Citizen eco drive or Seiko solar. Divers 200m of course. You buy once, they serve you forever without issues, without battery replacement, without problems.

After watching videos and reading reviews for a few days, it seems obvious the movements in these watches are reliable for the most part, but the lume fails long before the said 25 year projected life, and other problems crop up along with incidences of poor reliability and poor factory service that make me conclude the luminox brand is way over priced way over rated and there are other watches costing less that give better reliability and so on for far less money. Just stamping navy seal on the back doesnt guarantee a top quality watch

I have had several Luminox. One issue with crown coming off and one that gets moisture under crystal. Sent one with crown to RI repair shop and they told me they would have to replace full works. $125. I paid $140 for it. said, forget it. The one with moisture I have had siliconed or some waterproof gunk around crown stem, but moisture still enters. I really like the Luminosity for night time, bedroom. If you look around you can find these $300/400 watches for half price or less . I do landscaping so I put them through the rigors. In general, they keep working. I continue to purchases them when I see a Smoking Deal. Thanks David!

So do you repair or replace? Ive been doing the half price thing for years and i finally have 2 that need work done. Your crown issue, and another is working but on cold days i get the condensation/moisture issue.
I was kinda hoping that if i got them worked on they would return bomb proof, but im prob dreaming.

They are extremely useful tools if you need performance/agility. But a g shock will weigh slightly more but probably do more for you

I have the old navy seals with plastic case, and I have another navy seals with steel case. I bought both of them a long time ago when they were well used and pretty beat up. I've changed batteried numerous times and they keep running fine. The tritium doesn't glow as bright as it did but it is enough that I can easily see it when my eyes are acclimated to darkness. All of mine are well over 15 years old now. I wear one or the other every night, and I wear them sometimes during the day as beater watches. I think the new prices are a little high for what you get but the selection in new watches with tritium is somewhat limited. I have another Luminox, a larger stainless steel diver watch but not in the navy seals look. It is also pretty old, has had numerous battery changes, and still runs well.

Personally I have a soft spot for Luminox and wear a 3583 chronograph daily. But the brand has gotten a bad reputation. There was a class action suit for selling watches that fogged under the crystal. The speculation is that they cheaped out on gaskets and didn't bother properly testing. I've also heard that servicing these pieces is a nightmare.

I personally love my 3583 luminox chronograph but there are complaints about a cheap Rodon quartz movement in a number of their timepieces. I would recommend you do some research on what you want, but I'm confident that mine keeps accurate time

I was interested as well and did a shitload of research. Apparently they're not the greatest watches and the whole Navy Seals thing is kind of a gimmick. The guy who originally created them now has his own company and they are supposed to be superior watches. They're called ProTek.

Here in the UK its £200-250 to get the tubes replaced at the official service centre. I was issued an OG Traser 20+ years ago and its sat in a drawer the last 10 years with dead tubes. I got a quote recently and whilst I would love to have it done the cost is just way too much. Kind of puts me off buying another tbh.

There's a shop in Hong Kong that will not only replace the tritium but will also change the color of the tubes. I intend on sending my 3583 there in a couple years and getting red and blue tubes
