  • the ending of this game left me flabbergasted, not even kidding, first time i’ve ever used that word. INDIKA has a lot of really interesting ideas for a game and i’m still not quite sure if it all worked for me or not. my full review: idk, honestly.

    Cautiously optimistic about this one, but still looking forward to it - honestly love a short 3hr game I can play in an evening

    Sounds like a 'out of time and budget' issue. I recall some failed early access titles resulting in games that literally just end as you walk through a random doorway, Indika would have to work hard to do even close to that badly. Still not sold on the whole 'beepy boop retro game' thing going on throughout this realistic looking period piece, it feels a bit like if someone stuck DLC Quest and War and Peace together, and as much as I want to respect the creativeness it's still hard not to be intensely jarred by the random mario-esque coin noises.

    Great review. I played the demo, and wondered how the full game turned out. Might have to pick It up just to see how It ends.

    It looks fairly polished. Bummer it sounds like the ending is nonexistent. I might check this one out as a lets play.

    I just finished it on ps5, only took two sessions and I can’t believe how fast it was over, it felt like there was so much more to tell ,

    Hm, looks like one more IcePickLodge form wider Russia is emerging.

    (kind of a spoiler warning) I was over the moon excited to play this game after the demo and 2/3 of it felt like a dream come true, even with the clunky controls and some weird puzzle/chase sequence decisions. The characters and their banter were absolutely brilliant and mostly balanced between their conflicting POVs. I was stupidly confident it's going to be one of my favorite games ever...
    But that last part... I'm sorry, maybe if I grew up with strict religious parents or in a hyper religious society and was still the edgy teen I was years ago, I'd appreciate it. But it broke my heart and made me feel sick to my stomach. I think it was absolutely unnecessary and the dev had already made his point long before that... So the ending just felt like a gut punch, especially as I was helplessly witnessing it as a woman.

    I have heard a plague's tale innocence referenced twice now in reviews for this game. I definitely didn't get that vibe. The ending felt similar to say Martha is Dead. Jarring like the rest of the game. It built towards more questioning.

    In hindsight I think it works perfectly for what it is at the length it is.
    I mean? Whatelse should happen after where the game concludes?

    sorry but i completely disagree with u! the ending was definitely intentional; indika's spiritual and character arc was completed in the pawnshop with the mirror-kudets scene

    could there have been some other path or choice people could go down to get a different ending? maybe there's a sequel?
    is this the new Scorn? a game i couldn't get enough of that most people hated.

      it might be, curious to see what steam reviews look like later today. and from what i experienced it is completely linear, no choices to be made at all

      @@nocapsbb funny i've listened to several reviews now and only one other mentions the ending (calling it 'abrupt'). one said it took 6 hrs to complete, another said a little over 2. all seem to agree that it's unique factor alone is enough reason to try it

    You guys gotta get over the idea that all games need to be long. All of us are getting older, all of us have ten million games in our Steam log, none of us have endless Summers anymore.

      @nocapsbb  Před 3 měsíci +3

      I didn't say it needed to be long, I said it ended too abruptly
