- Frank Sinatra appeared as the guest star on Bing Crosby's CBS radio program, sponsored by General Electric Corporation, for two consecutive weeks in March of 1954. This is the first of those broadcasts, aired on March 21, 1954. The second broadcast on March 28, 1954 will be uploaded shortly. Sinatra sings his then-current hit, YOUNG AT HEART (9:21), and he and Bing sing a medley of "September songs": AMONG MY SOUVENIRS, SEPTEMBER SONG and AS TIME GOES BY (13:20). They also discuss Sinatra's Oscar nomination for his performance in the film FROM HERE TO ETERNITY which he would win the following week, restoring him to stardom after a marked decline in his career the prior year.
The audio is from a reel to reel tape in the RIC ROSS Frank Sinatra Collection.
Thank You 👍🎶👍
Do you know anything about the performance on September 29th 1939 of Sinatra singing “Day In, Day Out” with Harry James? Just curious if you can confirm it’s existence or know about it. ❤
Hello -- I am not familiar with a FS performance with H. James on that date, but they were touring and doing radio performances in the summer and fall of 1939, so it may well have occurred.
Thank you very much for sharing. Speaking of Bing Crosby I am trying to track down a copy of "This Heart of Mine" which Bing sang on the Frank Sinatra Show on 2 May 1945. Do you by any chance have a copy?
Hello John -- I may have that. I will look for it.
