- Welcome to the 1,000-yard Rifle Clay Pigeon Challenge hosted by Roaming Shot Outdoors! A monthly challenge where we take up to 5 fans to come test their marksmanship on clay pigeons from 100 to 1,000 yards.
On the range, we have 5 sets of clays at each of the berms, from 100
out to 1,000 yards. Shooters will fire at their assigned lane starting at
the 100-yard berm and work out to 1,000 in 3:30
minutes and 15 rounds total. Shooters must hit their
clay to proceed to the next distance in a modified know-your-limits
format. Points will be earned increasing at each distance. 10 at 100,
20 at 200 and so on for a total of 550 points.
Fantastic Video, I had the opportunity to take their 8 hr long range course last weekend and the class and level of instruction was fantastic! highly recommend these people and the range.
Enjoyed watching. You got an interesting competition going...keep it up.
@@zeusgsxr thank you we just filmed episode 2 it will be posted next week
Notice the 700 ran far smoother than anything else!
Gotta love the good ol 308
Basic build shooting 308 wins. Amazing how many FTFs on the chassis rifles.
Wonder if that is where lot's single feed practicing and haven't run their mags much?
the short 6s like 6br, 6dasher and 6gt are finicky. takes mag tuning for them to be real good.
@@McgSpook
Thanks, only similar cartridge I have loaded and shot is 22ppc. I can see where the short, fat cartridge with sharp shoulder degree could cause issue. Being as I'm built similiar!😅
@@kentuckywindage222 no idea about that AI in 6.5 though. no excuses on that one lol
Dude please do a million of these videos. All of these PRS challenges are the best shit on toob. Super well done and unique challenge.
“Like catching a bobcat by the tail”
Interesting game.like to see it become more popular. I must say I was surprised at the number of feeding problems experienced by all of the shooters. This particularly surprised me with the 1st two who were shooting expensive custom rifles. Was this problem due to short, sharp shouldered cartridges? I hope you keep this sport alive and expand its popularity.
@@patrickshannon4854 I believe it was more nerves being on camera for the first time than anything else, appeared to be they were short stroking the bolt.
Thank you we’re doing what we can to keep it Interesting and to get new shooters involved.
Just found this video and enjoyed it a lot. Subscribed.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The most fun to watch was the last shooter basic gear still shooting super good.
Looks like a fun challenge. Everyone except the 308 had feeding issues and he did great. Work on tuning your mags.
I agree there’s a lot of feeding issues. Some of it may be mechanical a lot of it was nerves , the camera and a dozen people sitting there watching you makes a little tough. Thanks for your feedback.
You would think that a 5000 dollar rifle wouldn't have these problems with loading !
@@russhayes4882 it was more nerves then the rifle
These days nothing surprises me, look at texas plinking, he had nothing but issues with that Cheyenne intervention
Great job guys! That's a good challenge!!! Next go around will be a bit easier
That was jammin... Literally 😅
Slapping that trigger like it owed you money
Couldn’t believe how many feeding and action issues on the first two fellas, for the price of them setups they should run flawlessly, good vid mate, subbed, cheers Yogi 🤙✌️🇦🇺
Yeah. Most guys first time on camera it was more nerves then the rifles.
Yep. First mag was not factory. Second mag ran flawlessly
Good stuff guys!
Thank you it was fun to do
@roamingshot subscribed, look forward to more 🍻
@@tonygillahan thank you we will do another challenge at the end of the month
Seems like everyone was having fun, good shooting. Were some of the pigeons rubber instead of clay or were the shoots just zipping thru? A lot of the called hits looked like misses, not saying they were, just difficult to see, maybe zoom in a little closer. Also why are shooters running the bolts like they were loosening 18 wheeler lug nuts lol. Thanks for the video though, I enjoyed watching it, look fwd to the next one.
Everybody’s first time on camera everybody was nervous lol. Trying to film through a spotting scope can’t zoom in too far on the first couple targets due to having to quickly engage the next one. We will get better at it. The champion clay pigeons did not explode like the other brand so the bullets were just zipping through them on the closer shots. We purchased some active plays for the next challenge we do. Thanks for the feedback. Glad you enjoyed it.
didn't help that while we were doing the interview portion it rained on the freshly placed clays. I think it softened em a bit. doing a dry run a few weeks prior they all shattered.
Excellent
Thanks
Make this a weekly series I love seeing these 10000$-20000$ rifles shoot like crap makes me feel good about my factory guns shooting to 1000yrds impacts
I sure would like to see 300 WSM vs 300 PRC at a 1000
@@f22cap2s2k as in most impacts, tightest groups???
@@roamingshot Great metrics to judge by, especially if the barrel lengths are equal. Seems a lot of manufacturers want to do the 300WSM in 20" and 300PRC in 26", but to be fair, both in a 24" would be very interesting. Sure, the 300PRC is going to have an edge, but with ammo availability overshadowed by both the 300WSM and 300PRC, and given that the 300WSM is nearly identical to the 300WM in a shorter action, is the 300PRC even worth buying now?
@@f22cap2s2k we can turn that out. Give us a few weeks to get all the parts together
@@roamingshot My man!
❤❤So the second shooter had allot of problems chamberin ,,it blows my mind how expensive allot of this rifles are yet there terrible at chambering a round !!! and its so common its ridiculous ,one day i can only hope that someone spends the time on making that chambering function a simple one !!
Is there any plans to make any PRS style shooting setups?
Are you referring to videos or at the range? At the range, we have several different target set ups for PRS as well as several obstacles and we have more being made now..
@@roamingshot different obstacles to shoot from.
@@coastallures1417 I like it, let me and my team do some brainstorming and will come out with something
Very good shooting, how to calculate the bullet from 100 to 1000 yards?
Everybody there is running some sort of ballistic program they get to zero their rifle at 100 yards when they get there and true velocity at 1000 yards
@@roamingshot Ok if you have a good bullet counting software please guide me
It’s the MACHINE LOLOLOL
Are those Houses back there on the other side of your Berm?
No not for miles
where are you guys located at?
@@christopherscott6794 we are in Slaughter, La
Great content- just upgrade video on targets so we can see hits and misses better
We’re working on that. We found a reactive Clay pigeon that should show impact better. Thank you for the feedback.
10:52 are you sure that was a hit?
Yes it went through the clay at the 1 o’clock position
Where in Louisiana is this?
North of Zachary
Only an 1hr 45 min away from me. Nice
@@MrKKUT1984 come shoot the next one it’s next weekend
Are they meant to jamb up like that all the time
No nerves got them
The first couple of shoters was to much in a hurry....and the problem with reloding did disturbed them. They should NOT have problems with this simple thing as reload their weapon.....think of it in a sharp situation....no god...
If you know the timelimit then you know how much per shot....
Time is one thing. A room full of people, time, and a camera on you for the first time can rattle you pretty good.
I had to stop watching all of the feeding problems .
Sign up for the next one come show us how to do it we would love to have you out
Benfabre@roamingshot.com
That poor guy does not know how to run that ai
It’s tough with a camera and a bunch of people watching you when you have never done it before.
