    You can find the lifestyle you want in Chicago and/or suburbs. You want quiet neighborhoods, you can find them. You want neighborhoods where you can step out & see excitement & activity, you can find it.

    I've lived in both the north and south sides of Chicago. I live in the suburbs now, but if I were young, living in the city is fun. The problems Chicago faces is faced by all big cities. Watching Chicago evolve into what it is now, it has turned for the better. If people think it's "bad" now, they never lived here in the 80s.
    If you want to live in a major metropolitan city, Chicago beats LA and NYC in terms of costs, but not overall choices in things to do and see.

    I love this video! Chicago is, by far, one of the best places on Earth. I do agree with you that the summers do not get enough love and the winters get waaaaaaaaaaaay too much attention. We have a running joke that the second a snow flake falls in this city, it's all over national news, local news, Weather Channel, etc. The wonderful summers never, ever make news! Good video.

      haha, I can tell from your previous comments you hate the weather here. I hear ya, it's brutal and the biggest thing that sucks about Chicago.

    I was born and raised in what is now called Ukrainian Village, from 1946 to 1972, when I got married and moved away. It was a great place to grow up in and my old neighborhood is better than ever. So much to do and great transportation. Everyone I know who has visited Chicago says it is beautiful and clean and residents are very friendly. If the police were allowed to do their jobs, I think all the violence on the south and west sides would end. The people need to vote in some qualified leaders who care about the city.

      I think your criticisms are valid, and I think the solution is as nuanced as the problem itself. On the plus side - our credit rating went up twice!

    I love Chicago the winters are bad and I'm from Anchorage,Ak lol. I find that the snow plowed for the city are on par with other cites that get inches of snow in an hour.

      that's an interesting observation, people come here knowing the winters are bad but don't understand that the city services that deal with snow are miles better than other cities. In dallas it took days

    I lived in Chicago for 5 years.
    But years before I moved there I began collecting photography books on Chicago.
    I was so intrigued with the skyline I took a trip out to Chicago.
    My trip met my expectations and a few years later I moved to Chicago from Philadelphia.
    A few people told me it's like a clean New York City. My living experience in Chicago is that it's not like New York City at all.
    I also lived in New York City for 7 years.
    People who compare Chicago to New York City don't know what they're doing when comparing cities. Chicago is not a mega city but New York is.
    Chicago compares well with Toronto.
    Overall my experience with Chicago is that the city is affordable with nice real estate ( housing). But lacked the energy and diverse culture I was looking for living there fulltime.
    Chicago is Segregated and do not have any central place in it's downtown core that people from different backgrounds mix.
    You know like clubs and bars that are racially mixed.
    Also Chicago do not have a central iconic trendy square for it's citizens like Times Square in New York City or Dundas Square in Toronto or Picadilly Circus in London.
    Why????? I'll tell you why!.
    That's because Chicago likes being Segregated.
    But it's still a great city.
    Those are my pros and cons.

    • @AndySellsChicago
      @AndySellsChicago  Před 2 lety

      Philly I very much appreciate your comment, I've had a similar background (minus philly). In a nutshell the world is a beautiful place and there are just so many options for us to find a piece of our life in each corner. Would love to hear more about Philly!

    I'm planning a trip to Chicago and am a smoker (cigarettes), I see that Chicago is a smoke free city...can you really not smoke in the city. I know you don't like smokers but it's a drug and I'm hooked hahaha. Any help would be appreciated.

    • @AndySellsChicago
      @AndySellsChicago  Před rokem

      haha, sure. Most places will allow you to smoke outside - typically we have covered awnings (especially in the city) where smokers can do their thing. I don't think a business outside of casino's allow for smokers. We're still traumatized by the Chicago Fire

    I pay 8k in DFW TX property tax … education is low, healthcare, food, etc all lack in Texas. It’s very diverse tho, but lacks culture. Its weird.
    Either way, I’m hoping I’ll be moving back home to Chicago after 20+ years. Taking a wife and 2 kiddos.. 3 Texans who will be shocked for the good while living there 😎
    Affordable homes and affordable food something N.Texas doesn’t know anything about

      Exactly! The train is one of the best parts of the city, but after COVID they hardly run- the red line in so packed during rush hour that people are squished, you can hardly breathe. Not to mention how absolutely disgusting it is. I’ve witness ppl spitting, smoking weed and crack, I’ve seen a man sitting in his own shit, running down his legs, I wanted to throw up from the smell, had to get off and miss my train, late to work bc I don’t wanna smell human shit for 30 mins. Yeah. The cta is a disaster to say the least, I could go on and on
