    You do a good job instructing kids too. I remember seeing Steve Nash and Manu always doing the load/plyo step. Now kids get all the gems dropped on them.

    Im glad that this video is just about the fundementals, no crazy drills that dont translate to playing basketball.Triple threat is the only way a ball player gets open against good ball players. He has logic to what he is teaching, which most trainers don't have.

    The coach changes his pivot foot when he goes right from the left side. He pivots on his left foot when he is "jab-stepping" but then steps across the defender with his left foot first.

      These are fundamets that create every play in the game. And yes, the coach did switch the pivot and that's a travel, but every single kid are traveling in euro standards because they making a first step with a pivot leg without bouncing the ball first. But in the NBA that's not the rule.

    That 1st rip through move at 13 secs is a travel because he switched pivots. However he's still a great trainer.

      That’s what I saw also. You need to create a half dribble before the foot comes up. Meaning one low quick set up dribble into the move. He’s teaching nba moves. That’s good in the league

      No, it's only a travel when the foot is lifted before the ball leaves the hand, not before the ball hits the ground.

    Is this replacing the idea that moving the ball with the jab will sell that u r driving and shift the player? I know ball protection is very important but a great defender might c that u not fully selling the drive and know that u r waiting for him to shift

      he told that one kid not to jab. He didn't want them showing the ball. They needed to be able to get by the defender without the jab, so that when they did jab and show the ball, it was even more effective.

    No hate. Just looking for the explanation. The first move, is that a travel? The pivot foot lifts for the explosive part of the move before the ball is released... if the explanation is that it's just too quick to see full speed or that it's just too smooth then I feel it, but just looking to learn.

    can you lift the pivot foot? 0:15 - 0:20. I thought you could only lift it to pass or throw, but not to progress. Can anyone explain to me? Thanks

      you're right, he's traveling in the example. ideally when u do the move fullspeed you put the ball down faster, and the lifting of the pivot foot comes closer to the point in time at which you release the ball from your hand. Some older-school refs like calling this a travel and will be anal about it to the point where you can't even do this move. Other reffs will give the player the benefit of the doubt. In practice usually this move is *technically* a travel, but it's close enough to not being a travel that it's actually an effective move.

      You can lift your pivot from triple threat or to pass or shoot as long as the ball leaves your hand before the pivot touches the floor again.

    "Lot's of reps" is a bad idea at the beginning. Do few, good quality reps. These kids were going way too fast and not implementing what you just took the time to show them. Walk them through how to do the move a couple times, and once they have the motor skills down, they'll be able to build off of them

      I think he may be doing it with heavy reps simply because he’s got a lot of kids to train these moves to and if they’re all doing it quick he can catch what they’re doing wrong and what they may or may not be rushing to get “lots of reps” in. Makes it a lot easier to catch the mistakes

    I think ur sweep is travelling. Ur left foot moves before the ball touches the ground. It must be the ball and right foot touches ground at same time

    it looks like travel each time he does the jab step, am i right? if not can someone tell me why isn't a travel?

    He traveled.Left foot was his pivot. Then he switched pivot with his right foot!

      Nope you can pick up you pivot foot as long as you don’t put it down without dribbling

      Of course it is.. You change the pivot foot. If referees don't call it, that's another story

      Andrea is right, he established his left foot as his pivot foot then moved it before putting ball on the floor
