- Simplified is a new series on PowerDrift that aims to make automotive concepts, technology and ideas as easy to understand as possible. These short videos take the questions you have and clear the air around the what, how, why and when. And this time, we're talking about the sidewall of your tyre which has enough text on it to make a court filing look brief. What do those numbers on your tyre mean? Shumi finds out.

Hey #PDArmy, we hope this solves your queries about the tyre markings! If you have something more, do let us know below!
Types of engines, their benefits, drawbacks and use cases.
Engine braking, rev-matching and extending clutch lifespan.
What does 2.75 or 3.00...etc mean..?
Recalling from one of your previous video - Synthetic vs Mineral engine oil (and all the variants in between).
Thanks PD army for this.
Can you pls make a SimpliefiPD video or a regular video on Intercom systems that a riding gang can use? Also these are bluetooth based systems, can we have radio based intercoms as well?
Each and every day this channel is becoming our source of knowledge. Thanks we want to see this type of videos more
Thank you Somonjan! We shall have more for you guys!
Exactly bud!
Years of doubt removed in 6 mins. Doc Sumi was excellent. The animations were great as well
Thank you!
It's actually prof.Shumi.
Seriously u didn't knew this ? Any kid who drives even a small bike knows this.
@@AneeshChowdhury Why are you watching this if you already know it all?
Also, why do you feel the need to boast on a comment where someone goes to learn something and gives feedback about it? Sounds like it comes from a place of insecurity...
@@deus_ex_machina_ seems Aneesh is an expert of all these things and I expect him to start his own youtube channel to explain these things in a yet more better way.
If shumi taught me my subjects , I'd have have cleared IIT 😅😅
Kudos to team for great content... Loved it
I don't know who 'dislikes' such informative videos presented in a very simpler way.
Haters maybe
Love these episodes! Schumi would make a very nice teacher 👍
He's already a teacher at the TWO riding school! :D
I guess PD can start a Motorcycle University with the Dean being Shumi :) Great great job ... keep doing these typo videos.
Thanks Vignesh!
@@shu_mar btw I have booked RE meteor 350. Test drove the thing, instantly fell in love with it. Waiting period of 3 months and it can't wait to meet its fz16 version 1 brother in my garage
@@vigneshs4595 Did you ride the Hness ?
@@tanujsingh1331 Yes .. it is good too. But I feel more comfortable with Meteor, it's stance, height and u have to see the future maintenance costs as well .. don't want to be at the mercy of a single big wing dealer .. jawa 42 snt that great .. it's like riding mojo modified with a retro look .. there s no such jawaness left
We need more of this. PD is hands down the best Indian automotive channel out there and by bringing in content like 'Simplified', you guys are hitting the ball out of the park. Kudos to all your effort, stay healthy, stay safe. ❤️
Awesome!
Hi Shumi... appreciate that you have got the Tyres topic.. but you haven't mentioned anything about the tread design...
Can you please make a specific video about the concepts of tyre tread.
Personally, I see what the manufacturer claims the tread design does and go with that. There’s no real way for a layperson to see a tread pattern and make anything more than good guesses at what it does for the tyres performance.
Thank you @shumi, cleared my doubts, I posted this question a few weeks back on Simplified, Thanks for answering
Soumi the saviour, demystified the tyre concept for us. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Would love to see another content on changing lanes on highways and it's norms and also bikers info at it .
Very simple but informative and useful thank you
Really amazing, please keep the series going!
Awesome stuff! Always found it difficult to comprehend... thanks @PowerDrift for making it Simpler! Cheers!
Love the Simplified series.
Superb video. On point and simple explanation !
Hi Shumi

Love the simplified series. Getting to learn a lot of things from our all time fav Sumi. Thanks

These episodes are really great.... The animation and the explanation was spot on and really helpful !! Great Job!!
Sumi's each and individual review about the tyres structure and the categories is somewhat excellent.
Thank you shumi Do more videos at least once a week it's very helpful for enthusiast
Shumi does it again.. Valuable info.. Thank you for this video..
Professor Schumi. Awesome and crystal clear explanation.
Thank you AK!
Thanks a ton for this video. I have looked this up before but nothing satisfactory. This was perfect.
Awesome!
Thanks a lot.. will you please simply about the after market disc brakes for the cars
My motorcyling knowledge has increased to a great extent since I started watching PD!
Awesome Shumi. Learnt alot today
Glad to hear that, Prasad!
Loving your knowledge about bikes ❤️❤️❤️
Hello powerdrift
I knew how to read tyre....but I love how u explain
Happy to hear that! :)
Very informative, thanks for sharing
These informations are basic but very useful, also if you could explain the usage or rather the conversion of the tyre or rim size accordingly on a car would have been wonderful. 👍👍👌
Absolutely amazing.
Quality content we didnt know we needed. Thank you so much for this
Fornine also has an excellent series in tires.
Super content PD.
Very helpful. Thanks a ton bro :) Keep up the good work.
Thanks a lot, this was so informative and simplified… next pls do torque and power
Extremely informative
Love the explanations❤️❤️
🍻
Additional info : Manufacturers and homologation agencies plan to include energy efficiency rating (indication of rolling resistance of the tire ) and even a noise rating in near future
Thank you professor 😊
Informative 👍
Awesome PD ♥️
Fantastic ... Just fantastic ... Love you Shumi & PowerDrift ...
Great insight on tyres, most of the people only pay attention to Rim and size. Could you please do a ep on clutching & braking? for ADV and city riding. Cheers
Can do!
Video on rev matching and it's pros & cons👍
I was searching exactly this info couple of years ago but by digging deep i was still not satisfied with the answers. But this video is a gem. Lots of love from Bhopal ❤️
Dudeeeee.... Just amazing 🔥🔥
Love this segment! Keep it up!
🍻
Thanks for sharing this information
Pls do a video on torque vs HP 🙏
Nice as always. But still shumi your road rage podcast is #1. Really offbeat, but very important topic.
Very useful information
Chaala bagaa chepparu saamy🙏
Thank you so much❤️
Am I the only one who's taking screenshots and saving them like notes 😅. Very informative video for any rider. Thanks shumi 👍
another great video! love this type of content. Could you guys make a video on motorcycle revving- Indian conditions
Knowledge is not how much you know, but how much you can impart to society. Nice one
Thank you Ankur!
Thank you Shumi, keep making these wholesome contents! 👍👍
Awesome information
Thank you so much for this video👍🏻
Glad it was helpful!
Can you explain about Advantages & disadvantages of Alloy wheel vs Spoked wheel
Thank you @shumi@pd
Love these videos! Shumi is a natural teacher. Shumi Sir I got a doubt, what are radial tyres? Maybe in the next video about different kind of tyres.
Sure we can! But there’s enough good videos online too!
@@shu_mar wow got a reply from Shumi!!! I checked some videos but it is a whole different pleasure to learn from you🙂
What is the advantage of radial tyres of other tyres also type of tyres used ?
Seriously we love powerdrift becz it not only give info about bikes but make a person true rider in every aspects. Thanks.
Glad to hear this helped you Arindam!
There's so much more to motoring than just riding and driving, no?
@@powerdriftofficial yes sir, I personally loved it. Iam looking forward to know more about it.
@@powerdriftofficial it would be funny to let you know but after this video I went down to my garage to check the load capacity of my car which is 88 H. So now I have a much clear idea about the full load of my car which supposed to be 560kg and H is tyre speed limit which is 210. So I just loved the video. ♥️
I owned RTR 200 & I am thinking to upsize my tire, front 100/80 - 17 & rear 140/60 - 17, so can you give any suggestion.
Hi Shumi
Could you make a simplified video on Radial vs Bias ply tyres?
Thanks for the info shumi
Always happy to help!
Shumi excellent job man. This is going to take powerdrift to a new level. Also in accident like situation can a person use engine braking instead when his/her brakes are not too good. What is the impact and what is the trade-off we are looking at
Question
Stock size : 150/60/R17
If i upsize to
Upsize: 160/60/R17
Will it affect/ alter abs?
Hey Shumi, one more great informative video again. I'm quite new to the riding culture and started to corner learning on my own watching some videos. Could you make a video for how beginners should start on this way and what things one should keep in mind from the safety perspective.
Thank you for the amazing content🙂
That's a pretty informative and useful video..... Lovely man lovely
Awesome info 🔥
The video was very informative. Thank you so much.
I would like to ask you if possible please make a video about types of engines in motorcycles and their specifications.
Thank you so much Sushant!
And we shall try for that topic.
Shumi always rock
Thank You Very Much
Good morning professor shumi
Man this was an educating video. Thoroughly enjoyed
I was very confused for many years, thanks for explaining in understandable form. Keep it up.
A video on best riding gear and accessories for rainy season please.
Incase of a hard braking, should you press the brakes first or clutch first? And why so? The advantages and disadvantages
Very informative video, thanks to PD Team
Welcome Gokulakrishnan!
Pls explain Torque and Power
Informative video.
Can we use radial tyre on a normal tyre rim ?
Could you do a video on quickshifter and slipper clutch
You are amazing @Sumi
PD, what is ABS, BA, ESP, EBD, traction control?
Simple,,,,yet highly efficient’
Great content as always Shumi. Please could you made a video about breaking in 1)A new motorcycle and 2)A new tyre? . Thanks 😎
There's not much to it.
1) Your motorcycle's manual has the steps
2) Drive/Ride carefully for first 50-100km, and then you're good to go.
Please make a video on spoke and alloy rims.
Changed to Michelin Road 5 from stock Metz on my Duke 390 in March 2020. Couldn’t find Metz in market then. Bikes run less than 500kms since then. Would the tyre degrade due to non usage?
A very simplified yet a very informative video. Good one.
Thank you Ajas!
Nice one, Shumi. And no "subject matter" blunders from you today! 🤗 However, there's a language error. That "V" is NOT an alphabet. It's a LETTER. The English Alphabet has 26 "letters" and "V" (or P, H, etc.) is one of them. 🤗
Would like you to provide info related to tyres when it comes to Indian bikes. Pirellis and Michelins are mostly used on superbikes and rarely on Indian bikes. Most of us folks would be riding something like a Bullet or a Dominar or a Pulsar. These bikes have MRF and ceat tyres mostly. It would be great if you shed some light on these daily use tyres and guide us as to what we can use as a daily driver. Love your content :)
The honest answer is that Indian tyres haven’t evolved to the stage where there are massive differences between brands, especially in daily use. Luckily, there are few poor tyres on the market. Stay away from the highest-mileage options (they have the least grip generally in cheaper tyres) and you’ll be fine. MRF, Apollo, TVS all make good tyres. I haven’t used a CEAT in ages, but they’re reportedly decent too!
Amazing Video
That was really simplified!
priceless data.
almost as priceless as the speaker.
Crossplane technology is made for better low end to mid range torque compared to a inline 4, but nowadays inline 4 engines with shift cam technology and VVT technology make even better low end to mid range torque compared to CP4 Engine. Ex: Current gen S1000RR and current gen GSXR 1000 RR make more low end to mid range torque compared to a R1
Shumi also please make a video on how to maintain bike self to the maximum possibility.
