good Allen Iverson truly is.
