    You have combined my two favorite loves - driftwood and (more recently) epoxy! The best part by far is that turbo shaft!!! Whaaaatttt?? All this time I have been wishing for a tool like that but had no idea they existed. Thanks so much for sharing! I’m dying to get a turbo shaft now though so I can do one of these!!!
    Beautiful work!

      It was already very, very dry when I found it 👍

      I found a small piece of wood that a beaver chewed both ends into and chewed all the bark off of.The chew marks have left a beautiful pattern all over it.I was wondering if I could coat it with resin without first sanding it??I found it several years ago and it is very dry to the point of cracking open badly.I thought to fill the cracks with some color and then clear coat the whole thing.

    • @EpoxyWood
      @EpoxyWood  Před 11 měsíci

      @@stevechance4422 It is difficult to fill in the cracks with colour without sanding, so if you want to keep the pattern as it is now - coating it with resin (using a brush) is a good idea. Alternatively - if you do not want a gloss finish - it is possible to mix resin with acetone (1-1 ratio) and coat it in exactly the same way (using a brush). It will stabilise wood and hopefully prevent it from further cracking.

    How did you prevent the Epoxy leaking through the driftwood end towards the base? I just made a lamp following your tutorial. The Epoxy drained from the LED conduit and made a mess on the carved wood base I had made. I could not find the glass stones on Amazon. I did find 1" pyramid shaped glass nuggets.

    • @EpoxyWood
      @EpoxyWood  Před 3 lety +2

      9:55 - I used epoxy glue to prevent leaking. Hot glue would be good as well. I did not use a large amount of epoxy, I probably had no more than 2mm at the bottom of the carved out section, so in my case nothing leaked as the hole I had drilled for the base was above the epoxy layer. But even it it wasn't, epoxy glue is best to prevent leaks. I bought the stones here in the UK, there is a link in the description. Not sure if they are available outside the UK. If not, 1" pyramid shaped glass nuggets sound great too!
