- A quick project making use of my 3D printed Arduino animatronic eyes. The eyelids were painted orange and suspended within the pumpkin using barbecue skewers, with the ends sawn off. The mark it leaves looks just like the little scars pumpkins normally have anyway! This video is part of a series in which I demonstrate my open-source DIY robotic eyes, check my channel to see some of the other videos in the series.
Instructions and downloadable files for all the eye mechanism projects will be released very soon - the first eye mechanism video will be released on tuesday. If you just want the files for printing and are OK with figuring it out yourself, I've put them on my website: www.nilheim.co.uk/latest-proje.... For now, check out the most recent tutorial on how to make realistic eyes using 3D printing: • How to Make Realistic ...

I would love to see this with face recognition. Every time a person walks by this thing tracks it with it's own pumpkin eyes.
Add that with a speaker and some pre recorded spooky things to say, and maybe a fake pumpkin so you can use it year after year. Id buy one.
that is precisely what I am lookignf or right now
I would love to see this with motion tracking. Have a bunch of dolls/clowns following a person with their eyes.
This looks absolutely glorious
Someone shouldnt be high when walking by this tho
The rapid blink on that eye mech is really nice dude
Awesome!
On the software front, an idea would be to move the eyes around recording the movement then review and extract sections that look particularly realistic (we're very tuned into eye movement). Then replay recorded sections based on stimuli...
Yeah, I'm getting drawn in!
Oh, no! Another project to start! 🙈😂
So cool! I love the way you integrated the animatronic into a real pumpkin. Inspired to create this myself. (But with orange irises)
I was blown away from its apereance :-) Awesome
I will wait for the instructions as they are coming soon. THIS WILL BE A FUN ONE.
That's so cool. I'll make one for next year for sure. This year I just designed and 3d printed a pumpkin lol
Wow, very impressive!
hahah this was fantastic! Nice use of the BBQ skewers!
Just seeing this. Amazing! Would have been cool if you somehow connected neopixel lights in this and made it look like it had a flame going on in the pumpkin. Maybe add a voicebox in there and make the lights and vocals sync up. Soo many features someone could add onto this! Amazing job man!
Thanks for the update! Sent you an email. Can't wait to play around with those yummy eyeballs!
Very cool
Fun idea. Would be good to do it with an artificial so you don’t have to take it apart and don’t risk moisture ruining the electronic components.
that's so cool
Add a speaker that lights up inside when transmitting sound and a mic from wherever you’d be hiding and make it talk. Eyes are so perfect for this project though - well done. Next year make an 8-eyed spider lol
Awesome
Great use of sound to strike the horror mood.
Excellent :)
Nice
Why not sell a DIY kit with all the instructions and components? There could be a huge demand for this in schools and among enthusiasts. I'll buy for sure.
I imagine you could make a killing marketing this (slightly modified) as an animatronic pumpkin kit!
Definitely I would buy, I just wonder if I would be capable of doing this myself what I would need to buy? Very clever
Awesome! have you found a good way to quiet down the servos? That's my only issue with using animitronics in a live setting that's not behind glass.
Can the mechanism be adapted to tiny steppers with a Trinamic in stealth mode? That'd quiet it down to unnoticeable level and might still keep the size small enough.
LOL so simple and stupid, I love it!
Disturbingly realistic tho.... Great work!
I wish I could do this myself I wouldn’t know where to start, is it hard or easy enough for someone that’s not greatly tech savvy to do?
I would pay food money for it already set up but I can’t find a place?
Lol, it actually looks good, good job on it, I feel like maybe you should have glued pumpkin to the eye lids to make it match more
Thanks, that's a good idea, I wish I'd have saved some of the skin!
I am in the process of building the animatronic eyes, I have been able to follow the impressive details on how to complete the project. Does anyone know or recommend a code where i can record the joystick / servo movements and play them back in an endless loop? Some code I can "copy and paste" or ready made program? I am willing to spend some reasonable money on the software to save some time. Again, great job Will, we look forward to more projects, our kids love it!😊
ESP - 32 cam supports onboard facial tracking
Jacob Lov good call!
What are the eyes made out of?
I wonder what it would look like if it's decomposed while the animatronic was still in it
Make it talk it will be extra awesome
Can't find your contact info on your website.
Brother, you are really creative, I wish you success believe me if i have money i will make you head of a company🌷🇮🇶🌷
Wow , i really wanted to make a 3D printer
Add some automation and some lights inside and palce the pumpkin some where outside, it would freak out everyone :D
needs a tongue that flicks out.
Как
Now you can have its eyes follow the girls, or snacks as they walk by, and look down when they don't stop. Roll it's eyes when a nearby guy talks himself up to a girl. 😁
If only the eyes could be purchased pre made
Only thing i can make is suits :-/ but it’s still cool, because im only 13 and i love robots and animatronics :D
Five Nights At Pumpkin's
try this with less lights, on a group of children xD
they might freakout ;) , next step would be a mooving mouth and speech
Alright, who put a mad child’s soul in it?
That would get your pumpkin smashed in a hurry, lol
well that's creepy
IM VERY H U N G R Y
