I would have ended the business relationship at "I have dogs that could tear you to pieces". Period.
It did cross my mind at that point I had 30 mins left so thought ride out the 30 mins get paid and see ya later
@@THETATTOOGARDENER83 I understand, you gotta eat too...
It’s a deal breaker for me; sack off and get a better contract!
Correct call in my opinion mate.
My wife and I are both fairly experienced rescue dog handlers and being extremely cautious is the only suitable way to be in such situations.
Sometimes working with aggressive dogs does go wrong, and it's very frightening. You don't need that risk when you're on a gardening job!
I feel for the lady as well. Owning aggressive dogs is a real drain on your life and can make you feel a bit trapped. She's likely making sacrifices in her attempt to give those dogs a happy life.
Hi William I completely agree she told me a few things which I don’t share but your right sacrifices have been made to help these two dogs as they were from a rescue home
Very nice people if it wasn’t for the dog situation it would have been a great garden to work in
Fair play to you for taking it on
In the first place
I felt I would give it ago I didn’t realise the dogs were Rottweilers or German Shepherds if I’d known that from the start I probably wouldn’t have gone in when the client said she had dogs. I thought they might have been labradors or something more friendly.
You 100% did the right thing Pete. If people are happy to own dangerous dogs then they've got to accept they may struggle to get tradesmen around, or anyone for that matter.
Agree it will be really hard to keep gardeners or any tradesman imagine if they needed a paramedic
Safety first there’s always another client around the corner that will be safer if there’s a risk to your safety then it’s not worth our time
Appreciate you watching bro thank you so much 🙏
Easy to solve Tell All customers keep your dogs inside when you are visiting,If they are that dangerous she needs reporting to the Police too late when they attack A child...I would report her Straight away....
I think it depends on the breed mate I’m not scared of dogs but these dogs were not the sort to mess with
As Pete said it depends on the breed, my two bassets love visitors and ask their attention but they are not dangerous at all so I let them go freely in their property.
@@THETATTOOGARDENER83It's got nothing to do with breed a dangerous dog is exactly that! It's how they are raised.
That's really unfortunate and shouldn't happen you did the right thing completely. I used to have a rotti and she was the softest dopy dog ever and it brakes my Hart that they get bad press because of a few rouge ones like these, I think it's down to bad owners, but then they could have been rescue dogs so I can't pass judgement.
Keep up the great work👍🏼
Hi Ben your right it’s all about their upbringing and how they’ve been treated
Same with staffys they get a bad rep but I’ve always found them fine
Thanks for the kind words mate
Yes you took the right decision, no way to feel anxious and frightened at work.
Yes agree equally dogs would have picked up on the fear which makes them more mad
Really wasn’t worth it
Thanks for watching
Dude I probably would have done the same it’s not worth it mate
I love how your so respectful to the lady and from what you said I think it was good of her to let you know
Imagine if she hadn’t said anything and you got attacked it’s quite scary
As someone else said it’s not the dogs fault they will just protect their property but equally you can’t take that risk
I totally have respect for her she was a lovely lady and the garden was nice I was really looking forward to working on it however the dog situation was just too dangerous
Thanks for watching as always bro have a good rest of the week
@@THETATTOOGARDENER83 no worries Pete just checking out your new video 🙌🏼
Best decision Pete, dogs are lovely creatures but they are very territorial, kinda makes you wonder why she has them, I've got German shepherd and border collies who are wonderful, but would defend me no doubt, should I ever be attacked, but never ever have either of them bitten anyone. Plus my girls are well trained, as the German shepherd is an x raf police dog 🐕.
I’ve been around loads of dogs and never had any issues or been scared however this situation was alittle different and my gut feeling wasn’t to stick around this time
I’ve got more than enough work and so letting the odd job go does t bother me any more it’s easy enough to replace work
Safety first in this case
I’m sure your dogs are lovely
Hi Pete, I have a Border Collie that comes to jobs with me most days, on two separate occasions she was attacked by two cats. For a while afterwards she was terrified of cats because of what had happened to her, then after about six months my Collies fear turned to aggression, so now when she sees a cat she wants to attack it. Luckily she is very biddable and responds to my commands and nothing bad has happened.....so far. On your situation, i think you did the right thing.
Hi Bernie for me it was just being cautious I could sense the dogs weren’t sure of me and I felt the same especially after what I was told
I respect the lady for being honest with me but it cost her a decent gardener o think this is why the previous gardeners didn’t stick around either
Thanks for watching 🙏
Hi Pete fair play to you for going for the one visit did you video any of the garden? I wouldn’t of even gone mate. What did she say when you said I not coming back? I doubt if any garden would want to go there 👎
Ironically all previous gardens never came back
Hilarious.
@@antonywalker8837 not sure dad sod getting bit for a few quid
I would have turned around and left at the words ‘dangerous Dogs’. Rotties are lovely Dogs generally but those two sound like a nightmare. I think that customer will have to cut her own grass in future.
I think she will too they’ve had a few gardeners that didn’t stick around and I’m sure it was purely the dog situation as the client herself was lovely
Totally understand mate.
I don’t mind dogs like you. Last year I had a one off hedge job. Customer went out and one of her dogs managed to get out and it bit the back of my leg!!
I had to hide in my van and ring her to come back to get the dog in😬😅
You can never be sure!!
Jesus mate I’m glad it didn’t come to that for me or it could have been bad
Have a good rest of the week mark thanks for checking in bud
Good call definitely not safe keep up the great work 👍
Cheers mate will do and you bud
I don’t blame you Pete, there must’ve been a lot of ahem, missiles, in the garden also? Did you notice abundance of dog mess? That situation wouldn’t have worked for me either as I like to come and go in the main in people’s gardens if they’re relaxed and they let me, the chances of me startling those dogs would be incredibly likely..
I didn’t see to many land mines 💩 it was just the dogs situation that put me off
The client herself seemed really nice
@THETATTOOGARDENER83 You got me thinking to ask in future prospective customers about the pets situation.. I never thought to ask before.. I have my goto list of questions for a new potential customer.. 😂 access.. parking.. waste.. but I never thought to ask about pets so thanks. Oh yeah another one I ask them is have they had garden help before.. worth knowing.. can be a potential red flag.. not always but fairly often
I don’t blame you I would be out of there. Pleased you are this decision before something awful happened!!!
Sometimes you have to put safety before money
Thanks for watching really appreciate you taking the time to check in 🙏
You did the right thing, one day it was going to happen. No matter how much you think you can make friends with them. I dropped a multi millionaire customer because of their ridge back dog. It never bit me , but it had bitten a painter and decorator. No matter how much you talked nice to it,it was never going to be your friend, no tail wag and that body language that lets know, i didn't dare reach to stroke it. Their other dog a boxer she was lovely, loved to see me, but that ridge back would watch me like a hawk. One day the little grandson was out playing and following me around, the ridge back came over and started growling at me and getting in between me and the kid. I know it was protecting the kid, but With that and all the dogshit. That was my last day.
Hi guys sounds like you a had a lucky escape too
Sometimes we have to put our own safety before thinking about the money
Jobs can always be replaced but it’s not worth risking getting bitten by a dog that tbf is only protecting its property but even still that’s no consolation to us if we got attacked
Well done for walking away I know I also made the right choice
The dog won 😂
@@kai_johnsonn yeah it did, but the owners didn't.
@@mycolliesandme268 very true
Don't blame you mate 😂😅
🏃♂️
One visit was enough mate I value my life
You did the right thing Pete
I think so too Mike I’m sure it would have been a matter of time before we had an incident
Thanks for checking in mate 😃🙌🏼
Good call
Sometimes you just get that feeling and have to do what’s best for yourself you know
Have a good week James 😎☀️🙌🏼
I agree with your decision. I would not even have gone once after she said they were dangerous dogs. Like big Al I was bitten on the face by a boxer dog aged about 10 so I’m very wary.
Hi Steve sorry to hear about your incident once you’ve beaten bitten that stays with you forever it makes your more cautious
I’m not a fan of Rottweilers. My youngest at 12 years old was attacked by one and ended up with 14 stitches. Guess what, I ended marrying the owner of that house 😂😂😂 3 years later. It was his son’s dog, but the dog had passed away a couple of years before I met my husband. I’m so glad you’re not going back there !!!!!!!
Hi Carol yeah I just didn’t feel right and as you know I value my life and time with my family outside of work as you’ve seen on my other channel ( THE WALKER ANDREWS FAMILY) I’d hate to get bitten and end up with infections or be out of work
Thanks for sharing your story it’s funny how life works out sometimes isn’t it really appreciate you taking the time to watch and share your story 😃🙏
Take care speak soon have a good rest do the week 😎☀️
I think you did the correct thing, not worth your life no matter how well it payed.
No thanks
Cheers for the video mate
Hi buddy no worries thanks for taking the time to watch you guys are everything to us CZcamsrs 🙏
Have a good rest of the week buddy 😎
It's your safety frist u don't want to be in fear looking over your shoulder thinking they ma get out I wood do the same
Exactly Bryan safety first and I don’t mind dogs normally
My response would be.("Sorry love iam off") Then leg it.😂🤣 As you know son. I was a postman for 13yrs. I was bitten 3 times in 6 months and you do loose your nerve. Plus I had to pop to the doctor's for injections. Those were the days 🤔. Dad 👍🍺
Not worth it dad really not
See you tomorrow can you meet at mine for 7:30am another busy day 💪🏼
if a new customer said that i would say sorry to busy and move on they cant control there dogs
Agree mate at first she never said what dogs she had and me not being bothered by dogs was happy to carry on but mid first session she came out and explained so I knew I wouldn’t be sticking around
I love dogs, I own one of the infamous banned breeds. BUT the minute I hear "they will tear you to shreds", I'm out.
Fair play to the owner for being honest, and the dogs are only guarding the territory, but nah not for me thanks.
Imagine they barged their way out when the customer is peeping out the door offering you a brew? Not worth it mate, good call.
Hi mate well that was going through my mind as the client was in and out the doors that weren’t shut properly
Her honesty made my mind up regarding returning and I love dogs but not these two
My uncle has a Rottweiler and he’s lovely
@@THETATTOOGARDENER83 Ye most of them are mate, like labradors a lot of them, but if they've been raised to guard territory then thats what they'll do and it's not worth taking the risk, I'd want muzzles on the dogs and padlocks on the doors before I even looked at the grass haha.
Hope you're keeping well mate, it's a battle with the weather up here lately, but managing to keep up with the schedule the best I can!
@@tomjones9383 that’s good to hear bro I’m the same at the mo busy but weather trying its best to make things tricky lol
@@THETATTOOGARDENER83 Ye its a nightmare, done 3 of 5 jobs today, called it a day at 1pm because the heavens opened, got home, unloaded the van..... suns been out since, haha.
Take it easy mate, love following along, wish I had the knowledge / confidence to do my own videos but I wouldnt know where to start ha.

She said when quoting she had dogs but didn’t tell me what dogs until I started because when I quoted they weren’t in
I lived to tell the tail lol 😂 but I’m hoping any other gardeners that go might go with caution after hopefully seeing this
Thanks for watching Wayne have a good rest of the week bud
Glad you’re ok Pete, I always ask aswell, when visiting the property, looking at the garden, asking the potential customer some questions, dogs or cats, garden waste bin, side gate access, parking etc, but a big red flag is when they say there’s 2 lion type dogs in the house, glad you got out of there in one piece mate
Simon
SJH Garden Solutions 🪴
Hi Simon I’m always looking for those red flags too I think it’s something all us gardners have to take onboard before doing a job
But I’m ok it was a safety first for me on this occasion
@@THETATTOOGARDENER83 Yeah definitely mate.
That’s totally fair enough Pete
