- Hello everyone! Join me in a suffer fest to reach the top of Mt. Morgan, a nearly 14,000 ft mountain in California. Then, I hike up to see an abandoned mining town from the early 1900s.

I thought that thing had died, but it has been resurrected.
Rocko had sufficed as the star of the show in its absence, but now the holy trinity of Foresty, Rocko and the Crockpot are now together. What a day to witness this majesty lol

Foresty's crockpot literally got me into using a crockpot. I have the exact same one too, it used to be my parents'. I had to dig it out.

Yes, Foresty does listen to his audience. And if enough people make repeated comments over and over again, requesting the return of the jingle or the crock pot ( or both ), he will eventually bring them back to make us happy!!
Crockpot! Sometimes I think about if Rocko had landed with a family that did a couple walks around the neighbourhood and maybe a visit to a dog park. What a life she is living with you. So much adventure. Really refreshing that those cabins haven't been trashed by ding dongs.
I don't know for sure, but I would bet that there are volunteers who stay there to prevent that. I used to work for the US Forest Service in California, and unless facilities such as that are securely locked up, and/or visited regularly by staff or volunteers, or stayed in by volunteers, they do tend to get vandalized.
I think for the last 3 years my comments to FF were always "get a dawg", "get a dawg"......a great life for dawg, it's improved his too I bet !

@@bcanuck He has some booties for Rocko. He's mentioned in earlier videos that he checks her feet regularly during snowy hikes and carries her if/when feet are having trouble. She's not fond of the booties.
I am honestly so glad to hear someone else mention Dick Proenneke's name. I have admired that man for a very long time, and how fitting as you, Forresty, could easily be seen as something of a modern age version. That mining town is truly impressive, and clearly such a community investment to be respected and taken seriously. Long may it retain the expansive depth of artifacts that allow one to immerse themselves in a lost lifestyle of grit and determined perseverance, to provide us with the foundation of the luxuries we all know today. This was a superb video, even above so many others of yours. Thanks for the walk through time.

@@doberski6855 Ya, I'm so soft, I could never keep up. I remember seeing a video of someone who got to hike with Foresty once and he couldn't believe how fast he is. I mean, I think 20 km in a day with 800m elevation is LOT.

Y'know, Forrest... when I was a kid, I was a wage slave working for peanuts in the sweat shops too. Gawd, how I hated it and how I dreamed of having adventures like yours. But I had a family and responsibilities and though I got out of that life eventually... I never got round to having the adventures you have. By the time I was able to get away it was too late. I was too old for grueling hikes and climbs. Thanks for these vids, kid. They soothe my soul and make my day. I like that you are including travelling companions too. That little lady is quite the driver and scrambler and a good companion to have if something should happen. Take care, Forrest! 100 thumbs up!!!
Still go for walks in nature. Even if it's a half mile. Just go at your own pace and enjoy. Please still go out

It's annoying when the snow has a crust on top but is kinda soft underneath. You're just up to your knees or further and it's super difficult to make headway. Kudos for cracking on through it.

I started with the minivan and frozen in winter Walmart parking lot video whenever that was and then proceeded to watch literally every video on Simon's channel and have been subscribed for years. Love it
Go back to the beginning, to the cycling videos way back to 2014... Same F.F., different medium! He did some amazing tours, with the best relaxing style of filming and editing, etc, even back then! Even Iohan Gueorguiev ( czcams.com/play/PLOrCDDpk39gq3jG4ftOO9JXuCONU_p4nM.html ) listed Simon as one of his major inspirations. Both of them inspired many long distance cycle tourist, including me, to get off the the highway and onto roads less traveled.

I got to say every time I see you riding your bike and you got the dog in the basket. It reminds me of the wizard of Oz with Toto in the witch I don't know, but that's what it reminds me of. I find it almost terrifying comparing the mining in that picture from the 1920’s to now. Just a short trip historically -100 years and yet look what we have now. The technology now is overtaking us humans at a ridiculous rate. I cannot prevent the feeling that we humans are becoming obsolete.
