      Sunak was actually born in south of England so is English born, I just don’t like what his party has done to this country over the last decade and a quarter. The country has got to get away from just voting for one of the main two parties. People are doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome, it ain’t happening so stop voting Tory or labour. Edit: someone has just posted a fantastic analogy underneath, he needs commending for his work. 😂

      I will always self-identify as British first, and English second. I guess it stems from having family in Wales and Scotland, and going on holiday many times there when I was a kid. If I didn't have exposure to those places as a kid, I would probably think of myself as English first and foremost. I never identified as an EU national though, despite going on holiday as a kid to places like France and Spain (and having family there too). Just always seemed foreign to me, which it was / is.

    Since 1970, the Political, Judicial, & Academic classes have crushed and silenced the voices of the ordinary, unremarkable working class. Let down by the religious class. Can we look forward to King Charles defending THE FAITH? Not all faiths but the Church of England are the foundation principle of our parliament, laws, and judicial system. The nation is stirring and looking about at the devastation to our country. Our tolerance has reached its limits, and our voices will be raised. We are finding our voice and demanding all non-native citizens to embrace our culture, share our heritage, and become part of a cohesive society. There is room for all people of goodwill. There is no room for imported intolerant activists determined to turn the UK into a Third World country. Today, I reaffirm my commitment to raise my voice to defend what is rightfully ours. It was in the 70's that I noticed Indian subcontinent immigration to UK (London) became obtrusive. Probably due to Uganda expelling lots of Indians, at that time. The street opposite mine became mainly Indian. Also, it was when London newsagents started to all become Indian. Patel's rather than Bill's or Sam's, etc. The local Odeon cinema suddenly closed and became a bollywood cinema, only catering for Indians. During the 90's, I started to notice schools becoming Islamic, and there were streams of muslim girls wearing scarves over their heads, filtering home to the flats at the bottom of the street when the schools closed in the evening. Little by little the area became less and less English, less and less cockney, until now, it's like living in Bangladesh.

      Not accurate, "Britain", "British", "Briton", etc are English words borrowed from Latin (like thousands of other English words) to describe the people who inhabited Britain before the arrival of either the Romans or the English. Likewise the Roman themselves borrowed "Britani" from a word the original "British" used for themselves. With the existence of the English, the word "British" then became defunct for over 1,000 years until the plantation of Ulster when the English and lowland Scots colonists resurrected it in order to distinguish themselves form the native Irish.

      @user-fh1rz1uq6c Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@colinlavery625 Thanks for your comment Colin, but you are wrong. "Brythonic" is a modern English language term for the Celtic languages/dialects that include Welsh and Cornish (and "Cumbric", etc). It was coined by a Welsh language expert in the 19th Century. It is not an ancient word. And as I say, it is also a word that has come into English from Latin. You must understand that Latin was spoken in what is now England before English ever became a language. We know that the Latin word for the "Britons" was "Britani", and it is from "Britani" that the words "Britons", "British", "Britain", "Brythonic", etc, came into English. The original English (i.e Anglo Saxon) term for any "Briton" (living anywhere in Britain) was "Wealas" which evolved in the English language to mean "Welsh". I hope this has helped understand what you are talking about.

    I must say, however, that the concerns common folk have resonate with me. The UK is the most amazing place on earth but politics and free speech restriction is a massive problem. More so now than any other time I’ve experienced!

      Pure English? Maybe, but very highly unlikely, have you checked your DNA? Even most of our Aristocratic families are not purely English. These lands were invaded and conquered by so many in the past. Genetic studies have shown that the British population is a tapestry of various ancestries, and "purity" in terms of a single ethnic or national identity is rare, if not non-existent. Modern British identity, including English identity, is the result of centuries of migration and mixing of different peoples.

    A British person with honour, integrity and love to his country should be ashamed, not proud, of what happened to this once great country. For three decades we have seen our history, culture and great achievements desecrated before our eyes and did nothing to stop it. I was a proud British 30 years ago when we had a great armed forces, first class NHS, superior education system and top manufacturing industries. Now all that have gone and we lost our capacity to protect our borders -- all this happened without a single demonstration to force the government to respect our wishes.
