wow Ian's voice was top form here
I was there at this gig. In fact, I'm the 18yr old idiot sat in front of Pete's drums wearing the ludicrous white hat and the one who got up to do a stupid dance during Crocodiles. But I tell you what, they were great days!!!!!! I really wish I was 18 again.
Thanks for sharing that story, thats legendary :-)
God bless Pete. x
One of the best bands of the 80s!!!!
Lay down thy raincoat and groove. All my bunny friends say ou! huh! By the way if you haven't read Will Sargent's autobiography, do so. It's soo good.
I was there at the time! right there in the crowd! amazing memory! Met Gary Lloyd too!
In their glory years here!
This band means so much to me. They helped make my life a little better. Greatness!
Poor Pete. Love ya man. I aint forgotten.
probably the greatest recorded gig EVER!!! and the greatest live band EVER!! awesome!
A legendary concert. The Bunnymen are insanely good.
I've only discovered these guys in the last few months, but their first 4 albums are now among my favorites. So glad we have shows like this available. Thank you for sharing!
you are sooo lucky!! awesome band!
you are in for some amazing music....congrats friend !!! Enjoy
Echo and the Bunnyman fans are the sweetest people ever! only got into them in the past month...after watching Strange Things and joined a group on Facebook and have met the nicest most enthusiastic people!!!!!!!!!!
Never mind us Paddy we know owwet mocic
I rember glue sniffing xxxxx
I would love to be there right now. thanks to those who made those wonderful memories possible 😂
One of the greatest gigs of all time.
Still great after 37 years😁
I'm biased, but in those days and now, this makes top ten bands, all time
The best video on CZcams? Maybe. Thank you infinity for not ruining it with commercials. High-water mark for the Bunnymen for sure. Phenomenal.
Remember taping this off the tube and my brother taped over it. I wouldn't speak to him for months. I was about 11 at the time. I thought it was the best gig I'd seen. Seen them a lot since but this is still one of my favourite gigs
Why didnt you go to it Helen?
I was at this gig it was phenomenal. MTV unplugged before it existed... . A day of happening in Liverpool. Picked myself out at the front. 17 and in the middle of A level exams!!! Couldn't be missed!
Imperial period bunnymen.
Liverpool's finest!
In the 1980's you could see Echo and the Bunnymen walking around town, also Pete Burns, Flock of seagulls, Frankie goes to Hollywood, Ian McNabb, Julian Cope, Pete Wylie etc....they visited" Probe" which was a record store selling vinyl...Then there was...... Cast, The La's and Space later on...all good stuff
Yea remember mate. What talent from liverpool . Inc billy fury Merseybeat, beatles ,real thing many more, capital of music defo. Manchester was ok, love to mancs, , but not as this beautiful city of the pool
ESPETACULAR
Simple the best 😊
Boy, how good they were. Don't think this is the full gig. Was there, they played two sets of around an hour each. This must be the 'full broadcast' gig. If I remember correctly the Japanese dancers did their thing during the interval between the two sets. Amazing, proper brilliant night as part of the whole 'Crystal Day'. Amazing venue as well, kind of suited them, after the Albert Hall gig the previous year. Everybody says it all the time, the Albert Hall gig should get a full release. So should this.
I was there!
Brilliant
The masterclass of the 80s post-punk.
E&B epic.
Thank's for this uploaded.
What a powerful performance!
Went to this, approaching their peak. Blew everyone away the following year when some veteran hack who had been covering stuff since 1969 said, they were the best live band he had ever seen...
this show is insane
1983-1984 Echo and the Bunnymen at the peak of popularity
Drawn back to this, nostalgia rules. It was shown on Midsummer Nights Tube. The Tube was an excellent mid 80s music show in the UK. They showed U2 at Red Rocks on the same night. When I went into work on Monday, people (some much older) commented on how the Bunnymen were the best thing on the show. In fact, the best thing they had ever seen on the Tube. High praise indeed, from people who were mostly of the 50s/60s youth generation.
I recorded this show on a VHS tape which I've lost. Thanks a million for posting this awesome show!
Wow this is perfection - I just saw the band in Scotland with strings, and it was exceptional. But the punter next to me cried at the loss of Pete, now lost to us since the end of the 80s. This shows what he said, the band as a whole was beyond any expectation of excellence - this film is proof and I will be looking for it on DVD now! thank you for posting - wow
SAUDADES DO BOM E VELHO ECHO E THE BUNNYMEN!
I was there, as part of the Crystal Day, it was a magical week-end and still one of the greatest gigs I have been to. A very special concert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Went to Brian's Cafe, a bike ride around Sefton Park, with Will and Les (from the band) and a ferry trip across the Mersey.
Wow.
It was mental, interesting little fact,(maybe)first band allowed since the Beetles ,1964?ish(cos of the Minton tiled floor!
😯 wow love!,
The very best musical group of the 1/2 of the 80's... and a band Sonora of my tender age.
the legendary concert, finally...
Crystal Day - great memories
They were just perfect.. love it
i remember crystal day being on the tube. Great memories thanks
The best show to me!😃
Pure bunnymen
We need this remastered and available!
A million times, thank you for posting. I made a night out of this.
The pleasure is mine
P A L
Never really appreciate be young at the time going to see bands like this two nights on the trot fcken class .
Memories SFX Dublin..
Saw them at Royal Albert Hall in 1986 Greenpeace Benefit concert supported by China Crisis .The Bunnymen were supremely maleficent.
Thorn Of Crowns.Saw them twice on this tour , I was 15.
Legendary concert!!!
I saw them on this tour in Boston, Aug. 18 at the Opera House. went with 3 girls but left with only one. Talked to Will Sargent outside after the show. Told him "Good show, Will." he said Thanks. Then I asked if he saw a pretty blonde and a brunette backstage where they were. he said no. But they stayed all night with their road manager while I went back home to RI with my other friend, a headache and a heartache. we since made up but broke up soon after, if it can be called that. She was in love with Mac. He came out with a coat draped over his shoulder outside after the show while i breathed in the exhaust from their truck. Pete DeFreitas road off on his bike into the Boston midnite. I thought it was too dangerous. he was killed in a motorcycle wreck in the Bahams I think 5 years later. I only went because of the blonde. still in touch with her.
I was at that show in Boston, they did a great version of My Kingdom.
Concerts I was at!! Great discovery! Big hand to whoever posted this
Thanks a lot for upload, mate! Memorable concert
I'm so happy to watch this movie! Thank you so much!!! I wish you don't delete..
I was there age 14.Missed the ferry trip,Brians cafè etc. Just went to the main event.Awesome
Nice one, getting in. Thought you needed all kinds of stamps? I was 16, desperate to go but lacked the nerve to try and go alone (didn't know anyone else into them round my way in Crosby). I went into town to feel the vibe, saw a big queue outside Brian's, and spent the afternoon in the Walker Art Gall looking at Art of the Beatles exhibition. Saw them in the Phil that October though, which made up for it. Glorious.
The best live version of Heaven Up Here you will ever hear. I've had the bootleg of the full gig since 1985. Even edited down it didn't quite fit on a C90 tape. The location of this gig makes the acoustics sound really good.
God I wish I lived in England then!
I love them!!
Love them so much saw them in 1984 at the Berkeley Community Theater it was awesome
how very lucky!!! cheers!
They are so good LIVE!! cant say that for other bands LOLOL
48:36 Ocean Rain ❤️😢
Love "Read it in books" with a quote from The Fall thrown in :)
9:12 Pete de Freitas R.I.P. Glory to Ukraine
Anyone remember when the Bunnymen toured the Scottish islands? I used to read about it in the NME and felt I was missing out. I was too young I felt even though I was 60 miles away.
Any links to videos?
1987 nice 1 the best thing wha vum out UV Liverpool and that comming from
Little known fact Oscar winning actor Daniel Day- Lewis used to be a roadie worker for the band before he hit it big!
i went to this gig too mate what a fookin' gig la .[lol ]sound as a pound etc......mAx...
I wonder if we will ever see the entire concert? Is there tape somewhere? This is wonderful but the concert has obviously been truncated for anTV broadcast.
During "Heads Will Roll" I'm pretty sure he said "God, then, must be Polish."
Full bdcast. The show was three separate sets around Liverpool.
I think they were more adventurous than U2 at that time , Bono said more than thanks after a song , but I like to think the Bunnymen were exhausted until the next song
Saw Echo at the Irvine Meadows Orange County California 1984 my first new wave concert asked my friend that brought me actually made me go he had 2 tickets whats the name of this first song because it was just like a jolt of rock it musta been Thorn Of Crowns,.
I saw them two times in a row at that same place probably the same year. It was a full moon when he looked up and sang Killing moon.
At one of the shows at Irvine Meadows he said he had a cold, but his voice sounded great.
Remember the guitar part of Cutter would echo from the left to the right all the way around the amphitheater? What a great show.
Crown of Thorns
After those two concerts I saw them at at Irvine Meadows I went to Westminster HIgh and I found out the base player of the band's cousin was a student at Westminster HIgh and I got to know her, but then the sad thing, he died during out softmore years.
Better than U2? Hell yah!!’
My mates band. Jack halswerth Rochdale this boy turd us on to the scooiser
ele gemendo é a melhor parte
ele geme o show inteiro kkkk
No Dark Things. Superb. Shame the current incarnation of the band ignores so many great album tracks.
Sadly the current incarnation wouldn’t be able to do that one justice. They lack urgency and power and Mac’s voice left us about 100,000 cigarettes ago.
10:33 Halo's opening theme o:
Mac killed The Killing Moon!
They really sort of castrated some of their older material around this time. Not really a fan of these versions. Having said that, this was the last time they were interesting.
Been after this for years, thanks for posting. Class
