Kings Creek Falls in Lassen Volcanic National Park

- Kings Creek Falls is a beautiful 30 foot waterfall in the middle of Lassen Volcanic National Park. This hike takes you along a creek, through beautiful meadows and down to the waterfall. Even after seeing the waterfall, it is equally stunning as you make your way back up to the start and through the upper cascades portion of the trail. Let me know what you think in the comments if you have hiked it.

I have fond memories of this trail - thanks for helping me recall this wonderful trail.
California Dreamin' right now. Love waterfalls.
It’s pretty hard to beat a good waterfall hike!
Wow that place is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing your experience
No problem! Thanks for the comment
@@californiathroughmylens you're welcome!
The upper cascades were the most amazing that I've every seen. I was there 8.8.20 and still good water flow. It must be amazing in the soringtime. Fantastic hike
I agree, they are so beautiful and one of the highlights of the hike for sure
sadly through your videos, might be only way to experience parts of CA for a while because of the fires. Keep them coming please.
It makes my heart hurt knowing I won’t be able to hike for some time.
Wow! So pretty. Kings Canyon NP is a treasure to be seen. I hiked the Mist Falls Trail, walked The Zumwalt Meadows and watched family swimming/jumping off by The Muir Rock but I know there’s more to be seen in this less-visited park, like this hike that you posted. Thanks for keeping us all inspired to do more, hike more, see a lot more of California!
No problem! I’m so glad you have gotten to have so many amazing experiences in the CA parks!
Ooh, adding this hike to my list
I always love a nice waterfall
When I was there a couple years ago they had the trail down diverted. A ranger told me that the steps going up are very narrow and it’s such a popular hike that they did that diversion. Plus going up the cascades you want and need to stop to enjoy the view and catch your breath. But it’s breath taking so it’s not really a hard hike. The hardest part was the horse trail going down. Very exposed and lots of rock. Was really hard on my knees. Stopped halfway down and found a tree to sit under and take a good water and snack stop. Had my lunch at the base of the cascades after spending time at the falls. Beautiful view for lunch.
Beautiful, this is what I need at the end of a stressful workday!
So glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the comment!
awesome trail and waterfall!.......beautiful place!
Hi, I love your videos. So informative, and well photographed. Thanks for the video...
I live in shingletown, just below lassen park. I wish there was rain, it barely sprinkled we haven’t had any in a very long time. It’s true what you say about parking, it’s always bad there. The stairs remind me of the stairs going up to Yosemite falls, but I love Yosemite a lot more then lassen 😊.
Nice falls, great park !!!
Thank you for sharing video 😄😃👍👍
Hi Josh! We were in Lassen last weekend and I fell in love with King's Creek Falls. It became our super favourite. Water was frigid! I posted pictures on FB and gave you credit for the inspiration to hike many trails there. Absolutely gorgeous!
So glad you got to experience it! The park is so magical for sure! Thanks for sharing about my site as well, really appreciate it!
Beautiful...Thank You
Thank you for your videos. I appreciate how informative and detailed you are. I am planning my trip to Lassen based on your suggestions :)
Really been enjoying all your videos. Used to live in Paradise, CA and moved out of state when we got burned out in the Camp Fire, Nov 8, 2018. Our hearts ache for California. We were to spend the summer there, (pandemic postponement) doing much of what you love to do. Maybe next year. We love it dearly. So, for now, we live vicariously....til we can get back there.
So sorry to hear that you lost your home in the Camp Fire. That was such a devastating fire. I do hope you can get back to California soon as well
That park is so beautiful. I have never even heard of this one before. Will have to add this to the list of things to check out on my next trip to California. Thanks for sharing this with us!
No problem, Lassen gets much fewer visitors then many of the other CA parks but it is an amazing spot
The eastern half of Lassen NP is awesome, it's not as popular, but has some amazing features. Find Terminal Geyser, thank me after.
Great hike. I one time stashed my bicycle across the road from the trail head and drove down to Summit South campground and started the hike there. When I got to the end I had a nice down hill ride back to the car.
beautiful
I completed this hike last week. Unfortunately, a large section of the area was mostly destroyed by the 2021 Dixie Fire. So, there are portions of your hike down to the falls where you walk through the charred remnants of what was once lush foliage. This makes wearing sunblock (or sun protecting clothes) very important. Even last week when the temperatures were in the low 60s at this elevation, it still felt "hot" due to the unabated sun. So, any hikers now must be very careful to bring plenty of water too.
Sadly, fewer hikers actually took this trail while we were at the park. Yet, the King's Creek Falls -- despite being surrounded by brown and black burned trees and no grass -- was just as stunning! In fact, the creek and the falls are VERY green. This provides a stark contrast with the surrounding remains of the forest due to the fires. The one-way route up along the cascades is still the norm. However, it doesn't take long to get to the green meadow closer to the trailhead. It's a very worthwhile hike!
how long is the hike from parking/trails to the actual waterfall?
@@loslakers530 - It's listed as a 2 hour hike (round trip). However, you'll probably stop a lot along the way -- at the falls and all along the cascade back to the top. So, it's like a three-hour hike.
A nice short walk 👍🏽
Agreed!
Always like the background music in your videos
Thanks, I appreciate that!
The Cascade Trail was one way last year. Long before C*1*9*. I think they made the cascade one way because the trail is a bit narrow in some spots.. I'll be there again in a few weeks..
Awesome vdo. Nice pics. Not too much talking
I love the view of Mt Shasta when you take the north exit out of Lassen, so majestic on a clear day. Did you by chance go to Shasta Cave that is north of Lassen? Also pretty cool if you haven't done that. Btw love your channel, done a lot of traveling all thru the western states, kind of kicking myself because we were literally near some of the places you mentioned but didn't know about it.
I agree the views leaving the northern area are amazing. I have been to the Shasta Caverns near Redding, where you take the boat across the lake to the cave. Is that what you are talking about?
@@californiathroughmylens yep that cave, was such a weird but fun stop, taking a boat and a shuttle to see a cave.
Tons of caves in the area, Subway Caves just outside of Old Station is easy and fun.
Awesome video, my man!
Thank you!
COOL Video👍😎
😊 thanks
Looks like such a gorgeous hike, though have you ever gone at sunrise? I'd be curious if that would be a better way to avoid the crowds.
I haven’t gone that early, but with the trees it may be pretty dark until the light comes up a little more
When were you there? I’m always interested in what it’s like in places at different times of the year. We were there in June of this year. P.S I grew up in Riverside. 😊
Thanks for the comment! This was in middle of July
I'm currently obsessed with exploring this area. Did you stay in Redding and drive out for the day?
Yep, I stayed in Red Bluff one night and Redding the other night
To je nádhera. 👍🌈👽
👍🏼
👍🏻😍
That thunder the same one that started all the fires?
Thanks for the comment. This video was from about a month ago
Hey Caleb
Are dogs allow for hiking?
Is that near Mount Shasta.
The National Park is not too far for Mt Shasta, maybe a few hours.
Have you hiked to Feather Falls?
Last time my daughter and I did that hike we saw a bear walking just upslope from the trail. It was about at the halfway point...
What do I have to do to get a CZcams shout out as your little brother?🤷♂️😂
Don't go chasin' waterfalls!
please tell me why? thanks in advance.
@@USARoadtrip364 Just me being a dork. It is the lyrics to a TLC song!
😂😂😂
Does your wife ever show up anymore? Maybe she’s bored with Lassen.
She is pregnant with twins so that is why she hasn’t been in a lot of the videos
California Through My Lens Oh wow. Congratulations. 🎉
