This action is a MAJOR KEY for point guards bringing the ball up the floor. The Load steps allow you to pause and keep your defender off balance. Join Us!!! hoopstudy.com
These arw things you learn if you watch the best carefully. Not just highlights but little things. Mark Jackson did this, Iverson, Tim Hardaway, Marbury....90s guards brought the ball up similar to this
@@bucketboydee4727 not necessarily. Just because you picked it up that way doesn't mean others did. Im not saying I learned that way, but you see it when you watch them. Peace
DSG You see it when you watch literally ANY nba player dude, not just the best. That’s my point. These are literally the basics, EVERY decent hooper (MS, HS, College, NBA, etc.) does this. It’s literally basic coordination, if you don’t have this, odds are you’re not a decent hooper lol
Avatar Aang Nah bro, the pause step and lift are minute details that when you don’t see watching full games of many high school players (ranked or not). There are several players in the league right now that DO NOT do this. Some do (Lonzo, Ja, Butler), but a lot don’t (Murray, Harden, KD)
The number of videos about footwork that camera guys don't focus on what the coach is teaching/showing is crazyyy, OMG!! Wake up guys!! Other than that, great video!!
NBA refs give players way more leeway, not the best to watch if you tryna to teach what's a violation or not, the players paid their dues over the years so I can see not calling some things
No as long as your hand don’t go UNDER the ball then no so when u put your foot forward with the ball in your hand make sure your hand is on the side of the ball it won’t be called a carry and for traveling as long as your hand don’t go under the ball and u don’t walk with or run without dribbling the ball (unless your driving to the basket) then it won’t be a travel
you Can’t do this all the time......it’s an easy read and if ur lazy with this type of ball handling speed you will be getting trapped in that gather step because there is no protection from the off arm and if you’re not elite speed your gonna get a charge Calle using a betweenthe legs going down court into a set defense ......watch pistol Pete he has a whole series on how to bring up the ball as a po8nt without compromising your energy levels......this is gonna tire u out and make u lazy on defense
@@jstdun I've played some long pros and they are baiting the thru the legs dribble and I get ripped alot so I'm always ball myself defender and a layer of protection so I don't get pushed off my spot by my defenders momentum when we naturally cross paths and engage throughout the game. Not all defenders are the same but I find behind the back is the most effective vs all else .
I have notice people aren't teaching white kids basic fundamentals anymore. People are teaching white kids street ball rhythms and fundamental. I say white kids because most black kids don't have the money to pay for lessons. Basketball rhythms actual comes more natural to black kids.
Just rhythm in general comes easier to black people. Not sure why. Must have something to do with genetics. It applies to everything. Basketball, sports, dancing, etc.
Kids of any color dont have to pay $ for lessons, just practice and watch your fav players nba youtube highlights. Internet + determination is all they need
This channel VERY underrated. Hidden gem.
Agreed! Teaches next level nuances to the game.

I don't think he is saying to do this all the time. It is a skill to have in your back pocket
