    I have followed Jason's college and NFL game, i am a Penn State fan and a commanders fan, and I will tell you this much, he is a much much better receiver than he showed last year, i firmly believe that Eric Bienimy was a detriment to the offense last year.

      Agreed. EB should not have been allowed into Commanders camp, regardless of his so-called credentials. Everyone regressed in his offensive scheme, some more than others. Even studs like BRob didn't see the ball, even though they were killing it in games with back to back big runs. EB would just pull people for no reason at all.

    Great analysis John. I agree with you that as Jahan improves on using his hands on press coverage off the line, it will increase his chances to get open more often. The other parts of his game (route running, open field moves, catching ability etc) are as solid as any other WR in the league. The detriment and regression of his game last year was partly his fault but IMO had a lot to do with quarterback play, OLine performance and mostly how EB used him in the ridiculous vertical route schemes. I believe Sam did not look Jahan's way in many games even though he may have been open. As soon as Brissett stepped in it was like BOOM, BOOM, Jahan was catching passes from Jacoby but Sam just was too scared to throw deep for whatever reasons. Same with Wentz throwing to Jahan his rookie season. He was leading all rookie WRs in receiver play before his injury. I think many people forget this. I think Jahan will be fine. His small frame should not hold him back. He just needs to get better in the one or two areas he's developing in and everything will take off for him.

    Jahan dropped a few passes on clutch plays that lead to losses as well. Loved his rookie season just hope he figures it out this season!

    Thank you John (and Bobby) for conducting this interview. Like you, I was most frustrated last season by Dotson's production relative to my expectations for him; I hope Dotson's been able to improve his hand use, release and separation compared to last season. Dotson needs to be able to handle press or he'll face it most of the time.
    It's put up or shut up time for Dyami Brown; if he can consistently contribute to WR blocking and be a down field threat, that would be fantastic.
    Can one of the WRs help with kick-off returns? Is Allen showing anything?

    • @craigsmith4518
      @craigsmith4518 Před měsícem +1

      Bienemy was sabotaged by Rivera by playing Howell. No coordinator would have flourished with Howell at QB. It's clear they were tanking otherwise Howell would've sat behind Brissett like Maye is doing in New England.

      @@craigsmith4518 Not so sure about this. At mid-season, Sam was the middle of the pack in QB play and was outperforming QBs like Jordan Love etc. I think EB just corrupted Sam to the point where he got progressively worse in the latter part of the season as opposed to getting better.

  • @michaelhinton2738

    Let's be honest! In today's NFL a 1000k yards is not that impressive anymore,terry had a handful of yards over 1k..it's like 60 yards per game

    • @jj18057
      @jj18057 Před měsícem +2

      Terry has the 2nd longest consecutive 1000 yard seasons at 4. If 1000 yards was no big deal this wouldn't be the case

    • @markjones3436
      @markjones3436 Před měsícem

      I agree. 1000 yards a season is less significant now with a 17 game season. There will probably be 18 games a season fairly soon making it even less. 1500 is going to be the new 1000 for receiving yards.

  • @ayoutubewatcher7009
    @ayoutubewatcher7009 Před měsícem +2

    Oof, good kid but he’s not a #2..let’s look at Riveras 1st round picks,,, Young Davis Dotson Forbes.. never mind his 2nd round picks.. that has to be the worst drafts in the same time frame in the nfl.. just like our d line,, overrated

      Did you watch his rookie season? LOL. He was leading ALL WRs in OROY before his injury. Even after an off year last year, he's still leading all the Commanders WRs in TDs for the past 2 years.

  • @robertwilliams3887
    @robertwilliams3887 Před měsícem +1

    I’m tired of this Narrative!
    Commanders nation please stop
    Nakia led the NFL in drops with 13 compared to 5 from Dotson.
    Can’t even begin to compare the two offensive coordinators from last season. One is out of the league and the other is preparing for training camp. Howell would’ve gotten all the credit in the world for the WR production so he also deserved the blame

    • @dmvbay2535
      @dmvbay2535 Před měsícem

      Correct. Howell was scared to throw low percentage intermediate to deep passes and it got worse as the season progressed. As soon as Jacoby stepped in, he was hitting all the receivers, Jahan included. Wentz also had no trouble finding the wide open Jahan in his rookie season. Jahan was on target for OROY before his injury. The fan base easily forgets these things.

  • @lockedonlaw
    @lockedonlaw Před měsícem

    I have zero confidence in Jahan Dotson becoming a legitimate #2 WR. He'd be better off in the slot but that position was filled in the draft. Terry McLaurin is not even a #1. He's nowhere close to the 135 receptions or 1,800 yards or 13 TDs or 18 YPC or 112 YPG or any measurable that would objectively make him a #1. Luke McCaffrey might become a legitimate Slot WR.

      @kwf1358 Před měsícem +6

      Your opinion is definitely your own. So its really no point in having any kind of debate with this kind of response without proper context. Starting with the fact that Washington most important position has had journey men occupying it since both said WR's was drafted. Your Terry McClauren statement is just ridiculous. But carry on.

    • @lockedonlaw
      @lockedonlaw Před měsícem

      @@kwf1358 McLaurin is not in the top 25 in receptions, yards, or TDs, even though he is in the top 20 in targets. He wouldn't even be a WR2 on several teams. There's nothing to debate. I know you want to blame the QB situation but Terry's best season wasn't #1 WR numbers. He has just over one-half the catches for just over one-half the yards of the top WRs and a catch percentage under 60. In a year where his QB threw over 600 times, over 25% of those throws (132) to him.
