I don't think it has been touched on, but the effort from Payne Haas was incredible to watch as an avid Queensland supporter. I can recall about 4 kicks from Queensland where Payne Haas was the only player covering in defence. Then the final play for NSW, he was the only player that ran through the line with effort (apart from Teddy who was taken out) to try and score.

I don't know why you don't have a back up for every position on the bench..I know it's not much, but you must have a cover for every position in case an injury. Blues got caught in both games with no one that covers center..

I don’t see the downside of having Burton on the bench. Why couldn’t Cook go 80 at hooker or if he needed a rest chuck on Murray at hooker for 10-15. Burton on the bench would’ve offered us the same versatility as Wighton, covers the halves and centre, he’s a big boy chuck him on at lock for a bit, offer something different to Yeo
*QLD could’ve won 50+ if they didn’t make many mistakes and unnecessary risk.* Fitler said it’s impossible to cover all positions. Murray at centre and Cook in the middle would be fine. But yes, Burton too.

This is Origin. Defense wins games or is the deciding factor. In NRL games, we have seen those same attacking runs result in tries. Tonight we saw QLD team under pressure and defend relentlessly. QLD also managed to score from those brief moments of opportunity.
Going to be a big ask to put together a BLUES team that can be fully prepared to prevent a 3rd game loss.
I have been openly critical of Cherry-Evans for a long time however his performance last night was outstanding. The entire Queensland team played hard for the full 80 minutes and NSW could not stay with them.
That cover defence tackle will stand out as one of the best. He is carving his own legacy since JT retired.
Love the Queensland team and I'm a South Australian.

I feel like most of QLD players or ex players are super cerebral. Selecting players who fill roles and then coaching the team to play as one. Their attention to detail, recognising danger in defence, recognising weaknesses in attack are on another level. There were barely any stoppages in the game for long periods of time and QLD’s defence was impenetrable. They have an identity and impose their will and spirit onto NSW and they have absolutely no answers.
What is NSW’s identity? What is the NSW spirit? I feel like these questions really need to be asked and answers need to be found otherwise this is going to be another long dynasty for QLD.

NSW are coached like the game is still being played as if it’s 2003 whereas QLD are coached for 2023..
